• Destiny Predicts an H3H3 Tweet

Spoiler alert, this is another bullshit strawman that has nothing to do with his argument. His original point was that the ability to have a career as an animator is a privileged position compared to somebody who has to work strenuous physical labor. Psychicpebbles (who already hated him over the JonTron drama) responded aggressively to this over twitter, and in a one-off remark while triggered over a tweet Destiny assumed that he made 250k a year off of his 1 million YouTube subs, ignorant of the fact that his channel has been mostly inactive for several years. This was of course interpreted as "ALL ANIMATORS MAKE 250k A YEAR" by a community that already resented him for his convo with Jon and this particular hate bandwagon was born.
making fun of true 'SJW's' is fun, but lets be real, they aren't as big a threat to society as people reee about all day
Nah he did that himself, nobody forced him to go on air and express his wished for an ethnostate.
destiny clarified this point on one of his streams. His argument is that the hardest part of becoming an internet content creator in general is getting a following, which pebbles has in spades. At that point, there's things you can do to monetize that following like amazon affiliate links, side/quick content like product reviews/art critiques, etc. He could easily increase his income without cutting into animation time too hard. I'm paraphrasing (obviously) but if you dig into it there's a lot more to it than just "this is what other youtubers make"
while it often times nowadays is used this way, it's generally not how the word was used in the past. any word can be used like this by dumb people, there's no reason to hate the word itself. destiny should keep his mouth shut when it comes to politics and non gaming related stuff. he clearly doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. but when it comes to his rare videos like the one about the shadow of mordor, he actually has a decent opinion about things. sure, he states it like an asshole, but he gets his point across.
Which is weird because he does the same shit.

Dunno what destiny you're watching but some of his political debates are some of his best content imo his first debate with Nick "92% white" Fuentes is incredible, following that up with the spiraling decent that the initial debate of Nick becoming more and more honest about his shitty views is amazing. Fun fact about that debate Nick accused Destiny of gish-galloping him when in reality of the 3 hours they spoke Nick spoke for two hours Destiny spoke for one, granted destiny can speak really fast He's spoke about some shitty things he's done/been a part of yeah friend suicide and weird fangirls but somethings like the animator shit I think was blown way out of proportion over a dumb comment, iirc it was him saying something along the lines of him saying the big youtube animators are dumb if they aren't capitalizing off all the subs they've got outside of animation (Like gamegrumps or sleepycabin) a pretty ignorant comment but its still true for a lot of youtubers/content creators. Honestly I find his witty humor and quick responses amazing or when he's learning about new topics or interacting with people in his community who have a better understanding of a topic or just fucking about in a game he's fun to watch or have in the background I just feel he gets a bad rep due to the fact a lot of "alt righters" or people who just don't like him like to keep stirring shit from having him banned off twitter with no real reason to having the actual fbi send to his home. I'm probably bias but that's my 2cent
i'm pretty sure the bigger reason Zach hated him and started to dig into him is because Destiny told him to kill himself. i think they both handled the situation like assholes. more on topic; i feel that Destiny is by no means dumb, or even that bad of a person, but doesn't use his smarts to their fullest potential. it's too often that he lets his ego take over and doesn't try hard enough to educate people on their ignorance and beliefs. the video in the op shows what i'm talking about.
The amount of hate towards Destiny is so fucking funny. Its like you people are pissed that he revealed the true side of these internet personalities. Truth's a bitch ain't it?
so you're praising the guy for taking swings at low hanging fruit? I don't really get how that's a good thing
A great proportion of the people Destiny brings onto his stream are prominent online figures with massive followings. I wouldn't call this 'low hanging fruit' at all, given a lot of them have remained otherwise massively unchallenged.
How is agreeing with disliking anti-media corporations anti-sjw at all?
Unified conspiracy theory and crank magnetism. "(((They))) control the media."
Lumping everyone who's against the media conglomerates in with neo-Nazis is letting neo-Nazis control public discourse.
That's his shtick, to be over-reactionary and over the top with his commentary. He's literal satire for the entire YouTube community. He's not a bad person, it's just popular to hate on popular people or things he just gets a bad rap for his over the top humor which can become a little too much at times.
Funny thing is, his Fuentes debate actually seemed pretty genuine debate at the start until Fuentes started talking like trump and doing the Crooked Clinton type insults, but yeah I guess so if that's all you're taking from his streams then I'd suggest watching something else. I just recommend people to watch more of the guy that isn't hit pieces, watch his streams or hang out in his discord if you want to know more about him. Sorry he isn't what you like I guess.
Denying the fact that neo-nazis have significant influence on the public discourse is letting them control it. Neo-nazi conspiracy theories about "the media" (and really they're just Nazi conspiracy theories since they predate the war) have existed for almost 100 years now, and they've made their way into public discourse via reactionaries. Elon Musk is just a stooge jumping on for the ride because someone reported facts he didn't want people seeing.
Nothing of which invalidates any opinions or efforts by people who genuinely want the media to be broken up and be held more accountable for their reporting and not because it's the juden or something. Popular media outlets have been reporting solely to make money and headlines and not to bring hardhitting journalism and education on world events for quite a while now.
What do you mean broken up? Hell a lot of the companies that people develop beefs with are pretty small outlets like fader, and the one that prompted elon musk's outrage was some nobody local Portland outlet.
Are we seriously equating criticism of the media with nazism? The idea that if nazis criticise something then everyone who criticises it must be a nazi is absurd reasoning.
It's not anti-SJW but there is a problem with overlooking a potentially massive conflict of interest for the sake of sticking it to the media.
the fact that 6 media companies control 90% of the media in america is pretty fucking scary tbh. don't conflate alex jones tier conspiracy theory with basic observational fact. the old media is a shitty monopoly that's slowly losing it's power for good reasons, nothing to oppose there. they should be broken up under antitrust laws ffs
I don't think his SJW toteming is "playing a character" because it extends to his Twitter and podcast as well, and I don't think he's trying to play a character at all there. And he speaks about such things in a very serious tone.
I can understand his podcast, there was the one where he kept mentioning that he was being stalked by that one dude as a funny bit, but even I thought that dragged on for too long or got blown out of proportion. Serious tone is key to satire at times, to keep it absurd but also playing the role like you're serious about it. He plays a character similar almost to Filthy Frank or... god forbid... Sam Hyde. Everyone takes both so seriously but they are both characters that do satire and basically online standup comedy. Really I take everything he says with a grain of salt, and I think you should too, otherwise it robs the entertainment value. You don't have to like H3H3, but you need to understand that his work is satire, and taking it as seriously as possible will ruin the value of it.
when does it stop at humor, his podcasts and twitter have the same exact anti-sjw boogeymen rhetoric there too, when those are supposed to be him outside of his "character".
When do you start taking Filthy Frank, Sam Hyde or even Tyler the Creator's tweet's seriously. Again, they are characters that are from a work of satire, I don't want to sound any more of a broken record than I was in my last post.
sam hyde is a literal piece of shit and showed his true colors after losing his show. And satire doesn't require a serious tone almost never, that's why its satire in the first place.
I guess I have a stronger stomach for this stuff than you do :\ I won't even bother opening the "humor is objective/subjective" can of worms either
The reason I dont like Destiny is because he just was an unbearable cunt on twitter, he always acted smug or tried to provoke other people who were against him, till he got suspended that is. He also tends to get quite unstable when angry not only he starts waving his arms like crazy, on games he goes full fucking racist or starts sending death threats, he REALLY loves the word Gook for some reason. Seems like the guy needs some therapy, cus this seems to be a common thing from him It also doesnt help that his fanbase is fucking annoying, they like to go on witch hunts or just act smug all the day. For example when Destiny got suspended from twitter, they started finding every account who was mocking Destiny's suspension, and calling them a bunch of nazis or right wingers, which while some of them were, most were not, most hated Destiny because they found him just unbearable.
