The only issue I have with optics these days is that they're generally expensive. An Aimpoint CompM4 like what we use in the US will run about $800 on the civilian market. An Aimpoint PRO, like what I've got on my AR, will run between $300-400. You can get Vortex red dots for even cheaper, but I don't know of any militaries that have adopted Vortex models, solid as they are. A decent set of irons sights will generally run about $75-100. Think about how much ammo you could buy with the cost savings.

Practice is severely underrated.
