Yo, do SAAB 9-3s make for decent daily drivers? There's a shop close by that specializes in them selling a manual 2005 aero for a good price.
Personally i've never even seen one, and i've heard a ton of conflicting opinions on their reliability. Seems nice enough, though
Araknid can prolly say more
Apart from their hit and miss reliability, they're really nice to drive every day, especially if manual.
Comfy as hell, quick (even quicker with a tune), and really, really nice handling. If it's a specialised shop selling it then i'd assume it would be in good condition. If you bought it then I'd recommend you keep going to them for servicing and all that shit.
How much are they selling it for, how many km/miles?
$4500 with 76K miles. Everything looks good on it, and the shop has a pretty good reputation it seems.
Mileage doesn't seem too bad, if you've got the money to spare I'd consider it. Take it for a drive, see how you like it.
Well, I can't say I'm surprised.

Anyone else get graphics glitches when scrolling through posts? Looking at the above post in Chrome, I see the background sneaking through in like blocks.
The Stront-BMW will always be leaps and bounds more interesting because of the detailed build thread he's given to us
I've grown really, really bored/tired of youtube car mod videos/ channels (never was overly fond of them to begin with) because the vast majority them are boring vlogs (I'm looking at you, MotionAutoTV) and a bunch of dick-waving disguised as "This is what I'm doing/did to my car today, here's a video of it!" or "I'm going to buy/ bought this car today, here's a video of it!" when in all reality it just feels like there's an underlying "and I had the cash to do it, so what's up now?"
I could be wrong, but the ridiculous clickbait titles/ thumbnails and constant mental retardation (I'm looking at you, Ricer Miata) mean I stay away as much as I can.
Now Bad Obsession Motorsports and their Project Binky toyota turbo 4wd Mini... now that's something I enjoy. More of that please! If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and go watch all of it. Spoilers it's not done yet. But they're such funny guys and the time they take on both the car and videos are amazing. One of the best things on youtube for a car guy.
Aside from that only semi-relevant tangent, here's the progress on my friend's Camaro.
I fitted his lip kit to see if he wanted it painted car color or flat bumper black. We decided on black.

Finished bodywork and gave all the panels where I need to blend a scuff up to 1000 grit.

Quick mask and then primed the sections that got body work.

And then blocked and feathered the primer and gave everything a final scuff up to 1000 grit for good measure. Should be ready for masking and paint on my next day off.

literally saw 3 BMWs (I3, X3, and 3 series) and a Porsche Cayenne driving like cockheads, changing lanes and cutting people off without signalling over and over and over again, all in a space of 2 minutes

Thank you!
I've been thinking about documenting more as I do. I really LOVE to really experiment with various new things, brake/suspension wise or anything for that matter. But I don't think what I do would be interesting enough to video. Then there's the fact that I've done some pretty high tech stuff to the car I'd rather not give out. You know all that crazy engineering you say in F1 in the 1970's-1980? Well all of that is banned in modern racing. But not in my class, sure I'm up against much more expensive cars but I can use all the dirty technical tricks I want. It's just awesome to have this incredible freedom to make the most dumb awesome shit. I get sidetracked in little projects so easily, for example I'm currently drawing up supports for an active wing to use as air brake during heavy braking or high G corners.
I mean sure it would be pretty cool to records videos of what I do, if people wanted to watch that kinda stuff. But I'm no expert in cameras or editing. Not to mention I'm an amateur, everything I do I most likely do for the first time, so it's bound to look clumsy lol.
Changed windshield on a BMW 5-series G30 that was pretty much new and it took all fucking day The trim around the rear view mirror and cameras were absolute hell and camera calibration took over an hour and a half.
Welp. Y'all wouldn't fucking believe this.
Needed an M5R2 in 2wd for my truck. Manual F150's are rare, and 2wd was a special order option, so what i need is fucking unobtainium.
Called all over, found a unit in a towing company's wrecking yard down the road, hell yes. I set up with both my jobs and the guy himself to pull it on wensday, but everything fucking blew up that day so i couldn't make it.
Called him this morning, said "fuck man i'm sorry, could i come pull it today", and he said "i've just decided to stop being a wrecker, too many phone calls and not worth my time. It's a flat no on ever getting your trans"
That was the one unit in the entire lower mainland, and it's sitting in a truck ready to go. And that lazy ninny decided that business are hard and therefore he can't be bothered to open a gate for me and let me shovel 200 bucks at him.

Holy fuck it's the right unit.
Miracles have happened. Recently rebuilt with new slave cylinder miracles.
Not really sure where to ask, and I hope I don't sound like a fool asking.
Last year I bought my first REAL vehicle by myself (mostly), a 2010 Pontiac G6, and I really really like it. It was the first car I sat in at the dealership I went too and it immediately felt "right" to me. After checking out a few cars, I came back to that one and did all the paperwork for it yadda yadda etc etc...
Anyway, since this is my first car that I've bought and paying off by myself, I wanted to "personalize" it. Not saying I want to go as far as "Pimp My Ride", but it'd be nice to have something that stands out a little more. Except I don't really know how to do that without it looking really gaudy or coming off as a "poser."
Does anyone have any experience they can pass along to me about personalizing cars as far as looks go?
other than basic stuff like tint and paint, wheels and ride height are the only things you should really mess with as far as cosmetic stuff goes. body kits and the like invariably end up looking gaudy.
is yours a coupe or a sedan?
A sedan. I definitely want to get better seat covers that actually fit my seats. The ones I have now are cheap-o walmart stuff. I also really like black/red rims. I want to take care of this car more since I'm probably going to be driving it for a long time, unlike my last car which was a piece of junk.
Would a skirt be too much to add?
Side skirts will look out of place without front/rear addons. There are some pretty cool bodykits for the G6 but that kind of thing can get to be a lot of work.
I've also heard some pretty neat sounding G6s. Look into custom exhaust systems. Just don't get one that sounds like a long wet fart.
Okay, which one of you guys did the alignment on my "stupid fucking electric bag of shit" ()?

The clicking noise you hear throughout most of the video is him trying to figure out how to get it in neutral.
Heh, I've had moments like that with BMWs at work. They love to automatically shift into park when you stop the engine
I don't think the Leaf does that. What seems to catch people out is that you have to push the brake pedal down to change gears, including for putting it in neutral.
I've only driven a new Leaf once when I brought it in to fix a stone chip in the windshield so not much experience with them at all really.
This is an official Nissan dealership so a bit funny they don't know how to put it in neutral. But I guess they don't usually need to for the service which is just changing the pollen filter and brake fluid.
Did some restoration on my headlights and trim:

(That's not a MAGA hat. It's a local charity that also has red hats)
Used Sylvania headlight restoration kit on the headlights and Wipe New on the plastic trim pieces.
We'll see in about 6 months whether I'd recommend them. So far so good.
wtf a cateye that isnt broken or a brodozer? where can I get one
It's an 07 Classic with 84k miles on it.

(pics are backwards and can't rearrange, but peep that slick thumbnail feature)
Finally fixed the oil leak on my car, the oil cooler return line was seeping where the rubber is crimped into the hard lines, so I got a new OEM hose.
What should have been a 2 hour job turned into probably 8 over 2 days, partially because of me and my dad's tools and also probably because we're retarded.
The 10mm that holds the send and return lines to the block is a piece of shit. It's basically impossible to reach without dropping the subframe, unless you use an unholy combination of extensions, u-joints and a step-down to 1/4" drive at the end because 3/8" sockets foul on the A/C compressor. It's twice as hard to get it back in and threaded as it is to get out.
You can't see it so you have to feel it out, and there's all manners of shit blocking any convenient way to get your hand on it.
The end that's pictured basically has to be pressure-fit into that secondary lip at the oil thermostat, doing that without destroying the part is a pain, and we didn't have a T30 socket or L-wrench that could fit so we were using a 1/4" T30 bit and turning it with a 1/4" wrench.
Finally we fucked up the routing of the line back to the cooler twice, but once we got it right the other end of the hose is ezpz and plugs right in with a satisfying click. No leaks!
Now I can found out how much oil I'm really consuming rather than losing on the pavement.
