Homefront 2. The game apparently was a buggy mess when it came out, which caused most of the backlash, but I got it recently and I quite enjoyed it. It's nothing exceptional, kind of repetitive at times and I couldn't care less about the story but wandering around in ruins sniping baddies and avoiding the blimps spotlights was a fun experience.
A reminder that Max Payne 3 got a Script Hook a few months ago, and you can skip cutscenes now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayK2C-F1q58
Thief 3
Dead Island. The melee system is satisfying; each weapon swings with enough weight and zombies react accordingly to being hit in certain areas. Axes, Machetes and Knives slice through zombies while hammers, clubs and baseball bats break their bones and send their bodies flying. The soundtrack in a lot of places is gorgeous with a lot of nice atmospheric pieces. The Order 1886. The gameplay isn't the best. But I was hooked enough because of the slight slimilarities to Gears of War. The premise of having centuries old knights of King Arthur hunt down lycans and other monsters in the streets of Victorian London caught my interest. And, the soundtrack is down-right incredible in its own right. Hell, I'd reccomend listening to the entire soundtrack for The Order if you've got the chance.
Mass Effect Andromeda. It had its problems but I liked it a lot, and I'm thinking about playing it again.
i played a lit of and greatly enjoyed Perfect Dark Zero when it released on the 360
Alien: Isolation - While I would not call the game "Unpopular", it did not explode in popularity like it deserved. The game starts 15 years after Alien and it really feels like you are in the movie . The atmosphere and art all look very similar and it's always a fun experience. Not-rushing it, the game gives you 18 hours of gameplay which is a godsend in today's culture. Rushing, you still get around 13. The Alien is also pretty smart and terrifying and gets extremely tough once you amp the difficulty up. During my gameplay however, I really found the Robots to be scarier as they turn against you mid-game and things start really taking a turn. It's on sale now for 10$ and it's really a steal at that price. It's disappointing a sequel was never made because its genre is such a niche market. Someone recently uncovered the original DK1 files for VR in the game and made a Oculus CV1 supported patch for it. I have yet to try it but it should add more value to your experience. Rage - I will probably get crucified for this but I actually did like Rage. The story line was really sub-par and lacked any real bosses, but I think it really had some potential. One of the major issues was the ending and how quick and unfulfilling it was. One of the other issues was how the PC Port was just ungodly unstable and for some users crashed like crazy. ID Tech 5 really was to blame for a portion of this as I think it was the first game that shipped out using it and the early builds were such a dumpster fire. The Texture Pop-In issue was really one of my major gripes as it ruined the immersion. The gun mechanics and the art style were some of the things I liked the most however. I really wish they would have made a sequel that gave the IP the justice it deserved.
Donkey Kong Jungle Climber for the DS. It had a really fun mechanic of using the L and R buttons to grip climbable surfaces and swing around. It was like a platformer but you rarely touched the ground. They got really creative too, finding more and more intuitive concepts to use that one simple mechanic with. I really consider it one of the forgotten gems of the non-3d ds era. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsdwptByo-I
Kane & Lynch 2 is a big one, because while the game is a linear cover shooter, the atmosphere and whole camera schtick they do is really awesome to me. And then there's also Resident Evil 5, which I think is one of the all-time best co-op games around. It's unfortunate that it's a main-series Resident Evil game, because it's super fucking good, but a lot of people shit on it because it's not exactly scary in any way. AI is dumb as bricks, but if you're playing with a friend, you get to enjoy what's essentially Resident Evil 4 but with a friend in Africa.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Everything blends together fairly well. The only flaw I found are the reused, copy-pasted dungeons themes. Quite time demanding if you like to step aside from the storyline whenever you can to explore everything for lore and loot. Dungeon Siege 3. Don't give me a "but". Some may yell at me just by naming this game but I like it. Nice artwork, map design, dialogues, fluid gameplay and overall great soundtrack. It could have used more animations for the dialogues, tough.
I quite liked it to be honest. Like, I legit liked to grind yews. GREAT source of cash and all you had to do was chop trees. And the rest of the game itself had this look and feel to it.
literally inspired the theme/twist of my second book
I couldn’t agree more I definitely need to get this again
DEADBOLT, while the game is by no means hated I find it didn't really get the coverage it deserved.
7 Days to Die. It's so fucking fun playing this piece of garbage with my friends, but I am fully aware this game will never be finished and it will never get polished.
LISA. The community has recently transformed into a fangame-making monster and to be honest one of them in particular really stands out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5kgkNvur8c
Dead Space 3. While it wasn't as good as 1 or 2, and a lot of the criticisms are fair, I still thought it was an incredibly fun game, especially in coop. I felt like too many people wrote it off too quickly, it's still a really good game.
Remember Me The game isn't too good. But the setting and atmosphere is sex
The music is ridiculously good
Sonic R
Deus Ex Invisible War Far Cry 2 762 High Calibre Marauder Man of Prey Enemy Territory Quake Wars Watch_Dogs 1 Brink
There's lots of games I play that are unpopular but the most unpopular game I enjoy playing has to be Duke Nukem Forever.
Mario Kart Wii is by far my favorite Mario Kart, but I often see it derided as the worst in the series. It's driving and mechanics are by far the most engaging imo, the inward-drifting bikes are fantastic and add a revolutionary new angle to the gameplay (even if they are a bit unbalanced), it's online is a ton of fun, and the track selection is great and only getting better due to the active custom track scene. Double Dash and MK8DX come close, but neither really quite get there for me in terms of sheer racing feel, depth, and content.
Wurm, it's fucking terrible and has a dying community but I've been playing it since 2006 and I don't see myself giving it up anytime soon.
I really enjoy playing planetary annihilation and its expansion with my friends
Thief: Deadly Shadows
duke nukem time to kill is from what ive heard a really weak dukem game but me personally love the fuck out of it for not only being one of the few cool action games i had on my ps1 back then alongside apocalypse, but also because it was my first introduction to the dukem franchise.
Rise of Incarnates Even after Bandai Namco deleted their game off Steam at the end of 2015, it is still the closest thing to Gundam Versus on PC.
The Godfather 2
And The Godfather The First, for that matter, but I liked it far more than the sequel
