MGSV is my first metal gear game and I don't know anything about the story but I'm having fun
I think for a lot of people mgsv is their first it's a very fun time
slowly going crazy. that's just how life affects the brain
Fuck up the Dictionary
MGSV's story kinda disappointed me, especially since previous games were way more surreal and absurd, but the gameplay is just so damn good I can barely make myself care about that.
I'll definitely pick up the earlier games after this Is there any specific order of playing I should follow?
IIRC the main series chronologically starts with MSG3 MSG3 -> Portable Ops(?) -> Peace Walker -> Ground Zeros -> MSG5 -> MSG1 -> MSG2 -> MSG4 don't quote me on that, I've never played the games
Well am now single but luckily literally everything was genuinely her fault so I don't feel bad other than the fact that I wasted my time
Play in release order. MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, MGSV
I honestly enjoyed MGS4 the most. The only gripe I had was that story could have been improved in a few spots, but I found it enjoyable overall.
Do not play it in this order or you'll ruin the experience and potentially spoil some things. There's a lot of plot points, references and elements across the series that rely on the games being played in release order to work.
k good to know again, never played em
Mgs1 I've been struggling with... It's pretty dated but I want to play in release order
MGS1's gameplay is kind of obtuse and weird. It's the only MGS game I recommend playing on easy mode. Its saving grace is its absolutely amazing story and its short length.
shoe gall sucks
if you enjoyed the majority of those 3 years, then you've still gained something good from it despite it turning out like this in the end. appreciate the good times you had
I played MGS1 a few months ago and finished 2 last week, going through them slowly.
The modern games have much tighter gameplay but MGS' was still very good for its time and stands up as a different sort of game to the modern titles. Despite some real annoyances (like the tower climbing sequence) there's still a lot of parts that are fuck as fuck (the Gray Fox battle for instance).
MGS4 has some really bizarre narrative stuff that feels borderline overlooked, like the fact that the game explains what SOP is about 3 times, saying the same thing each time as if you'd forget, and bizarre shoehorned appearances by classic MGS characters like Dr. Naomi Hunter and EVA, as well as those awful cutscenes that only have boring graphics and visual aids while somebody explains something for ten minutesbut honestly so many of the cutscenes are hype as hell, and the overall story is compelling enough that I absolutely adore MGS4 despite its severe flaws as a game and as a narrative.
That's basically what ties into my gripe about how the story could have been improved in a few spots. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the extra tidbits and cutscenes they threw in, but I sometimes ended up feeling like "okay, I get it already, let's continue to the actual story and not this long-winded explanation" because of how long some of the cutscene instances were. Still like it the most, though.
isn't the final cutscene in MSG4 like 90 minutes or something
