the gun that was born completely perfect.
I'm sad HK never ended up making that HK25 belt-fed in .50BMG that they talked about though.
.50BMG roller delayed might be uh... a tad too much for something that doesn't physically lock
I never understood why these types of APCs never took off. You'd think being as armored and as fast as a MBT would be useful for your squishy infantry.
Its not like the rest of the army can keep up with MBTs these days as it is.
Heavy and usually expensive since they are converted MBTs. The Israelis are replacing the M113s with Namers at an extremely slow rate due to budget constraints. Other countries have some concerns about airlifting them.
There is also an American company called TrackingPoint who makes a system that works just like that, except thats more integrated with the weapon. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1195/2349823f-7ca6-449a-8ebd-b52ff6016f62/tracking-illustration-large-reskin.jpg I don't know, this might become a semi-popular thing years later, but (like laser sights in the 80s) right now they seem to be waay too expensive and heavy.
I'm not entirely sure it'd ever work, either. Most studies agree that volume-of-fire is what wins firefights, so a system like that would reduce it a lot for everyone except maybe designated marksmen and other precision roles, but I bet they're generally better shots than what that computer would be.
It would probably make more sense as a situation awareness booster rather that some precision amplifier. Like, a thing that may come in handy is a helmet mounted display with a high-res camera capable of recognizing and marking(maybe somehow less irritating than bright red rects) all the enemies in sight in a matter of milliseconds, decreasing the time to figure out what's going on and giving the ability to just set priorities and start shooting. The algorithm and hardware obviously already exist(I also remember pretty much the same thing was available in that scope looted from the spetsnaz operator killed in Syria a year or two ago), so all they need to do is split the scope into separate modules(visual + processing and power) and maybe miniaturize some of them a bit .
Congrats, you now have malaria

small price to pay for defending one of the greatest nations on earth died too soon maybe we’ll bring it back http://blog.helion.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Photo-2-1.jpg
Uuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Every fucking time.
Let's not go down that rabbit hole again. Post nice looking handguns instead. I like the S&W Model 39, I think it's pretty nice looking and I feel like a lot of people forget it exists. The MK22 "Hush Puppy" is probably the most well known of the Model 39 derivatives, but even that's somewhat obscure. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107029/99f96cb7-9a4a-4f36-a649-a0ae527e595c/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107029/594a9895-5dd8-43d5-bf98-e1c4e49cc460/image.png And of course there's the later M5906 which comes with an 80s-tastic stainless steel finish. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107029/135a39e6-69d7-4854-866c-163f2beb6ebe/image.png
it wasn’t as bad as people lead you to believe, my family is from the area and I can tell you more about it once I get home if you are interested.
Please don't, I've heard the "my family" story twice already.
what's going on in here
I feel like I'm missing something here

Rhodesia, a state built on apartheid on steroids, being defended as 'greatest nation on earth' and 'not as bad as people say'. 1970's South Africa was asking them to chill down a little, if you're wondering how bad it was.
My biggest question is why does the first one have both a folding vertical grip and an angled grip Is it designed by the same guy who made the Nintendo 64 controller?
you know i'm pretty pro-gun but i see things like this and realize maybe firearms should be banned so nobody can do this to them
Isn't the Model 39 the one that the Illinois State Police adopted as an off-duty concealed weapon to replace their shitty snub-nosed revolvers back in the '50s?
Well if you wanna talk about Rhodesia's coolest weapon, how about we keep with the thread theme and talk about their ugliest ones. https://biochemicaltest.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Biochemical-Test-of-Vibrio-cholerae.jpg Vibrio Cholerae, the bacterium that causes Cholera. http://periodictable.com/Samples/081.5/s9s.JPG Thallium, a toxic heavy metal. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/eb/Methyl%26Ethylparathion.png/1200px-Methyl%26Ethylparathion.png Parathion, a highly toxic insecticide developed by IG Farben during WW2. https://img00.deviantart.net/8c5a/i/2017/194/7/c/bacillus_anthracis_1_anthrax_bacteria__oranment_by_trilobiteglassworks-dbg5zcx.jpg Bacillus anthracis, motherfucking anthrax! Rhodesia's Chemical Biological Warfare program laced these agents into the food, water, and medical supplies of guerrilla held territories.
If we are gonna talk about Rhodesia, the least we can do is talk about their most effective operation: Operation Eland They waltzed into a guerilla camp which was across the river in Mozambique, and with the help of a turncoat ZANLA commander, just drove a bunch of vehicles into the middle of the camp, blew a whistle, and cut down everyone when they came out. Original numbers from the Rhodesians put the ZANLA's KIA at around 350, but later records came out and stated that they were responsible for roughly 1500+ KIA. Only four Rhodesian scouts were wounded.
Speaking of leverguns with modern shit on it, found this on reddit: https://i.imgur.com/eqdeGLg.jpg Minus the suppressor and diagonally mounted rds, I'm not sure how to feel about it.
That's 100x better than the usual tactical lever shit.
I may be wrong, but I believe it's because Australia. Those Adler lever action shotguns made a big splash over there a couple years back because they skirted around most of Australia's gun control laws. There was talk of completely overhauling said laws as a result, not sure what the outcome was, but for a while it was looking like tactical lever guns would be a thing over there.
