Stand around in Boscombe just long enough to be offered, but not long enough to be stabbed?
fuck boscombe it's human safari over there
Anybody able to help out with getting a loan?
I'm about to do a 3 week course that is essential for my work in November, the thing is it's far outa town and obviously over a 3 week period. I don't currently drive so I'll have to rent an apartment for the 3 weeks or something.
Anyone have any luck getting loans for this kind of thing anywhere? Are banks the best place to go? My credit score is poorish so it ain't been easy.
Surely your work should be paying for that?
If it's only for a few grand then you should have no issues going into your bank and speaking to someone about it.
It's an entry training course to the sector, the course is being paid for already (sponsored by the gov) but as to accommodation and the like, it's all up to me it seems.
I'll try poke my head into my bank and ask around, the things I've done online so far haven't been successful but maybe in person will be better.
Take in the last 3 months payslips and total up your average mo thly spending.
Afraid this isn't going to work, my last job was for a company abroad (I was out of country for 3 years) and due to some shitty circumstances, I found myself back in the UK. Money has ran out pretty quick and I've got by with odd temp jobs and staying with family until I make my next move. Thing is this course is a bit of a game changer for me. After I land this with a bit of luck I'll be travelling and earning a good wage but right now I'm shit outa luck in finding financing for actually doing the course.
I'm in NE England right now and it seems like every city around here gets by on fucking job seekers allowance and universal credit because your regular job gives like 20 hours a week, dunno what's wrong with this area.
I dunno if they will take any of this into consideration at all, I legit might be spending 3 weeks of November in a tent which isn't appetizing to say the least because regardless if I find accommodation or not I need to attend this course.
I've never heard of someone having to pay their own accommodation on a work training course
It's not through work, it's a course to gain qualifications to work on smaller oceanic vessels. The work will come after.
oh
Thoughts on this season of taskmaster lads?
Hey lads, I'm planning on going on vacation in the UK for two weeks, either in November or December.
I'm sure 2 weeks is not remotely enough to visit everything, but I'd like to spend some time in the most noteworthy places, maybe also visit the RoI for a few days. Are there areas you know of that would be cool for tourists like me?
Also, what is available in terms of trains/bus/carpooling to get around the country?
I don't live in the UK anymore but I did for a while and visit often; generally speaking it is fairly easy to get around by train and bus, but it is very expensive compared to continental Europe imo.
If you like museums and shit London, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh are great (Scotland may be a bit out of your reach for 2 weeks though, depends where you want to go/what you want to see) and can be accessed fairly easily by the rail network, just remember that it can be expensive. You can book tickets in advance from Trainline or company-specific sites to save a lot of money on your fares however.
I dunno what carpooling/uber is like in the UK as I've never used it there. Getting a taxi is not hard in my experience though.
Don't come to the Luton area, there is literally bugger all here but a cinema and racism.
Orkney Isles would be a pretty neat place for you to visit and walk around, the whole place is powered by 100% renewable energy.

Lake District, Dartmoor/Exmoor and Snowdonia are my recommendations.
If you're into your history (specifically military history) I can 100% recommend the Leeds Royal Armoury. It's a short trip from the train station, directly opposite a Holiday Inn and is free.
It also has a kick-ass souvenir store but I'm guessing you don't want to carry around a sword during your vacation :V
As for touristy things I'll ask around, see what some friends think. Depends if you're after doing something and/or just seeing things.
As for transport book trains in advance where you can, it's cheaper to fly a lot of the time. Buses/coaches are pretty cheap, especially in London (make sure you have contactless for these). Taxi's are expensive but Uber is available in almost every city (do this for convenience, not distance). That's the jist of it.
Aye, leeds armoury made me go out and buy an air rifle as an adult
Just arrived in London, Jesus fucking Christ it's cold up there...
Can't imagine how it'll be in Aberdeen next week.
Spent an hour and a half playing Uno in Tabletop Simulator and it was wholesome.
Did anyone die?
only my bad mood
Got told to investigate a theft of a lighter today. Absolutely gobsmacked.
Just spent 10 minutes telling the fella about when its proportionate to call Police and he claimed that the Police were corrupt because we wouldn't investigate poor peoples crimes.
thanks for curly wurlys, dont know what id do without them.
Anyone had the festive bake from Greggs? It’s actually quite tasty and dare I say it, better than the chicken bake.
Also, why have we switched back to this old thread? Was the new one too depressing or something? @Hezzy sort it out mate. UK CHAT V6
Speaking of Greggs. Saw they had a poster in the window about their new "Mint Hot Chocolate". Went inside and asked for one, apparently none of the stores in the area were given the Mint syrup.
I'm addicted to them, delicious.
