Mold spores can spread pretty easily, even through computer fans. By the looks of things, his apartment has been long since compromised and although his computer's working, it's probably a mold distribution center at this point considering the state of the building. Probably won't be smart bringing it along if he gets a new place, since mold doesn't just go away from all the stuff that it got on once you move your stuff to a new place.
He's going to have to take an air compressor to the inside of the entire system and replace anything that could still potentially have spores inside, big one would be the PSU.
Honestly anything past sealed parts like HDD and SSD storage should be replaced, spores get fucking everywhere and with some mold you can't even see them.
That's not how radiation works.
