Not me, but a friend. He put slicks on the car for autocross, and was going to tighten down the lugs after 2 laps. He got a rerun on his second lap because of a track issue, and on the 3rd lap, the wheel went off to do it's own thing. They towed the car off the course, he got a few spare lug nuts, and put it back on and raced the rest of the day. He made sure to check the lugs after every 2 laps after that. The first time they had about 1/8th of a turn each to tight, and after that they were good and didn't move the rest of the day.
Throttle response in the civic is doo doo. My mustang used to rev to the moon when you would blip the throttle. It's throwing off my rev matching when downshifting. I guess I'll be getting a flash pro and some intake/exhaust mods to help with that. Also gonna look into lightweight pullies and a lightweight flywheel when my clutch needs to be replaced.
Why on earth did you get a civic??
Because my F-150 (2015 Lariat FX4 Supercrew with the 3.6L EcoBoost), while nice, gets like 19 mpg and I drive like 90 miles a day round trip just for work. So I wanted to get a gas saving work beater to save wear and tear on my truck. So I got a 2006 Civic with a 1.8L R18 and 5-speed manual trans, and I'm getting like 30-40 mpg now.
Oh, okay, fair enough. I thought you had gotten ri of the f-150.
Nah. I'm keeping it until it dies. My gf is using it to go to school, but her school is like 2 miles down the road from the apartment. For everything else, we use the civic.
@fcfordlord those wheel bearings lmfao they look like you dredged them off the bottom of the ocean
Was able to get a somewhat close measurement of my truck's MPG. Checking what gas I used after mostly highway / some city use, new motorcraft OEM intake filter, a mix of conservative with cruise control / sporty driving, and rare AC usage I estimate my 97 Explorer gets 15 MPG. Not the best but not the worst considering how old it is. I will keep trying to see if I can improve it.
my daily does single digits on the highway. I'd love to see 15 out of it again
Here's my pic dump update! The garage project.. trusses set and next step is to sheet the roof with OSB. https://imgur.com/5s10ZEf https://imgur.com/mP1zjuV https://imgur.com/6yOhhdD The excitement of doing the oil pan gasket on the '78 Celica. https://imgur.com/PwGVdX3 New project is a friend's '13 Camaro. He ran over a tie strap at some point and the wheel whipped it around and dinged up the side of the car. Forgot to take a before picture.. but here I started scuffing the dinged areas to prep for some for some filler. https://imgur.com/rHq2e3P Some thin coats of filler.. spread, block, spread. https://imgur.com/2Hbu9ZD And then after blocking we're left with some nice smooth panels. Left if with one final skim coat tonight then it'll be time for primer. https://imgur.com/DE2V9qG My room mate had a birthday party last saturday, too. That was quite a spectacle. https://imgur.com/LWeBITk https://imgur.com/XWONTjX
I haven't done much but I did get these seat covers on the sotra a month after I ordered em. Heh. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/268065/db1bfd60-f779-403f-b800-781f3c66f9f4/20180716_182905 (1).jpg My dad has also been doing the body work on the vic. I'll post some pictures soon. But he was able to straighten shit with the jeep's winch and then he has been filling in dents and stuff too. We think with the extra paint (we will have extra) we might paint at least the top part of the sentra silver too. We might do a tri-tone with silver red and black, not sure yet. He wants to also get the toyota painted by the end of summer too.
Congrats! Told you that thing would come out okay.
Clutch the garage is looking amazing
A 700r4 is a 4l60e, they just changed the name in like the mid 90s and added some circuit boards
Hey lads. Having my car’s transmission checked on Monday, but I’m just curious if anyone has an idea of what is actually going wrong with my car at the moment. Car has a torque converter auto gearbox, but it has been uncooperative lately. Occasionally when shifting, their will be a hollow noise and some vibrations. Also, when you’re coasting along but put your foot on the throttle, the revs will climb momentarily (for about a second) but wheel speed will not, but then the torque converter will lock and the revs go back to where they should be. I think many auto gearboxes are a bit like this, but the effect is more pronounced than it has been in the past. If my car had a manual gearbox I’d figure that it would be the clutch being worn out and slipping, but of course I have an auto. It must be something with the torque converter. Transmission fluid leak? (haven’t noticed any leaks though). Or just a Ford being a Ford?
did you check the trans fluid level?
Since you mentioned a metal noise like that and that you drive an auto... flexplate?????? Saw one at my work a few weeks back on an f-150. At first we thought it was the starter making a clack but nope. RIP.
met another C30 owner (yes they exist) at broke.east. i remembered though how much i hate car meets https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/180360/4578183a-65c2-45aa-95e9-0189c843e86d/IMG_20180715_122353.jpg interestingly enough, someone stole my rear wiper blade at that meet. who the fuck does that?
No because I’m a fucking idiot It’s going in for its regular every 15,000km service tomorrow anyways. I will be sure to hear how much of a fucking moron I am if the blokes at the service centre enquire about it and find out it’s something as simple as that
there are some, main ones are held by groups like mighty car mods and downshift most of the time they're fucken terrible
https://i.imgur.com/ipoMAe5.jpg So I kinda rebuilt the stripes a bit on my car. I took them off, up until the front fenders, so they kinda dropped off the face of the earth when it came to the doors. Also got it nice and clean and repaired most of the damage I've had on it. Not sure what I wanna do to it now. I kinda wanna throw an exhaust on it to make it loud, but other than that I can't think of anything it needs.
Car meets are really big in the US since the car culture here is probably stronger/more varied than most other places, you can always find a group to fit in with with some effort. I think Europe has some too in areas where interesting cars aren't prohibitively and there is a bit of racing heritage. Japan too, I think? Africa has Somalis who squad up in Toyotas and AK47s/RPGs, which is definitely my favorite of them all. I don't think it's something contained to our borders.
fill those gooped-up holes with proper NMO plugs and clean off all the excess sealant. Whoever did the removal of the antennas did a pretty crap job. (I do vehicle antenna installs and it hurts me to see a roof like that)
Dude it drives me nuts too. It was worse when I got it. A few holes didn't have goop in them, and were just open to the elements. I threw plugs in them, one had a nice fat 8ga cable for the light bar just sticking out, which I cleaned that up. I have been tempted to throw some NMO plugs in there and fill them with antennas and just have a ton of them sticking out of the car, but I only need the one antenna since I do use it to monitor radio traffic at work, but it's only 2 frequencies. They wont issue me a P25 head to get in contact with the state PD.
Time to lawyer up! Hoonigan is copying meeeeeeeeeeee Jokes aside, they are building a E36 track car with an LS1. Sure it's been done before, but not often as actual track car. Quite interesting to see what they'll do. https://youtu.be/XGwqNYNSX44
It'll be good to watch, maybe you will be able to siphon some ideas to use in your own project.
Nah they bought the 5000$ vorslag swap kit. headers, mounts. aka the most expensive and boring way to do so.
Hoonigan really targeting their demographic: Wussy babies.
