hahahaHAHAHAHAH notifications don’t even work everytime I hit the bell button nothing happens Hitting the home button works 1/5 of the times i constantly refresh the page every time nothing works just so maybe hopefully it’ll start working again could be cause I’m using chrome app on iPhone
This never even happens to me on mobile though
this happens on the website, it's mostly fine if you use Facepunch Droid I've found
Honestly, when a by comparison tiny fucking Doom forum can do a better job at switching to new forum software than you do, then you've got some serious issues to sort out. It used to run on vBulletin not too long ago, just like the old Facepunch. So what did they do? Did they take several months to develop and implement the thing, splitting the userbase in the process? Nope, just flicked a switch from one day to the next. Old forum was gone, new forum was up, 95% feature-complete. Did they arbitrarily introduce new features over a period of multiple months, breaking old ones and restructuring subforums in strange ways? Nope. All subforums (except Post Hell, which was a shitpost gallery anyways) were still available, same structure as always, and they remained that way from the point of introduction. The most controversial point was the replacement of the old idgames archive (where mods were hosted) with an incomplete modern variant. After people complained about it, what did the admin do in response? He brought it back as a legacy viewer, so that old links would continue to be functional, and it's been there ever since. And the forum later even got a substantial design upgrade by one of the community members. I think I know what the difference between Doomworld and Facepunch is. Do you? Hint: Doomworld's admin, as opposed to Garry, actually wants to use his own fucking forum.
Our forum software is built from the ground up. It's disingenuous to compare a switch between already built forum software and propriety software. Garry has hand made these forums because we eventually want them to integrate them into Facepunch games. This is already the case with the reporting system in Rust, the first of many systems to come.
I've noticed that if there's a text box underneath the Home/Bell button they won't work. Just scroll a bit and they should work. I have no problems with the mobile version except text being too small and the avatar cards popping out, but I fixed those with custom CSS.
That's nice and all but the point I think he's making is that the move to the new forum should not have been made until it was nearly complete. I know that Garry already gave the reason why we switched to the new forum despite missing critical features but that doesn't change the fact that the user experience has taken a huge hit as a result. Garry barely uses the forum himself as far as I'm aware so when he does shit to the forum he's largely disconnected for the consequences. This is frustrating to the users because we feel like he doesn't care about us. You say you relay our grievances and suggestions to Garry and I believe that you do but from where I'm sitting he doesn't seem to listen to them because of the long stretches of radio silence. We're never told when or why a change is happening, just one day things are different and lately these changes seem to be completely dumb and pointless.
You are arguing minor differences between two behaviors that lead to exactly the same result, which is the forum not being welcoming to new members and not possessing a welcoming atmosphere. Just because we are in a newpunch period of temporary leniency in bans does not mean that we truly got rid of the past forum culture which still consists of people frequently being reluctant to post things here because of them being continuously bitten in the ass for it regardless. Yeah, you see people with different political opinions post all of whom are ultra serious veteran facepunchers who are intimately aware with how to not get bandwagoned and avoid backlash and you instantly see more lighthearted or less informed users get wrecked for no particular reason. And it is not even about just political opinions, it is about other sub forums also. You appear to be arguing the polar opposite of what i've mentioned and it is not even related to explicitly agreeing or disagreeing with someone, it has to do with the current forum culture and how it reacts to the mistakes of its users as well as its social behaviors in general. Sarcasm is not necessarily the same as shitposting.

If Garry had dedicated a week to just getting shit done on the Facepunch Forums, we'd have significantly more features, way less people complaining, and Garry wouldn't have to worry about shit from then on.
maybe if you hadn't gone the way of youtube and pushing a ton of shitty changes nobody wanted before they were even finished we wouldn't have this problem we still don't have PMs for fuck sakes.
We don't have reporting. That's one of the most basic moderation tools and we don't even have that. We have to post in a thread or go on a third party service to report something.
this entire thing has been poorly planned and executed, that much is certain
Can't we just get @garry to come down here and work on a couple things to improve the forums, maybe talk a little with us?
Why do I get the feeling he'll avoid doing that
well, did he respond?
The real question is, what are you going to do with 720 coins @Trekintosh ?
https://puu.sh/AHxB2/ae1cdecab8.png Gonna get BIG
The commits page is now gone. Now we might not have any idea when things change or what changes.
Obviously the best solution to keep people from complaining about changes is simply to keep them entirely in the dark about it so it takes longer for them to figure out what's wrong.
Wow the roadmap's gone too.
Does Garry act like he does here to his employees?
2019 Facepunch bans are solely handled by Online Lynch Mobs
That's how I always assumed the change was going to be be made, a nearly feature-finished forums ready to be switched to. Now I know nearly nothing about web developing but I feel the way the switch was done was really amateur and probably cost us a lot of users who simply left out of frustration with things like mobile being completely broken.
Yeah to be honest, the move to newpunch was done months too early,.
Making the switch even with its current state wouldn't be acceptable imo
Everyone is complaining that garry isn't really following the roadmap, and now that he removed it everyone is flipping their shit.
"we want more communication about changes and for the forum to be the best it can" so garry's response is to remove one of the few looks we had at features and where the forum would be going. great.
Features that were likely not going to come in the near future. It's clear that it was removed because it was inaccurate and set false expectations.
so then just edit it to be more realistic instead of taking the whole thing down?
