When you want to remove kebab but realized you've remove commie
historically inaccurate meme
Yeah. No shit.
historically inaccurate and unfunny "meme"
If you're going to make a terrible reference, at least make it a decent one.
"This is Eagle Six."
Sorry im a fucking eu4 player. I ain't up to date on the goddamn meme lingo.
No matter what they do or what content they add, it's not going to change the fact that our homes are safe.
SWABBING SITES
So I guess the big question for me, is the game still alive as in will I be able to find a decent, full US server? It's been awhile since I've loaded up the game, but I remember being somewhat let down when there was a really small map choice. I've pretty much played Red Orchestra 2 ever since, but I remember it was pretty fun hearing people scream into the mic in horror.
The games pretty popular, I mean theres always a bunch of servers populated, the server I play on is hosted in the UK but its almost full of americans late at night in our timezone
Map rotation is decent, the new aussie maps have bought some rotation to the game so its not always cu-chi/hue, new update apparently has a bunch of new/reworked maps too
What a brilliant trailer, this is exactly what most games should do
combination of gameplay and cinematic shots of gameplay
Ive wanted this game for a while now, is it time for me to buy it? What do you guys think? I played RO2 for a bit and had al ot of fun.
From the trailer, I have yet to understand what is in the update.
This was a really bad trailer compared to the last one, barely anything was shown on the ARVN. I guess they wanted it to be more like a trailer advertising the whole game instead of just the new update.
the ARVN
Yeah it was more like "this is the whole game as of now" instead of "this is the new content".
This isn't the most widespread opinion, but I'll say it's probably the weakest entry in the Red Orchestra series so far. Quite simply because the gameplay is much less interesting, thanks to the fact that everyone gets an assault rifle, which means the most basic footsoldier can now do reasonably well as a marksman out to 200 meters, a light machinegunner laying suppressive fire, an assault-trooper going in close and clearing trenches or buildings, and whatever other role you want him to do. In the earlier WWII entries, you were quite restricted in your capabilities. A machinegunner was fucked if thrown into close combat, a rifleman was outgunned in tight quarters, a SMG gunner was hopeless beyond 50ish meters. There was tradeoff. Not really the case any more, the M16 and AK47 just dominates all ranges, all the time.
Also the guns definitely don't feel like they have the same punch. One of the things that I really enjoyed about RO2 was that (on it's realism mode) it had some of the most satisfying gunplay in any game I've ever played. Now it seems like people can take more hits before dying and it just doesn't feel quite as good. I guess I can see why it was a necessary change now that everyone is using automatics instead of bolt action rifles.
Funny'nt?
I think they were trying to go for a more 'casual' setting I suppose this time around to attract a wider audience. They tried doing it with RO2 and launch was a disaster, and I remember a large portion of the community feeling betrayed because they got stuck with little tanks, some maps, and like a few modes meant for casual, instead of the realism mode that Ostfront had offered before. I think this time, they were trying to pull it off again.
In terms of gunplay and general gameplay, it's pretty similar but in terms of class design it's pretty different. They're much more specialized in RS2 because squad leaders are no longer a class and assault rifles make the whole balance around classes with different guns obsolete. On top of that, each non-rifleman class is extremely limited so people playing their class correctly is important if you want to win. Some classes also come with different loadouts depending on your primary weapon. With the release of the M2 Carbine, grenadiers can either pick the M79 (which also comes with different shell loadouts like buckshot, smoke or HE) or the M2 with a smoke grenade and 4 frags.
Where it falters, though, is general gameplay balance. Damage is really strange, it's like the devs are trying too hard to be realistic and end up making the game kinda wank. For the longest time, there was a problem where full-power rifles like the M14 and Mosin-Nagant were underpowered in comparison to the AK and M16 but to counter that they just buffed full-power rifles and nerfed intermediate rifles to the point where the M1911 is more likely to kill in one shot than the M16.
I'd say get it on sale for like 12 bucks, if only to enjoy how much effort they put into the guns.
I still prefer RO2 for the more satisfying gunplay as every aimed shot hit where you were looking at. As much as it's used for balance because everyone has an AR, the new dynamic sight sway system only ends up making the ARs feel like shitty Pakistani home-shed made SMGs that can't hit anything beyond 40m with the sway and more shots to kill. There's also the fact that RS2's customization system can sometimes make player identification pretty difficult as I usually have to do a triple take against any shirtless man who isn't already doing their faction-specific sprint animation. In RO2, both sides have their own color palette which you can use to identify someone in any pixel sightline instantly. There's also something about RO2's clunkiness that felt right to me that's missing with the smoothened out movement of RS2.
Pretty much the only few things RS2 has it going for me are the good optimization, great sound design, the realistic Vietnam niche and being the most active Red Orchestra game currently. If it's a thing, I'd gladly take RO2/RS1 in the updated engine over RS2 any day.
the one-shot insta kill, laser beam gameplay of RO2 was ridiculous. It became a camp and pixel scumming fest because firefights simply did not happen with how easy it was to laser beam some guys head at 200 meters.
the gunplay is massively improved in RS2 via small, non-obnoxious additions, chiefly stuff like momentary sight misalignment, reducing the range of hitscan solutions (from memory, RO2 is hitscan out to something like 80 yards, which contributes to the nonsense of everyone being a crack shot), and making wounding more prevalent than outright killing. (contrary to popular belief, this IS more realistic, people dont die from being shot instantly, they die from massive blood loss. This can take quite a while if the bullet didn't penetrate the heart)
I can never get behind any arguments that RO2 is better than RS2, RS2 is an improvement in almost every respect, massively so IMO.
You have sophisticated humor for someone who posts NIGGER two thousand times a day in OIFY
your zinger is stolen lol
damn it
Australia simply has more mainstream appeal and is more interesting of a nation, equipment-wise. And that's all that matters when you make a game, really.
I agree but it's still a fun game and those problems kinda come with the territory. At least they didn't make it Soviets in Afghanistan like some morons on reddit clamor for.
Not to mention the fact you have to unlock the ability to use factory issue equipment for your weapons. Gotta get to level 50 with PPSH to use its semi auto mode, gotta hit level 25 to be allowed to put your bayonet on. That shit's casual as fuck aimed at people who go nuts for unlocks.
So glad that RS2 made the unlocks for cosmetics only.
