Ignoring the political parts of the video, if you're concerned about your safety using Discord just run it in a VM.
The main premise for this video seems to be that anecdotally someone said that a server that was 'verified irl' people only had its chat logs leaked, that and a statement from Discord loosely saying they would be working with a related group to take down hateful servers/content.
Bearing in mind Discord servers save every thing sent on them, you don't even need to have a bot sitting saving everything as it goes, as soon as you get a user in a server you can dump the entire chatlog of the entire server from I presume the beginning and save it in whatever format you like, so there is literally no reason to buy this data when all you need is a few minutes and access to the server to get it for free. This is also without even taking into account that they probably have fakes/plants in some of the more private communities or it's possible that an account with access could have been compromised.
The moral of the story is don't publish stuff on public facing chatrooms/forums (Especially where the messages will be permanently publicly available) that could potentially get you in trouble, doubly so if any of the information could be used to identify you. While I don't think it's very productive doxing random people being racist online (And if anything couldn't doxing someone and ruining their life isolate them/make them bitter and angry, push them further into extremism and potentially turn them into a threat to the public?), it's strange to point the finger at Discord because people posting sensitive information on a public platform are having it used against them.
I stopped watching when I saw his his personal Discord's name was "Nationalist Review"
This guy is in the shaun and jen video about charlottesville. He's a crypto-nazi lol.
The real real reason they're getting off discord is because their plans keep getting stolen by unicorn riot like this:

and then that shit shows up in court lol.
PlusEqualsMinusK you should probably uh, idk, put the brakes on your impending radicalization since you're going into the deep dark here bud.
@PlusEqualMinusK Do you intend to respond to any of the replies in the thread you posted?
I love videos with captial letters in them because it just makes me read it all in a shouty voice.
It's even BETTER when they ALTERNATE between lower case and CAPITALS.
Nazis don't like to defend themselves. Remember tudd?
Pretty good that 01271 mentioned Shaun, cus thats another account that goes to the blacklist!
I would not be surprised if this was just a troll post, you know how they act, they just post something to irritate people and then never talk again in the thread.
Either that or the guy is really serious, never seen him here enough thought, even tho he has a yellow name. Who knows, this is the internet, its a crazy place.
All I did was posted a video that was recommended to me for discussion. Why am I suddenly a nazi?
So a bunch of morons shitposted on a Discord server, then someone logged on, grabbed the logs, and ran.
And that's why Discord is "not safe"? Fuuuuuuuuuck off.
Did you watch the video you posted yourself?
Was the person who recommended the video to you, by any chance, a fan of nationalism or "military history"?
Wait, is this an euphemism for alt-right stuff too now? Fuckin' hell, I'm gonna sound like a dick if I get the job I just applied for
I accidentally clicked reply and now this is stuck in the box. The source and video are terrible,
I think he's getting at militaria collectors who only seem interested in collecting stuff from one side

any service that you dont own or operate yourself means it isnt safe, trust no-one. if you dont share any personal details anywhere, then there's nothing for them to take
So, Matrix?
For all the AI work Google does I'm actually surprised by how shit it can be in recommending me stuff I actually wanna watch. Like at some point it should realise that I basically completely ignore videos with caps in their titles, and it's also shit at discriminating between types of content from the same channel - sometimes I'll watch a thunderf00t video on whatever dumb kickstarter someone came up with; wow that must mean you'll love these FEMIBUTTHURTS GETTING CUCK-BLASTED BY GUY. And oh, you like computers? Wow, let me just use my intelligent AI algorithm to suggest to you the most popular hardware channels on youtube - I mean since you don't watch Linus Tech Tips it must mean you've never heard of that channel, right? Also you have liberal opinions, right? Here's seven seasons of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert because you liked his earlier stuff. Also here's 80 videos you've watched before.
Yeah, I'm sure you just stumbled upon a video by a white nationalist and decided to post it to a forum for no reason.
come on dude.
It's even worse with music. Youtube realised I really liked a song and now that song will be the next song to play 90% of the time no matter what i watched before.
It will even play the song, play something by the same artist, then play the fucking song again. Something i would have imagined youtube would have taken steps to ensure doesn't ever happen.
I can only imagine how irritating it would be if it was shitlord youtube clickbait as opposed to "a song".
Pretty much, tho it is a little frustrating to see that riotim (which seems to be the main client people use) seems mostly interested in following discord and slack instead of trying to beat them. It's hard enough to get people to switch to something better, but riotim feels like mostly just another laggy, buggy webapp to compete with other laggy, buggy webapps.
Ofc, it's not finished, and the point of matrix is that even if riot turns out to not really be that great, other people can write different clients. I'm not sure how much freedom clients have too, which could be another issue. Wouldn't want another XMPP-like failure occurring.
I've been using nheko, still just as beta, but isn't as web trash. No voice support

Since Matrix is just the protocol, it basically is another XMPP or IRC scenerio. You'd have upteen clients for whoever wants to support it.
Protocol remains the same for every single one of them
Whatever happened to Tox, anyway? I never see people talking about it anymore.
What kind of mental gymnastics did you have to go through to immediately assume @PlusEqualMinusK is a nazi for watching this video?
Why is it wrong to get worked over doxxing shitposters for different political views?
Yes, this title was clickbait, but there's nothing inherently racist or white supremacist in watching this video, is there? Point out specifics and explain your thoughts if you think otherwise. Don't just label people then claim the burden of justification is on them.
The entire video isn't about how Discord isn't safe, it's about how discord isn't safe to discuss racist-ass shit on because people might copy-paste your publicly available chatlogs. That's like saying Facepunch isn't safe because Facepunch is publicly available.
Fucking really? Why would you post a fucking video here if you didn't agree with its content?
Having debates is fun.
Tox still exists but the main problem with it IIRC is that its development has slowed to a crawl, and it still hasn't even been security audited.
Also it isn't super innovative tbh on a user-end. It's just an E2E peer-to-peer skype, when it seems like most people are looking for more comprehensive programs like discord, slack, etc.. nowadays.
Eh, multiple clients isn't exactly bad, but it's how well they play together. It'll probably also depend on how the community plays out too.
