Oi be sure to read my guide on p2 chassis volvos. They have their fair share of issues but most can be fixed by hand.
Damn. Where I live, a Volvo S60 D5 2.4 from 2004 with 180k KM is around 9,000 Euros. A S60 D2 1.6 from 2011 with 120k KM is 20,000 Euros.
the only ex-taxi i'd buy is a Falcon or Commodore cause their I6/V6s are pretty indestructible, and you can buy them for $3.50
Oh well, that cars now been sold, I was planning to head up to view it and likely buy it for friday. What other cars would you guys recommend looking for? I have no clue about brands. I found another volvo for almost the same price sold from a dealer, though it has 255 000 km. I could get it delivered as they offer a 1 year guarantee on the engine and gearbox. It comes with a few extras though not as many as the other car I was looking at. https://www.milanuncios.com/volvo-de-segunda-mano/volvo-s60-d5-momentum-257118318.htm What other cars would you guys recommend looking for?
There really isn’t a problem with a car that has lots of km’s on it, so don’t rule any out on just that. In the case of my first car, a Mitsubishi Magna (known as a Diamante elsewhere), it had 270,000km when I bought it, but most of the km’s were from motorway driving, and it had a good servicing history. The only thing that went wrong with it was that the ignition distributor shit itself at 310,000km. But a few dollars and an hour later, everything was good as new. As opposed to a mate who years ago bought a Commodore SV6 which had been sitting in a garage for years without being touched. Low km’s, but he only ever had trouble with it. Not because the kind of car is bad, but because that specific car was neglected. As may be the case with many low km cars.
More like lowball him and if he goes for it, get out
If I were to buy another, cheap-ish car again, I’d look at a 2007-08 Fiesta ST; the 3 door Fiesta with the big 2.0L engine. They were re-badged as the Fiesta XR4 here, so if you can’t find the kind of Fiesta I’m referring to on Google, just search for Fiesta XR4 and you’ll know which one I mean. They aren’t awfully expensive now and they are probably still a blast to drive, but they’ve all probably been flogged to hell. If I were getting a four-door car again, I’d probably contemplate an Alfa 159.

Oh thanks for searching. I just took a train up to madrid yesterday and picked this up, more KM though a lot newer... and also more expensive. I drove it yesterday and today the 600km back and it all wen't pretty good. I'm hoping I didn't overpay but it seems to be going well so far. I got a 1 year guarantee with it too. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/218870/bdd562ea-ff3f-4cec-892e-40357600c908/image.png
Better take full of advantage of that warranty to iron out any all kinks. Ford-era Volvos aren't exactly lavished for their full term longevity. Congratulations though!
Thanks! Yeah it seems there's a small fault with the driver mirror where it only works on auto mode, otherwise it stops after a second. I'm guessing it's a sensor, I may get it checked at a garage and if it's fixable claim on the guarantee. Also, it has an auto adjusting anti glare mirror, but it looks like the liquid has half evaporated so only the bottom half works, is there any way to get it refilled?
