i would hope a 6.2l ls would make 400hp, since you can make that with a 383 carbied sbc. surely a ls1 could make 400 being a modern fuel injected engine?
a stock ls1 can handle 800 without issue. closer to 1200 if you change the head bolts
1 month now that I've been waiting for the mechanic to get to fixing my Z28's transmission. I'm going in on monday to talk about it with him. How do I go about getting him to actually work on it? The past 3 weeks he's said he'll try to get to it that week, but he hasn't.I've seen countless cars come and go from his lot but yet mine still sits. Like, I need that car to be done. My MR2 is on its last leg and I'm not sure how much longer it will run without a rebuild.
After this long I'd tell straight that I would want wrenches turning that day, or he needs to have it sent somewhere else so they can get it done since you need the car.
Threaten to fire him and take it somewhere else.
Hah, I'm on my 46th day of waiting for my car to be done
Why are these clowns holding your car for this long?
Well, the company I bought it from sent it to Mercedes to get it fixed, but they have had soooo much to do so they've only had time to work on my car on overtime. They have changed the whole rear axle, and they've changed the valve control unit in the gearbox with no results. After that they sent the car back to the company I bought it from and now they're changing the whole gearbox. While they got the old gearbox out they called me and said they've found something wrong on the flywheel so they're gonna change that too. They just kinda ran out of time on friday, so when monday comes it might be finished, and might be fixed
If this doesn't solve the problem, I'll just get my money back and get another car...
Also Rævskjegg means "ass beard" in Norwegian, and I've been wanting to get rid of the weeb name from 2008 for a while now anyway
"Sorry there's a month waiting period, we have too many other broken cars to deal with"
That wouldn't exactly inspire confidence
Do you at least have a loaner?
how is this pronounced please
just like its spelled
I do have a loaner which is why I'm willing to put up with this.
Also æ is pronounced like a in bad or rad. Skj is pronounced kinda like ch as in chill. The rest is pretty much straight forward
I've been reading about the amateur car build stuff we have here in Norway and now i am tempted to get my hands on a Toyota 1GZ-FE engine that could put in something else like my Volvo. Would be cool to have a street legal Volvo 940 with a 5.0L V12 engine in it.
Better talk to @Rævskjegg I'm pretty sure he had to dump a beloved custom Jeep due to Norwegian laws about aftermarket mods
Can I ask your opinions
So I need a new LS engine. Options are
1750 bucks, 5.3 ls with LS1 bolt ons, rate late
2700 bucks, complete LS1 from a 99 firebird, rate baby
3500 bucks, L99 (ls3 with DOD and VVT) , rate box
or maybe a complete LS3 for 4000. However thats gonna be difficult
TBH, when it comes to LS all you need to do is throw more boost at it to make more power. if you want N/A, get the biggest motor possible. If you are going with a power adder, literally any LS will do.
Not planning on boost or other power adders.
Please keep in mind that while an 5.3 is a great option in the US, as you can make it better with just a few bolt-ons. Everything here is MUCH harder to get
For example a 100bucks high pressure oil pump will cost 130usd there, but 300usd here including shipping/taxes etc., Camshaft 300bucks at summit, but way on the way to 500-600 before i get it.
That's why I'm learning towards a bit more of a complete package
iron or aluminum 5.3? iron 5.3 holds more power than any of the aluminum ls engines.
Anyone got any experience with the early hatch Imprezas? Found a great low mile STI for a very reasonable price, full service history and logs etc. I'm aware the engines commonly blow up but he's a second owner running stock internals. I've always wanted one.
Is it just safer to stay away from the 08 - onwards models to avoid these problems?
The best thing is to just start talking to "Biltilsynet" and tell them about your plan. It's much easier to get mods approved if you talk to them about the plans for mods first.

Yes it's an LS1! So the L99 was sold (for 7k lol). And he didn't have 5.3's in stock atm. But I did get a killer deal on this. Traded in the 5.3 + 300bucks for a low milage LS1 that comes with absolutely everything. Plan now is just to clean it up, ATI harmonic balancer, replace power steering with E36 unit, remove AC
Jaguar V12, do it bitch.

Cheap, parts are easy to come by (as far as v12's go), relatively small, easy to make power on, simplest v12 out there, and sounds like sex on wheels.
If we're looking at the cost of getting the car/engine it seems like it would be cheaper to import the 1GZ-FE from Japan including the shipping and VAT than to get the cheapest Jaguar V12 here, which seems to be 10k USD at the lowest. But considering it's quite an investment of both time and money things may change before i decide to go for it or not.
So I found a Volvo near me. It's a 2004 S60R, and they are asking 10900.
Oh and it has 7,800 miles
Worth it, and if so what do I look out for with this particular model and year.
is there no supply of jaguar XJ's or XJS's up there? You can pick up a parts XJS with a solid 12 in it for like 2500 bucks here
Allow me to sing you the song of my people:
Literally the most borderline autistic guide you've ever read
Most of this will apply to all P2 chassis vehicles although with that low of a mileage it's possible that many things like the PCV system wont apply.
The cheapest one i've found with a V12 engine is an XJS that has 267k km and it's 10k USD.
what the fuck man
Holy fuck that's a unicorn. I've seen Rs closing in on 100k miles go for 7-8k.
It runs the same motor as any P2R or 'T5' so same quirks and features, i don't know if it has a fancier AWD system, but it does have "4C" electronically controlled shocks. They crap out eventually and are very expensive, often cheaper to just buy coilovers.

new car parts are always glee inducing.
I had to get the non year correct fancy boy key too. look at that sonva bitch. It's a petty symbolic thin since the truck isn't anywhere near running, but sometimes you gotta do little pleasers like that for it's own sake.
