Only thing changed on this one is obviously the bed cover, but also orange indicators in the rear bumper, exhaust tip straight back instead of to the right and parking lights drilled into the lowbeams, everything but the bed cover is needed to fill the road laws here in Sweden.

Today i learned that cork gaskets make exellent flowerbeds. And that moss enjoys eating turn signal shrouds

I can get a brand new one for 300. What the fuck man.
He probably paid that much for it but won't suck it up and cut the losses. I KNOW WHAT I GOT NO LOWBALLERS
it says on it "$750" in one of the photos. I'd put money on that guy going to the states for a swap meet, getting suckred by some guy going "NEW OLD STOCK, PEOPLE WILL PAY BIG MONEY FOR THIS", him paying 750 american for it, bringing it back and now is trying to flip it to someone even dumber than he is.
Also, glory of glories, my brakes finally came, and fedex didn't run it over with a cement truck this time. And my 15" wheels fit them.

It begins.
Fucking cotter pins. one's stuck up with the loop inside the nut and i can't get it out.
Leaf on the track:

Keep in mind it was my first time ever driving on a track, and it's a LEAF with a hot battery so power was reduced already. I let pretty much any other car pass on the straights overtaking was allowed on.
Cool progess, Stev. It's so much work to go through that stuff part by part.. but so cool when it comes together.
I'm on vacation this week from work and made the mistake of going on craigslist. I've been good all summer because I'm tied up building the garage.. but this thing.. hmm

"needs to be rewired" is right up my alley.. A friend's mom has one of these I recently looked at and she wants it to be running again. I think I'm gonna hit this dude up tomorrow and try to scoop it if an inspection doesn't turn up any major issues. It'd be a cool project to enjoy, or flip, or use for parts for my friend's MG.. who knows. For that price it looks like a decent deal in the condition it's in. But you never know until you see the thing in person.
I finally got that 2013 Camaro out of my life, too. Thank goodness.

Time for celebration!
2004 Subaru Impreza 2.5i
any good of a car?
2.5 Subarus are notorious for head gasket problems. If it's had the gaskets replaced once it should be good to go. The gaskets they get replaced with here at least are reinforced.
The head gaskets were replaced according to the guy.
im just worried, it’s got 170k miles and he’s selling for just short of 3000 USD. When I started the car, it sorta took a little to start. Not sure if this was from sitting or a bad starter or something. It didn’t take multiple turnovers but it didn’t sound like your average peppy startup. (If that makes sense)
Don't forget to use the OEM headgasket stop leak with every antifreeze change or the headgasket may fail externally and leak coolant from the bottom of the block! With a brand new Subaru you void the warranty on it if you don't add headgasket stop leak into it!!!

Visit your Subaru dealer today to pick up your Subaru branded headgasket stop leak for the low price of $3!!!!!!!!
Really though, this is actually a thing. I have to say it's not that bad of a product since it coats the entire inside of the cooling system properly sorta like copper spray on a headgasket. If you buy one, change the coolant and dump a couple of these in it for good measure. Two bottles fixed up my ex's pile of shit Forester after the headgakset started dripping coolant pretty good.
When it wasn't having a trash manual transmission with a bad pilot bearing, locking up the window regulators because the plastic gears exploded or snapping lug studs every single time you tighten down wheels like all Subarus. The 2.5 boxer engine isn't particularly efficient and the AWD really kills fuel economy even more while making the car slower than my 92hp 1.5 1990 Civic when it had the stock engine and DPFI. I'm not a huge fan of Subaru but if you need or want the AWD and enjoy the car, they're not that bad. The late 90's to mid 2000's was when they were making their best cars. I wouldn't buy one from 2010 or so and their build quality now is even worse.
I keep thinking to myself while wrestling with a rusted on nut or something "all this for a shitty old truck?", but i keep answering myself with "Yeah but it's going to be my shitty old truck goddamn it"
Also i wouldn't get a midget. If you want an MG, B's are the way to go because anyone over 5' 8" can actually fit in it with the roof on
this image is the first thing that springs to mind when i read Impreza and 2.5 in one sentence
http://m.memegen.com/wbkn83.jpg
yeah, i went to go see it and it was a fucking mess lol. spare tire in the trunk had a mouse nest, one of the tires was flat and the underbody had lots of poor weld jobs. he had tons of subarus in his yard, he probably buys them cheap, swaps a few parts then sells them 10x price
Tbh I need to convince mom to get rid of this underpowered piece of garbage (peugeot 206 sedan, but with a 1.4l engine resulting in suck) and buy something better, we don't need a car that big anyway. I was thinking maybe an Alfa 147 or a bimmer series 1

Day 1 of babby's first frame restoration. Hit a dead end since i got all i could without a horozontal wire wheel, but not bad for 3 hours. Not polishing it to a mirror shine because i need a rough surface to prime on. And i'm using rust paint which should neutralize the rust to iron phosphate, so any little bits left in the deep pitting should be fine.
Sandblasters are for casuals. And i am a filthy casual. Holy fuck would a sandblaster be easy mode compared to this.
No worries on the MG Midget. I went to look at it and it had a decent amount of bubbling on the paint, and a window that wouldn't roll all the way up, and crummy condition spoke wheels, and a piece of metal screwed in for a floor board. It wasn't horrible.. but I didn't want a body project. The story he said was one day it just wouldn't start and his mechanic never could figure it out and said 'must be wiring, like a mouse chewed a wire or something'. And here it sits.
I'd love to get it running, but don't wanna tie money up in something like that, so I managed to talk myself out of it.
I had been messing with the carb on the Ceilca and that stupid POS didn't want to start in his driveway, then. Starts amazing when it's cold.. fires right up. But when it's hot it's a finicky POS. I thought I flooded it, but it eventually fired up when I held it to the board for a few cranks. Ugh.
That frame progress hurts my hands just looking at it. You stripped it down really really well. Like you said, a sand blaster would be awesome but the going is just as slow and my god is it messy and it goes through a ton of media. My stupid Harbor Freight one does, anyways. A good one would probably be better. Keep it up!
The more I look at them, the more I really, really want an early 70's celica. My mom had one in the early 80's and she said it was an awesome car but she eventually sold it because the engine blew or something. Plus the pix I've seen on here of your (I think it was yours) celica restoration only made me want one more.
But damn are they hard to find for reasonable amounts of money.
I don't mind the labor, but a sandblaster would also be able to get in places like the crooks and crannies of the trans crosmember and the shackle castings. Whereas here i'm going to grind down as best as i can and then plug my ears and pretend it's fine once i paint.

Also i'm making a few discoveries like this.
Certainly needs new kingpins, which can happen after the truck's on the road. But those shackles are not ok, the tie rod is shaped roughly like a silly straw and for some reason someone took a blowtorch to the radiator crosmember like they just wanted to see what'd happen. Not near anything important, so it's not like i have to pull it but oh well, good thing it's not called Immaculate Bob.

If you can get over the usage of K instead of C its some great shit
Man I won't even fuck with oil-finish guitars let alone a car, so much work
fucken hell why does 90s mazda paint have to suck such horrific ass.
I'm trying to get either one of these
http://www.prehlad-automobilov.sk/files/automobily/st1/7727/800x600_sk_SK/1326524411-mazda-323f-bg-16i-8v.jpg

with the BP DOHC 1.8L engine in manual for rally purposes (and I know paint doesn't really matter with that but still, better to find one that looks good) and they ALL have fucken serious paint fading issues.
The only ones that don't have paint fade either have 1.6L, 1.8L SOHC (gutless) or 2.0 V6 (gutless and shitty), or are auto.
sorry but 323F is the most trashiest car on the market, they're way too cheap and abused
Can't find any images of that stuff working. Would you happen to have any? clearcoating this thing is going to be a one shot deal, can't fuck it up and try again without grinding everything down.

https://emeraldcoatings.com/product/por-15-matte-clear-coat/
Did find this though, which appears to be what i want. Paint's an entirely foreign thing to me though.
I like them
I've have one and a half year left of Uni and I've started to plan a project of my own once I get set up.
The model of car is still up to debate since it's so long until then but for now I thought I might start habging around here to gather info.
Todays curiosity; If I plan on going for a rat look, is there clear coats that do not shine? I prefer the matte look since it can get dirtier before it is noticeable.

The only one i could find of it, i completely forgot about POR-15 though, i've used their undercoating in the past and its held up very well
I forgot to update you guys, though I doubt most of you care at all. A few weeks ago I was talking about how my 96 volvo 960 was misfiring. Someone suggested it could be the ignition coils or spark plugs. I didn't think it was the spark plugs because they were less than 2 years old.
Anyway I finally got it in to the shop and they told me that the spark plugs I used malfunctioned or were just bad quality (autolite, I got them because of a good rebate) that made the ignition coil work harder until it broke. So they replaced the sparkplugs and the coil and now it seems to work fine. The only difference I've noticed is that it keeps revs up longer than before, it used to just drop down to ~1k if I let go of the gas, now it just hovers and falls down slowly.
So I'm going to be going to university this September, 600km from home and without my car for cost cutting purposes (insurance/registration, gas and the usual fixes add up). Are racing games going to be my only way to fill the car shaped hole in my heart? And if so, are there any good ones for the PS4?
spark plugs can be the cause of a lot of shit
my dad had a 1958 Jag in his workshop and they fucked around with almost everything until they decided 'fuck it lets just try to change the sparkplugs' and it worked immediately after
