Spider update: she realized a motorcycle was not a good place to have her web and she moved to the garden. Didn't have to bother her. she cleaned up her own web and everything. so considerate.
Further tales from the tent: So i was going to install the starter again, and while the bottom bolt threaded no problem, the top was having none of it. So i looked in and there was some rust and crud in there. Unusual for an aluminium casting but ok whatever. Cleaned it out with a pipe cleaner and shone a light in it. Fucker was stripped bare. On a hunch i went to my scrap bolt pile, and found a semi stripped bolt. I tried it in the hole and it tried to grab, meaning that was the very same bolt that came out. Upon closer inspection it was sliiiiiiiiiiightly larger than the bolts that threaded just fine. Meaning someone tried to shove a metric hole in an imperial hole or vice versa, and just went ham with an airgun, and enough thread survived to hold the starter in until now. I think i gotta put an undersized bolt through with a nut on the other side and hope the it doesn't rock and smack into the bolt hole when i start it. Somehow the donor truck for the tranny is even sketchier than sketchy bob.
There's an NB Miata for sale with slight rear end damage (looks like the left quarter panel is slightly deformed and the rear light is also broken + paint damage) Damn I want it!
So the 15G is finally all apart after finally giving up, caving, and buying 16 inch snap ring pliers because FUCK. Anywho, not that I'm here, what's the best way to get everything nice and clean, without hurting anything. Seen a bit on just dumping it all in malt vinegar, but I don't know the science and don't want to fuck anything up.

Did a tree do that?
I It came with the car, I haven't got a clue. I'm just cleaning her up.
sell the car, you aint getting that shit out unless you cut it and put new metal in.
Just Crush It (tm)
You fucking Volvo owners, and your "Just Crush it"s and "Used Orange"s.
That dent is in a terrible spot
ideally you should cut the metal out and replace with fresh steel, but that'd be costly especially with having to remove the window. honestly I personally would probably just bog the fuck out of it but the shallower you can make that dent beforehand and the less bog you use the better. honestly with the position of it I doubt anyone ever again would ever know that it was bogged unless you fucked up the prepwork or they bare-metal resprayed it.
Truck Parts and Truck Accessories See part 10 and 11 there? https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Y3X4aY1A1s0/maxresdefault.jpg For some reason Sketchy is missing those. I need them. Nobody but LMC carries them, and since i have the longbed i need four. And LMC jacks up the price for everything they carry by about 30-50% because fuck you that's why. All in i'd be paying about 350 bucks canuck fun bucks plus shipping for four metal sticks. Fucking kill me.
That looks pretty deep. If you take the pillar covers off from the inside, maybe you can use some tool to kick it out again? At least you get slightly less dent to fix.
Will most likely not get to it from the inside since there are always multiple layers of steel in the pillars. Might be lucky though idk
Could you not fab those pretty easily? You could even just cut down some box tubing from the looks of the part.
that's what i thought too but they have little offset tabs that the bed bolts go through, meaning it's not as simple as drilling out box tube. It needs welding, and i don't have a power supply near the truck. http://tenwheel.com/imgs/a/b/p/z/r/1948___1951_ford_f___2_bed_7_lgw.jpg Although i could just do this and drill new holes, but new holes in the flange of the frame is playing with fire.
OH, NOW THE VOLVO DOESN'T EVEN TURN OVER. [CONFUSED SCREAMING]
Can you not just weld the parts inside? Or do you mean welding to the truck frame? Know anyone with a generator?
I mean i don't have a 220 anywhere near the truck. Or a 30 amp 120 i don't think. Also discovered that the motor mounts self centered and now the motor is about 5/8ths off to the drivers side from the 3/4" offset i'd intentded to clear the oil filter. It wasn't welded in yet, just sitting on the bolts, but need the hoist back to correct it. I can get a lot done before it's really a huge problem but blegh. Stupid shit is stupid.
It's ok neither does mine. But that's because I let the battery die in the AZ heat. Yours is a P2, right?
So i had a stupid come to jesus moment today. The reason my bed struts are missing and nobody carries them? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/228931/84eed549-8e94-46d2-b915-3a90296b7013/image.png They're fucking made of wood. Durr. Boxtube it is.
92' 940. Pretty sure it's one of the two(??????) fuel pumps. Going to swap it to a single, in tank unit.
Can a big enough exhaust leak (really far forward, headers or, turbo, most likely) cause a car to not start? Because the Volvo just turned over without much issue today, several times. It chugges a little, but otherwise is fine.
Bad battery or bad contacts for the starter? Bad key cylinder? Sounds more like an electrical issue.
