Cooliest/Uglest Weapons v10 - FAL Pride World Wide

I mean you can't really blame 30 corps for not being able to make it to Arnhem. They had to deal with shit like blown bridges which set them back a few hours, along with the fact that they had to take Nijmegen bridge themselves and at that point Arnhem was pretty much already gonzo.
Here's some Shermans at Nihmegen because I like Shermans.

Shermans are very aesthetically pleasing
Market Garden is one of those operations that really is hard to describe the outcome of, and the 'blame' for.
It was absolutely worth it to give it a shot and not a 'waste of lives' as a lot of older historians tend to claim. Had it succeeded, Berlin could have been captured before Christmas 1944, by the Western allies no less.
It was an absolutely astonishing amount of ground covered and frontline pushed in a very, very short time; breaking out of the stalemate that was Western Europe in the fall.
There could in theory be more troops committed to it to strengthen the landings, but whether that would have changed terribly much is dubious.
XXX corps did a damn good job, pretty much reinventing British mechanized doctrine on the way just for the purpose of the operation.
In the end, I like to see it as a case of "Even if you do everything right, it still might not work out". It was an expensive, risky gamble but worth the risk and the cost, no matter how it ended up.
Right at the back behind 7 or 8 real Shermans though.
You can tell which ones are fake because their tracks hover an inch off the ground.
It's a shame about them using Patton's for German tanks, but, it's almost tradition at this point. That and T34 tigers.
Nah, they used German tanks for German tanks.

No wonder the invasion failed when the Germans used Leopards.
Also, disguised tanks by germans:

Everyone always posts the semi-decently-disguised Erstatz M10 Panther and forget the terror that is the StuG variant

Supposed to imitate a Priest howitzer.
Hey now don't bulli Stug, it just wanted to fit in with the Americans.
Didn’t the Germans intercept intel about the operation so they were able to mount effective counterattacks?
They had suspected it based on troop movements. Weren't entirely aware of the plan though. On the other hand the allies were aware of the presence of the 9th and 10th SS panzers, but Monty didn't think it was acceptable to delay the assault long enough to counter that.

The Patria/Sisu Pasi lives on in a new modernized variant
Sounds to me like operation planning should have taken setbacks like that into account, and been more conservative in selecting objectives. Unless the prize is sufficiently tempting, it's better to play a slow, careful game and keep arguably irreplaceable troops alive rather than throw them away on a gamble. I understand Gen. Montgomery was under pressure to give the Germans a knockout blow though, lest the bulk of offensive supplies and assets wind up diverted to his rival, Gen. Patton.
If there's any blame to be put it's intel dropping the ball and people like General Gavin and Browning because for reasons beyond me they believed there were 1000 panzers in the Reichswald just next to their LZ so they didn't take their bridges. The LZ for Arnhem bridge was a really bad idea too. Also General Gavin gets the most ire from me just because of this tin can being named after him. A man can't be good if fanboys of this thing want to name it after him.

Oh god, don't remind me of those ~Combat Reform!!~ fucktards.
God the PIAT was such an awful weapon.
That fucktard. It's one guy. And he's glorious and beautiful and hilarious.
Piat seems like the fat man from fallout. Cept somehow worse
The PIAT wasn't that bad. It's roughly comparable to the Panzerfaust in penetration, accuracy and range; and a good team could get a rather impressive rate of fire going with it when compared to the rocket-weapons. Add to that the ability to be fired from confined spaces, much more concealable after firing, and the fact that it's slightly less bulky than comparable weapons, and you got a pretty decent thing going.
The PIAT looks especially good when you compare it with some of the stuff the British homeguard was using. A spring assisted spigot mortar that can take out a medium tank is a lot better than a break action shotgun, a truck covered in concrete and shingles, or a bayonet on a pipe.
Except a panzerfaust is cheap, light weight and doesn't require specialised tools to use. A PIAT has none of those and about the same effectiveness.
You should all just as the M/48 Carl Gustaf because fuck you, it's best at everything.
