I actually thought the jankiness (apart from obvious bugs like the Act II bridge cutscene) helped with the vibe. It tried to take itself seriously which was pretty hilarious actually
I also like the combat system

The first part of that game is great. The rest of it comes out of nowhere and ruins what the first bit sets up.
It doesn't help that all of the female protagonists that David Cage writes end up being attacked or sexually assaulted.
Yup, I honestly think ZoE2 is one of my most favourite games of all time. The story and dubbing aren't much to write home about but I have never played a mech game with more solid, tight and responsive controls than ZoE in my life. The gameplay is absolutely phenomenal.
Crysis Wars, the standalone multiplayer component in crysis warhead (crysis 1), was insanely good. a lot of people just dismissed the whole game as being nothing more than a graphics tech demo but the multiplayer mode was actually really fucking great and underappreciated
it was a lot of fun just to dick around with but it also had a really great (but small) serious play community. there was a steep learning curve to master the nanosuit and its modes but once you did it was so satisfying finally becoming an ultimate badass - flying around the map, dodging weapons fire and punching the shit out of enemy tanks and aircraft
the community completely died when gamespy shut down but its still my favourite multiplayer experience of all time and its a travesty that hardly anyone even knew it existed
Just Cause 1
A lot of people found the game bland, boring and repetitive yet I enjoyed it quite a fair amount.

The first one sucked, but the second one gave me at least 200 hours of joy
