If anything the only thing they would keep from 2 is that the world is going to shit. They simply could ignore everything else.
why does Nero look like they just used the Scalebound protagonist or recolored DmC Dante's hair and called it a day
The original idea for Dante's part in DMC4 was for him to go through the nine circles of hell so a lot of fans speculate that 4 would have been a sequel to 2 before Capcom cut the funding and forced them to rush it.
I didn't get into DMC but I'm hyped for this imagining that's Geralt riding a mechanical Roach at the end
I don't like the visuals and character designs at all. They're so stanky and generic I thought it was gonna be a sequel to the shitty reboot at first and it deflated by hype long before Dante had a chance to appear and get me interested again.
it's cool that they're using the re engine for dmc5.
also lol at all these self-proclaimed dmc fans getting hyped when they see the devil may cry reveal on the side of the truck, but then confusingly wonder who the character is even after seeing him fucking REV UP HIS SWORD.
dante? dante?? dante??? dante>?????
Anyone who still didn't get who he was after the voice actor said Kyrie's name needs to go back and play dmc4.
it was immediately obvious to me who it was when i saw the blue coat, 1 arm, and revved sword.
Nero looks like a platinum haired Cody Rhodes
I wonder who the 3rd dude is at the end of the video with all the tattoos. I saw some youtube comments saying that it could be Vergil but first of all where the hell would he get the tats from he had none in DMC3 and he sure as fuck didn't get them while he was stuck as Nelo Angelo.
After getting some sleep and another look at the trailer, some thoughts:
Let's get the negativity out first:
Visually it doesn't look like a sequel to the DMC series. A lot of the trailer could pass as "DmC 2".
Not the biggest fan of the photorealistic characters and grim-dark city enviroments.
Demon designs also feel lacking, we've had demon controlled marionettes and bug-filled scarecrows and now... spiky butthead angel freaks?
Music isn't my style either, I expected rocking tunes, got music that could be in just about any other trailer today.
I hope the game itself has a proper successor to THE TIME HAS COME and the other legendary tracks.
Not liking glasses woman, just another, super wacky female sidekick.
DMC is crazy but I felt like the trailer was trying a bit too hard to one-up things, especially with the van scene. There is such a thing as too much crazy, just like too much sugar in one cup.
Grumping over, now:
DEVIL MAY CRY 5
HIDEAKI ITSUNO
NERO AND DANTE BACK AGAIN, VERGIL TOO?
THANK YOU CAPCOM

Ultimately, this is Devil May Cry 5.
I might not like the design direction but after a decade, I'll sure as hell take it.
Looks awesome. I'm just so hyped to see Nero and Dante again, with Vergil doing dick stuff in the background.
Not really feeling the art style yet, looks too "DmC" inspired, but i'm ready for a new Devil May Cry, so i'm excited regardless.
ah yeah, that classic music when dante shows up. I hope the soundtrack goes even deeper in on industrial electronic and DnB, the DmC ost was great

So let me get this straight , you people like his new design because the old neo was a copy paste of dante , even though this neo basically looks the same as dante from DmC ?
who the fuck is neo
Who is "You people"?
Talking to the nebuolous internet like they failed to meet your expectations of outrage is pretty pointless
fixed , thanks
The biggest problem with reboot Dante wasn't his appearance but his attitude and personality. Nero in this trailer acts and speaks just like Nero in DMC4 and even seem like he has somewhat matured and the gameplay looks like a refined version of DMC4 instead of the watered down stuff from DmC. The tone and style is still mostly intact even if the character designs have gone through some changes.
DmC made getting SSS rank as easy as pressing the triangle button on the controller with one weapon 5 times in a row. Meanwhile in DMC4 you have to hot swap 4 weapons constantly while juggling a demon and fighting another across from the juggle. Also DmC had enemies that could only be killed by certain weapons, so hot swapping with combos was actually frowned upon.
Getting an SSS rank in DMC4 isn't actually that hard once you figure out some neat tricks, the challenge lies in maintaining that rank. Pre-patched DMC would keep your rank indefinitely even if you didn't pull of combos this killing most of the challenge, that plus the fact that the demon dodge was OP and let you kill most bosses in seconds made the game an absolute joke even on Dante Must Die.
As long as we get the same funny quips and one liners from Dante, with bad ass stylish cutscenes and gameplay, i'll be very happy.
Oh yeah, you could also stay in the air indefinately in DmC by using the scythes scoop move or your grappling hook, it even let your reach the invisible ceiling. In DMC3&4 staying in the air and aerial maneuvers where tricky and took extreme practice.
Yo that sidekick girl though
Trashy but cute
Yeah it took me a while for some reason. I didn't even notice the revved sword but he just seemed so... Different? In DMC4, he was a lot more, well, emo. Not smiling and wise-cracking, but just the darker and edgier. Here he seems like a natural progression of DmC's Dante having white hair now (which is what I was really afraid of at first). He's smirking and loud, which was a lot different from DMC4 Nero. But the sword rev + one hand playstyle + single gun + KYRIE are too telling
My guess is that after the events of DMC4 Nero changed his outlook on life a bit. He'd finally found someone like him in Dante, realised he's part of something bigger, and helped get rid of the oppressive church he'd lived under.
A cockier, happier and more driven Nero could be quite fun.
