Yes, sold brand new by a GM dealer here, this one has run just over 50000 miles (80000km).
I keep my interior clean because I barely bring shit into my car. But my exterior is dirty has fuck because of the monsoons and shit. I'd go clean it but it barely gets below 90 even at night here and fuck that.
it's like a terrible grandma couch was turned into a car
Now now..
holy fuck if that was in new zealand that fucker would be illegal. I wouldn't feel safe driving something with that much rust jesus christ. i know it'd probably be fine what with having a chassis but i can't imagine that is looking so hot if the body is like that...
i'd say see if you can enable secureidle but a. i don't know if you got a push to start model, b. i don't know if the mustang ECU has secure idle hiding in it i know the f-150 and explorer do because the PIU has it, and the f-150 shares with the explorer, but the mustang is an entirely different beast
Good thing im not driving it and i've already got every body panel needed to repair all the rust
rust belt does that kind of shit
Ayy, but rust belt also leave frame alone (somehow)
So my dad's out working in alberta, and visiting family while he's there. He mentioned my project cars to them, and supposedly someone up there who's rather getting on in life has a '57 ford in the family who want it to go to a good home, and offered to just give it to me. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/225402679373856768/473298679856365568/unknown.png Send help
More good news. Had a salty old hot rodder, ex BCIT instructor and ex white glove teir restoration friend look at my basket case transmissoin. He said the rust was so light it shouldn't have eaten through the case hardening, so he'd put money on it being as easy as wire brushing the problem areas, running solevent through it and slapping that shit into my truck no problem. So fuck it, why not. If it blows up i'll only be where i thought i was beforehand. Life comes in tides, doesn't it. All good or all bad all at once.
Bought a diesel '86 W124 for $1,200 God DAMN this thing is fucking nice, just need to get the A/C and the driver window regulator sorted out. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/774/b5b50665-fbb7-4223-bc56-0ad747a1d71d/IMG_20180730_131751.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/774/e9818aac-1244-4837-8a0f-d1705ecfb3ce/IMG_20180730_131951.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/774/e4ebb50a-f80b-440e-985b-0f43b80a39d2/IMG_20180730_131615.jpg
So, is there something I'm missing about this car, other than it being 20 years old? I mean, maybe it hasn't ran in a while and needs work underneath done, but... Damn, that's only $700 more for an '03 I was looking at with double miles.
it's got big tupperware skirts. check for rust check for rust check for rust check for rust check for rust check for rust check for rust check for rust check for rust check for rust speaking of which, i just sold my tupperware miata
My local mechanic couldn't figure out the source of my misfire and he referred me to a bigger shop. Unfortunately their closest appointment is 2 weeks away. I'm lucky I have some other cars to use otherwise I would make things worse with my car.
Hmm, what car do you have? What have they checked so far?
1996 Volvo 960. OBD2 said it was a cyl 5 misfire (and I can definitely feel it). According to my bluedriver reader they common fixes are either bad coil, bad wire, or bad spark plug, but I replaced all my spark plugs less than 2 years ago. Anyway he said they don't have the software to figure out the actual problem. Also possibly related that a mouse used to live near the intake and possibly chewed stuff. Though if that was actually related it must have been hanging on by a thread for 2 years because I've had this car for 2 years and have had zero problems.
My money's on a wire or coil pack. If you swap cyl5's coil with another cylinder and the misfire moves you'll know for sure. Also it's possible (for a number of reasons) that cyl5's plug is fouled or something.
volvo coil packs are notoriously shitty 404 is right, move cyl 5's coil pack to cyl 3 and see if the code/misfire moves to that cylinder
I actually talked to a guy at work who is fairly knowledgeable about cars and he agrees. I think this weekend I will try that. I don't know why my mechanic didn't try at all, but if it does move I could probably easily replace it. Especially since this inline 6 it's super easy to get to the ignition coils.
I was surprised to find the 960 6cyls had coil on plug in but the 850 and 70 series were on distributors til 99. Don't forget to inspect the plug while you're in there
Do you think they need to be checked If I just replaced them? According to the photos I took it was november 26 2016. Plus I do not drive a lot, I probably only put less than 10,000 miles on them, probably less than 7,000.
Mileage doesn't really matter, if you have excessive oil blowby in that cylinder it could dick up a spark plug, for example. Worth a look
Hopefully, this Sunday I'll have a Volvo. It's a 1990 740 Turbo. Comes with a torn down turbo redblock as well.
welcome to the master race the 700 series volvos are great
Lord knows I've been there, gone through a few spark plug sets since I started driving my Corolla. My advice? Spark plugs are pretty cheap, and you might as well replace the plugs while you have the coils out.
I found velcro strips glued/attached (pretty solid) inside of my BMW E90 grill. Any idea why they would be there?
PO might've had lights in the grille like this guy http://www.ijdmtoy.com/BLOG/Showcase/Car-LED-Blog/galleries/2011-10-17/led-knight-rider-light-1.jpg
What's a "PO"?
PO = previous owner. Guy probably just put lights in it for aesthetic like I showed and used velcro to hold them in.
