IMO SSAA is the future of deferred non-post AA. It doesn't even need to be that expensive. GTA V, T:D, Far Cry 5, all allow scaling the render resolution to 125% - which isn't a hugely significant performance hit, but really pays off and eliminates almost all jaggies. Combined with TAA or even SMAA, a marginally higher render resolution is basically better than much higher levels of MSAA in my book.
I will pick TAA over 125% render resolution in BF1. That extra 25% is a huge hit for 144hz, even on a 1070.
Yeah.... SSAA is really not viable for HFR or high resolution gameplay. It has way too large a performance impact. Particularly for those using higher resolutions. Post process AA is generally pretty acceptable tbh. I can't say I've seen many implementations of FXAA that have looked outright bad. Some are a bit aggressive at times, but I think it's better than shimmery bullshit.
Anyone notice him using footage from OG Prey with the Prey 2016 theme playing throughout.
