• If You're White DO NOT Put This On [H3H3]

I've always thought about this. Has this been proven to be a symptom of genetics? Or is it purely upbringing?
So are we, and our variations of asian ethnicity and religions are alot more varied.
so a chinese dude is offended by the use of a traditional chinese dress as nothing more than a novel accessory to an event that has nothing to do with chinese culture, and a h3h3, as a white dude, is to try and police what everyone should and shouldnt be offended by? this is dumb as hell like didnt we all agree that wearing stuff like native american headdresses as novelty items is extremely uncool? why doesn't the same logic extend to this traditional chinese garment? why are white dudes allowed to be outraged when people from other races are upset about their clothing being appropriated? i'm not even saying whether or not i think it's right or wrong, but his reaction is ridiculous. it's usually a really bad sign when someone gets frazzled over 'pc culture' you're also making a lot of negative assumptions about someone just to shit on them
Ultimately, no one should ever do anything outside of the culture they were born into. Anything, and everything else is cultural appropriation, and it should be stopped at all costs.
lmao what events should Chinese dresses be worn at?
The dude is korean. Actually try to put effort in your arguments.
There is nothing wrong with trying to "police what someone is or isnt offended about". Think about it. If there is no social pressure on people not to be offended for any stupid reason, it gives any entitled douchebag an immense amount of power and voice. Nowadays (thanks in part to social media) offence isnt just a personal emotion, but it is also a powerful weapon of shaping publing opinion and shaming individuals. You have to draw lines somewhere, and videos like this one help to point out when offence is seen by the general public as misgiuded. They serve an important function.
Fun fact about that chinese dude getting outraged over the girl using the chinese dress. https://twitter.com/JacobSevere/status/990704589451116545 >Toddlers speaking Chinese are way better than those White English Speaking demons. How in the fuck can you say some shit like this?
Dunno where people are getting the guy's Korean. Lam is a Chinese surname and this dude keeps using Chinese or Asian to describe himself.
Lam is a chinese surname
I don't agree with how the guy reacted but I always hate it when people search for things someone said years ago as some sort of "gotcha." The guy tweeted those things almost half a decade ago, people change.
I've always wondered if the Wu-Tang Clan would be considered cultural appropriation these days.
can you only wear chinese dresses for official chinese events? is that how that works? like why would the fact that the event isn't specifically about chinese culture be relevant here at all?
Idk is it too late to toss in my $0.02 about what I think cultural appropriation comes as and how I think that form is bad because I see it as people seeing the "fun" aspects of a culture, taking it, and running with it, and not caring for the group of people it came from Like people saying "I love tacos," doing Dia de Los Muertos make up, and then turning around and thinking that Trump's wall is a good idea, or ignoring racism Hispanic people might face. Or singing along to a new Kendrick Lamar song, but ignoring his message in them and being apathetic to the oppression of the black community. I remember thinking "you can't do x or y because you're white" is really dumb but now I think it's more than just that. And saying "because I can and I want to" when it comes to this kind of stuff can be kind of selfish, imo. I'm not saying "you must donate $5 every time you eat Chinese food" or "you have to post #BLM every time you listen to a black artist," but I do think there's a moral issue of wanting to enjoy and take in what these people give out, but not bothering to even acknowledge their struggles.
I would understand that people would change, but well, he does seem like a hypocrite after he did that tweet about the chopsticks. Also seem's hes been on damage control lately, he has deleted the tweet about the toddlers, some tweet where he's calling a bunch of university students looking like the Third Reich and also deleted this marvel of a tweet made some months ago, someone managed to catch it before it was deleted yesterday (april 30). https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/218043/d2bd7728-fb4c-4815-956c-c73adddc3e39/DcCqcbHXUAAjBLQ.jpg Seems like this person has just not changed at all and acts like a hypocrite.
Because you technically can't be racist to white peolpe Is it rude and kinda gross, yeah... But understand that when POC and Asians say stuff like that, it's mostly a form to vent there frustrations Racism is prejudice plus power, that dude doesn't have any power
There is a fine line between "venting frustrations" and spewing garbage and that crosses it pretty swimmingly.
being a cunt is being a cunt if you demand people show you respect while you spit in their faces all you'll get is a black eye
Is this a joke post or a serious post?
you can say anything you want about white people, other races need to vent as they get frustrated at wh*te people being such pieces of shit
By this logic some redneck racist can't be racist either. He's just venting his frustrations of being society's bottom feeder, and he holds no power, either. It's a convoluted piece of non-logic manufactured to make sure that racist remarks made by non-whites can be dismissed as benign. Maybe it's useful on some academic level, I don't know, but racism is racism.
Yes, yes it is Exactly I can say the exact same to white people who demand me theirs respect after saying or doing ,stupid crap
Er... Which is it? They asked of two options, and you said "yes."
Nope, because that redneck is white, and he has the privileges in the world Especially because the president is specially focus on them
No he can, because his comments on race are going to be comparatively more effective than a PoC's.
Oh! my apologizes then... What I meant to say is "Yes, I'm serious" I had a brain fart there
Privilege is a useful concept on a societal level, not at all on an individual one. Some backwater redneck whose mom and dad are both hooked up on heroin does not have the same privilege as, say, a black person born into an affluent family. Your idea of privilege is, no pun intended, both too black and white, and all too simplistic.
But he has notably more privilege than a black person whose mom and dad are both hooked up on heroin. An a white person born into an affluent family is going to have it better than a black person born into an affluent family. Basically all too often people say what you say this and (not accusing you of it, but it happens otherwise) then ignore any racial issue that does exist. They'll say "nuh-uh, actually rich black people have it better than poor white people," and leave it at that and never consider beyond that. Yes, I agree that financial status is a much larger influence on privilege/quality of life than race. But race has an objective influence on privilege that does need to be addressed. And that's the topic on hand. Financial privilege is another topic.
Oh boy. The old "racism is prejudice + power" nonsense. And apparently blatant racism isn't racism if it's directed at white people, because that's just venting, but if some black guy bothered me on the bus and I'd complain about uppity niggers on twitter, it would be very racist. Because, uh, I got "power". Man, if only people like you had even a semblance of the amount of damage you're causing to race relations around the world with this double standard shit.
The idea is racism is "oppressing" someone, more really. If a bunch of black people bothering you on the bus is the worst it gets, you're not oppressed. You just had an annoying day. Those black people's overall lives, though, are harder for the sake of them being black.
