So... This is from Nigeria.

This man is clearly ready to fuck shit up.
So a modern trapdoor carbine, and someone made an Obrez automatic.
I think the futuristic setting was a daring move that didn't pay off, but I don't think they were wrong. Saying it was a mistake because people play with modern day mods is stupid though, that's like saying it was a mistake because people play with WW2 mods. They just do that because they can recreate scenes from fiction or real life. With a futuristic setting you're much more limited as there have been no real space ant battles in Greece.
I think the problem was they didn't take it far enough. Where is my railgun tank, Bohemia!

2035 wasn't future enough. Imagine if it was 2142 (if they're be nuts enough to do so).
I think the problem with a future setting in Arma doesn't come from the aesthetic, but instead from gameplay
A realistic "ground combat sim" doesn't seem fun when it's full of high tech weaponry that'll kill you before you ID enemies shooting at you.
Which is probably something the devs thought about since nothing in the game is exactly as fuck-you-advanced as it should be in 2035, and instead the game is full of things that either behave like current tech, or straight up is current tech, all wearing the mask of advanced 2035 technology.
Really the only things they've added that really fit the setting are compact head-worn thermals, the CSAT OICW, and some of the drones and VTOLs
That's what it seems like they tried to do with the HALO gunships in Apex.
Also iirc the future setting was chosen because they didn't want to pay royalties to the various arms companies to use the names and likenesses of current tech, though i could be wrong on that
It's such a bummer there's no OICW weapons like the K11. That's the kind of future guns I'd like to see over caseless guns.
at least they didn't went goldeneye 64 on the weapons.
The jets in A3 look like Quinnjets from the MCU.

That's just a Skyranger.
Love those jets though, they're probably the most futuristic things in the game and that's probably why they're so great. Pretty unique.
Would've loved to see something like laser guided rockets for your underslung grenade launcher in arma. If anything it'd be a cool concept to explore.
They did play the small-arms a bit safe. Hell, you can see pre-alpha footage showing stuff like the XM-25 which has since been removed, which is a real shame too.
Government equipment should be Fair Use, if you want to model a Humvee in your game featuring the US Army, you should be allowed to.
It’s very likely. It’s why the guns in MGSV are all fictional, despite being a series known for featuring a lot of real world guns that can be used by the player. Kojima thought it was a little hypocritical to be making anti-war games while simultaneously paying royalties to arms manufacturers.
How many gun designs are still copyright protected anyway? I know obviously most of the names are trademarked, but the AR15 and AKM designs are public domain, as are the 1911, 1900, and high-power pistol designs, and of course the Mauser action too, not sure about the classic FAL or G3 though.
Yeah,i think it was said in this thread or in the last one that AM General wanted to sue Activision for using the Humvee in the COD franchise. But since it´s being discontinued of production,i wonder if it would stick.
It's still their intellectual property, discontinued or not.
His games profit from the fact that war exists, but it doesn't promote it. In fact, it conveys a very strong anti-war message.
Not exactly. Ignoring the problematic implications of the concept of "intellectual property," trademarks, and IIRC formerly US copyrights, can be invalidated if they're "abandoned" or cease to be used by their owners.

US SF Flyer GMVs on patrol in Afghanistan
Special forces vehicles are always the coolest looking
Its pretty much a tank in a small package.
Not wanting to be "that guy" but isn't it customary to obscure people's faces in special forces pics to avoid doxxing etc?
Awesome pics anyway
