If someone offered me a free BMW or a free Audi, I'd take the Audi every time.
I didn't buy the 740 wagon. I bought a 940 Sedan. Also Turbo. It shifts pretty rough though, so should I just drain and change the atf and filter, or should I run seafoam through it first then do that?
I think I know whos car you bought haha, it makes pretty sweet turbo sounds eh I don't know the shape of the trans on that car, new fluid could do it but the car is old and it could need new(er) parts. Seafoam makes a product specifically for transmissions and other hydraulics. Never used it and dunno if it will help you.
I guess I'll just give it a go, can't see the harm.
I'm guessing here, like REALLY guessing. Something like this perhaps? Apply some serious heat to, very briefly, it and see what happens? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qio3_tUROBs
Urgent Volvo help required. What do the gaskets for the turbo look like? I can for tjlhe life of me find them.
The only thing that made Audi near was quattro, but everyone has decent awd systems now so you can get it on something that has the large benefit of being literally anything besides a VAG vehicle
Wow, no manifold to turbo gasket, Volvo you think of everything. Well, expect for CUP HOLDERS.
I like the way Audi's look. Not a huge fan of the way BMWs look.
depends on how you look at it, audi has nice stuff in the range of limousines, i'd almost have gotten an RS3 Sportback but i wanted a Coupé, sadly audi doesnt have much in the way of newer Coupés that arent too expensive, and im not a fan of the TT, and an R8 is out of my range so i went with the BMW
I think the Audi sportback sedans are sexy. Though if I had the money for one I'd probably get a Model S, or Model 3(opposed to cheaper sedans). I'm not into coupes unless it's a sports car and in that case I'd get a F-Type Jag.
considering buying a cheap as chips Mazda 323, Golf Mk3 2.0l or some other small light little turd and getting into autocross (most autocross in my area is on unsealed roads) how much of a terrible idea is this?
Absolutely terrible because we all know that the AU is the best track day car
yes good idea https://i.imgur.com/D0faaKf.jpg goes well
but only the F-Type SVR imo
So the 940's engine ticks on acceleration, however, I just reved it in park, no boost, and no tick. Exhaust leak? It's worth noting it's also only pushing about 4lbs of boost.
I would usually think CVs but it's RWD so maybe your driveshaft joints? or wheel bearing(s), something that spins while moving As far as your boost issues could be TCV, vac leak, boost leak, sticky wastegate, cracked manifold etc. I'm pretty new to turbos and mine works great so I'm not sure what's behind your issue
Replacing a lot of the turbo stuff this weekend, and bought some muffler sealant. So I'm going to go over all that. As for it being running gear, it's definitely coming from the front, and only gets worse on acceleration, and is nearly silent on deccel and cruising.
is the frequency speed dependent or rpm dependent? it's likely something that's on its way to wearing out and only makes noise under load
RPM, but as I mention only when moving, and/or under boost.
I'm going to be in Texas in a couple weeks for a business trip, and I'll have a rental car. I live in the UK, and I've never driven in the states before (although I've driven in Hungary a fair bit, so I'm used to right-hand drive). Any tips for first-time UK drivers in the US? Ideally I would like to avoid dying in a fireball, and secondarily, getting pulled over by the cops. I've done some googling and here are the differences that have stuck out to me so far: Turn right on red light, without an explicit filter light Stop signs rather than give way signs, and you actually have to stop People can overtake on slow lane on an interstate Pedestrians and cars may both have green light at the same time at junctions (is this one true??) Centre lane for making left turns, but may be used by cars going in both directions Open container laws I saw this on another website, and it didn't make sense to me, hopefully one of you guys could explain it Finally, when turning onto an interstate you are at risk of letting your UK driving intincts take over and turning onto an 'off ramp (slip road). These are very well marked and invariably have a do not enter sign posted as in this picture. They are further supplemented by another sign further up the slip road saying 'Wrong Way'. Watch for these two signs and take heed.  Also, anything interesting/weird/annoying about driving in the states
If you're going to be driving in Texas my suggestion is: don't Texans are the nicest fucking people until you put them in an automobile at which point they're hellbent on killing you for no reason
Right on red is cool, just be sure to keep an eye out for signs being posted about no right-on-red. Stop at all stop signs, completely. There isn't going to be a cop at every sign, but you pretend there are. I think technically you're not supposed to pass on the left, but I and almost everyone else does it as needed. I've never heard of anywhere that has pedestrians walking across a green-light. I guess be on the eye out for it. I don't know what the law is in Texas, but where I'm at driving around with any alcohol open in the car is very illegal. What is the picture for the last bit? I have no idea what they're talking about.
It's saying you might accidentally turn left onto highway offramp and have a very bad time. Excuse my bad drawing: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1861/13acd5bf-aaac-40c7-bd7f-8d537bf8167e/ramp.png I don't know how Brit ramps work but I'm guessing that's what it means. It's basically saying don't accidentally get on the wrong side of the interstate. In most cases the traffic flow going on and off the interstate will make this obvious.
I don't even get how that could happen, at least with the way roads in VA are set up. I don't think there are any on ramps that dump off like that here.
Also in Texas the speed limit is a guideline and people expect you to drive at least 5-10 mph over it.
buy a cowboy hat
It would be pretty hard to since most interestate highways have feeder roads anyway which in Texas are one way. So you'll already be traveling in the same direction as interstate traffic, then you just gotta slip on in. Though sometimes there are over/under ramps that have the on/off ramps feeding into a 4 way stop and that may be confusing to brits i guess?
Maybe. I can't think of any example around here where an offramp would be easy to mistake for an on ramp, which is what I think the warning is, basically. Unless there's a similar looking type of road in the UK, it seems laughably unlikely that someone would do it.
uh, what? the uk doesnt have stop signs?
