If youre in a place with only one or two tires shops sometimes work adds up quick and you end up at the back of a list of cars that takes days to work through, especially if its a shop known to be good that a lot of folks in the community trust and want to go to. My uncle has a completely seperate shop just to run tire jobs thru out in the sticks and his book is filled for days at a time. Not too uncommon once you get out of urban areas, really.
GM didnt make the limos, it was a coachbuilder that did them
Yeah thankfully the GM h2s look much less tacky!!!

So while getting the crossmember out on the donor truck, i had to do the wrench/impact wrench thing to get 5/6 bolts out. And the top ones had zero clearance for a wrench. I crammed it in there, and when the bolt came loose the wrench went flying, and somehow stayed on top of the frame, right above my head. I barely touched it and it fell down, meaning it was precarious as fuck there. Thanks RNJesus.
Having a snack and that motor's coming out.
Should I get this over the '02 Escalade? 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe LS for $3,800. Has 240k on the clock.
I'll take it for a spin tommorrow along with the aforementioned Escalade.

Events have transpired.
Mr. Regular has the 302 Redeemer in the Vagabond Falcon. I'm thinking this thing needs a name of it's own too
doesn't help that GM made those gaudy looking shits in the first place
In other news, I saw an HSV Astra today.
2.0L Turbo with 237hp
looked like this, same colour

Good news. Motor's now carbed, new plugs, new oil filter, new water pump, all the EFI bullshit is gone, Air pump, AC pump, power steering pump and other such nonsense is deleted. Lifter valley is super clean, despite appearances this motor was well taken care of, which is a good sign. First time working on a motor this deeply, and i'm satisfied.
And now the bad news.

Fucking kill me.
only 237hp? commies make that with the 3.8l buick since like the vt, and no doubt more torque. yawn.
That’s not bad for a 2.0L. You really don’t want any more than that in a front-wheel drive car, and of course no one even needs that much power to begin with.
commies are also twice the size, are RWD, and weigh like 200-300kg more
"No one needs that much power"
What life experiences led you to live such a miserable existence
Well, I got around to doing a basic cleaning on the vic yesterday. Although to save on time and to be lazy I rolled it through the car wash. There's still some tar or oily shit thats kinda up on the rear and underneath which I gotta go in the garage and find a remover for. Also the wheels and rear seats cleaned up almost perfect and I got the front seat done as best as I can. I think I will ask my friends at work if they know anyone who can help me. Some real gray areas on there and IDK how to get that out.

Unfortunately when I went to get gas last night I realized the antenna went boom. DAMMIT CAR WASH.

Hmm... that's probably why it fell off..... SUPER GLUE STRIKES AGAIN. MOTHER FUCK.

Next things I gotta do for sure are tires on my next check and I'm gunna maybe just do the tie rod ends/control arms or bushings whatever the fucks, since the alignment is gunna have to be done anyway. Some looked pretty shot from time and IE heat. I think no major work has ever been done to it. And depending on how many miles I rack up I will do the plugs/coils/better intake/LOUD AF exhaust, whatever else, maybe shocks since they are og. I'll have my friend hook me up with genuine parts if they are available. I might change the oil too, I'm just paranoid since it hasn't been done since last september (although it looks clean, just no miles put on it until me who's already put 500 on the ol' beast.)
In other news, the shitra is covered in literal shit. It's horrid looking since I've been lazy. I think the band tailed pigeons that we get sharted all over it. They keep eating all the bean pods and staring at us from the orchid tree out front and they are super cute! Haha.

Also time to think about sanding the black paint off too.
You can buy the proper plug for that NMO hole that's actually meant for sealing it for like, $5.
Actually you can get five for $9
Well no one needs that much power in a road car. Some new cars are just so unnecessarily powerful. And you certainly don’t need that much power to have fun in a road car. The most fun that I’ve ever had driving a car was when I borrowed my brother’s standard Peugeot 205, which didn’t have working power steering and could only put out up to 60kW when new I think. But it’s not about stats; it’s not about raw power, nor power/weight, nor 0-60 times, nor 1/4 mile times, nor how fast it can lap the Burgerkingring, it’s about how it makes you feel when you drive it.
Before I got my Ford Falcon I was on the verge of buying an 07 Ford Fiesta XR4 which can only put out up to 110kW, but like the 205, it was a proper blast to drive too. The main reasons why I didn’t get the Fiesta was that it didn’t have cruise control and yet I do 1.5 hours of motorway driving every single day, and all Fiesta XR4s have been flogged to hell and back.
It’s more enjoyable to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

She also drives drag and shit, I haven't ever talked to her but on youtube you can find that they have at least 4 different corvettes, c3, c4, c5, c7. Also my boss drives a new Dodge Challenger. Seeing USDM cars is pretty rare over here.
They’ve always exported Jeeps here but the other American marques have recently become more common. Chrysler 300s can be seen every day, as can Dodge Nitros. The current gen Ford Mustang (but not the GT350) is also being officially sold, for the first time since the 60’s I believe. Aftermarket RHD conversions of newer models can also be seen. I’ve personally seen a Chevrolet Camaro, a few Chevrolet Corvette C6s (although C3s are much more common) and a Dodge Challenger.
American trucks are also being imported over here, but they are just so ridiculous. They barely even fit on the road. And I’m pretty sure none of them have Diesel engines, so I have no idea why anyone buys them.
You are exactly correct. The most fun cars I've ever driven are my MR2s and they have what, 110hp stock? Which also makes me fear how scary my SRT4 swapped one will be.
I'm not so sure. I've never bought into the slow car fast thing. Maybe most of the people saying it have never actually driven fast cars.
Fastest thing I've driven was my uncles SRT8 Challenger which was shipped with 485HP, his was lightly modded so it may have been a little more than that, I dunno. Ripping around their windy rural town and the surrounding area while I was borrowing it to run some errands for his shop was fun as fuck, and honestly probably some of the most fun I've had on a public road. I can't imagine that would have been fun with a low power, wrong wheel drive vehicle like an ST or Si or something similar. Maybe I'm just spoiled because high horsepower, RWD sporty cars are available to the masses here, I dunno.
I literally need that much power. My car nominally has 220hp (probably less now) and it's dangerously slow to get on the highway sometimes.
Also the slow car fast thing just seems like someone who hasn't experienced fast car fast. Stock Mustang GT (425hp or something idk) on twisty roads is much more fun than moderately modified PT Cruiser (235hp, lowered, fancy springs and fat tires all around). Then you have slow slow car fast (Nissan something coupe 198x), absolute garbage.
I've driven all these cars around Angeles Crest Highway and fast car fast is by far more fun than slow car fast.
US is weird.
165kw (220hp) is a pretty powerful car over here. My car has 80kw, most of my friends have around that mark, some have up to125kw. Other cars in our family - Citroen Jumper - 80kw. Kia Sorento - 125kw, Kia Carnival - 136kw. We sometimes have Peugeot Partners, usually 55kw. Our Mazda 6 with 103kw was more than plenty.
The high fuel prices and shorter commutes may also play a huge role over here. I live in a city of 20k people and during school in a city of ~100k people. The distance is around 85km, less than an hour of driving. Having a mad powerful car is more dickwaving than anything, as you don't really have many roads where you can really take it out. Also, sports cars in my hometown is a horrible idea due to all the potholes.
Yea, we're mostly graced with decentish, big roads and affordable fuel here. Makes the powerful vehicles more fun/usable I reckon.
I remember being in a small town in northern Italy, turning the corner, and seeing a massive neon blue ram 1500 with a giant lift and blacked out everything. Could've sworn I was back in Indiana except it took up two parking spots and barely fit on the damn road. Was really bizarre.
Makes me wish I still had the photos from that trip.

going to keep the lolvo. i cant imagine actually parting with it just yet
Everyone's talking about their 300 HP and I'm tooling around town in my ~120 HP Corolla.
It doesn't even have a decent transmission. Three-speed automatic + no overdrive = a terrifying drive on the interstate.
Been a while my dudes. Been busy lately.
