Except Germans. Again.
Or the Italians Or the Japanese
The good old formula of shoot Germans, be heroes, end of story. We already know the formula all too well for this to be fun. Can't we have an original game finally ?
breaking news: a cheap vsauce ripoff violently rapes a soldier in middle of a firefight
V-weapons
Battlefield Vergeltung? alt history where the germans manage to win after all and it's called "retribution" because of that?
Oh, you mean Secret Weapons of WW2. That's gonna be the plot for that expansion pack, calling it now.
They might go back to vehicles being team-dependent since there are enough of them to go around to fill out the various classes ala BF4. In BF1 they had to compensate for the fact that the Axis didn't really have artillery trucks or light tanks.
Basically this, the Panzer IV will be like a reskin of the Sherman just as the Abrams and T90 were functionally the same in BF3 and BF4 (probably)
They did though. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Oq-2TIWesC8/UVQgBHZisOI/AAAAAAAAEGU/6nsT_M1LWF4/s1600/Daimler-Krupp-G1455-K-Flak.jpg http://www.alternativefinland.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/legkij_tank_lk-ii2.jpg
huh, TIL. I'll profess to not know too much about WW1 stuff. That artillery truck/car thing looks slick though.
It makes me very confused when people cry out for Vietnam while slamming WWII for being "repetitive". Like, we've had TWO Battlefield games in Vietnam since 1942, with only 1943, a crappy arcade game which didn't even see a release on PC as a pity gift for WWII fans. Not to mention, Vietnam is just frankly overrated. You want to talk about repetitive? How about almost all of Vietnam's maps would be set in the dense jungles with the occasion village and Saigon. There's absolutely fuck all when it comes to naval or aerial combat. There's only two factions (with maybe the Aussies) with probably the most over used arsenals of all time, AK47s and M16s are far more boring at this point than say, bolt actions. Meanwhile WWII's map variety can stretch from literally anything. From arctic wastelands to deserts. From forests and jungles to dense cities. From mountains to big open spaces or swamps. The war took part everywhere. There's also the arsenals and vehicles, you can have biplanes if you want or jet powered engines. Light tanks to super heavy juggernauts. Battleships and aircraft carriers to submarines. The variety is FAR greater than any other war and it's not even close. We haven't even seen France, China, Poland, Finland or many other groups or armies which played large roles in the war. A well done, original WWII game will frankly shit on any other game set in Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Falklands and some other wars people keep asking for. It's been 10 years since WWII was common and we've had countless future and modern shooters now. WWII can finally try and redefine itself at last and people should give it a chance.
A well done, original WWII game.... yeah, sure, except we had not one of those for years either. cause nobody willing to take risk to either a) invest into campaign beyond your Private Ryan and Enemy at Gates shlock. b) allow you to play for bad guys even once.
https://i.imgur.com/dP7GOQW.png Was the 'squad spawn on you' a joke or do your squad mates really spawn on top of you and force you into a cutscene where you have to press F to resist?
The player is on the British team and the enemy player is on the German team, at least I think so based on team icons at top. It looks like that guy is wearing a German uniform with Luftwaffe goggles so it might be some kind of melee attack or a Hardline style interrogation thing.
I think you're missing the point. I think its a reference to this scene: https://youtu.be/NSRr7wUjLxw About half way. Seeing that for the first time in the movie was horrifying.
Yes that is what I meant by melee attack.
Hate to be that guy but they weren't the Axis, that was the Central Powers. "Axis" has a much greater fascism tone to it.
Hitler mode after credits, you sit in the bunker, hear russians shouting above ground and fighting above, you have a cynaide pill in hand and a gun to your temple. You have a command, 'press F to kill yourself'
wtf how did they put my uncle in a video game
Wasn't there an Italian war story in BF1? Wish they had one as the Central Powers, especially since they had that part in the intro where the German and American dudes were about to kill each other and then stopped. Seemed like they were trying to say "everyone is the same in this war", but then they never had a German campaign.
Just another missed opportunity in a game chock full of them.
Come on, BattleVield is a bit more phonetically correct.
F to start Nazi colony in Argentina
Ya nothing would be more fun to me as a player than to run around slaughtering Jews or other "undesirables" while I pointlessly wreak havoc across Europe! There is no need for the Nazi's to be fetishized by allowing you to play as them through the creation of storyline taken right out of the "clean wermacht" farce; especially given the current political climate and rise of the "alt-right".
Well, to be fair. It ain't 2143.
Press R to start Nazi colony on the moon.
As funny as it may sound, a considerable portion of the Wehrmacht's actions weren't involved with the holocaust. Tell me, wouldn't a campaign covering the earlier war periods be an interesting change though? Especially given the current 'War Stories' format, the assault upon Fort Eben-Emael in the beginning of operations against Belgium could make for a very rarely utilised perspective of the war without replaying the same ol' D-Day and Stalingrad scenes.
Is it too much to ask for a Battlefield 2142 remake or a sequel with 2143?
Remember Dresden? There's also of course the Russian gulags, The United State's Japanese internment program, mutilation of Japanese dead by American Marines across the pacific, and of course the mass rapes that followed all armies. Everyone was guilty, some just far more than others.
