These problems were fixed in the Grounded mode they added after the game released, and due to the backlash I'm sure they've learned their lesson.
I have faith in the new AI and the game to look and play like this trailer shows.
Naughty Dogs animations have always had this notable jank snappiness to them because each cycle kind of awkwardly clicks into the next and even if they even smooth out the imperfections, you'd still be capable of actually noticing the switches. The technology they use where characters scan the environment to choose what to do with their attacks inherently means that this kind of thing will happen no matter how good you are at animating.
Except id solved it by stealing an exArkane animator and Halo never had it at all, and both of those ai packages used sight cones and environment tags.
Hell Dragon's Dogma had tweening and had seven people doing every animation locked at 30.
It's just not a priority for the team.
Also gotta mention the annoying trope of bow + human = instagib.
Like, they show a dude getting stabbed in the stomach and gutted alive and he still has the energy and endurance to scream his lungs out while it happens yet seconds later you shoot one cunt in the shoulder blade and they collapse with barely more than a gasp.
