i just wanna take a bite out of a living cow and my steak tastes reflect that
Sear it first then cook it slowly after smart ass
Yeah, this. You use expensive cuts of beef where flavor, moisture, and tenderness are paramount- all things that are degraded by cooking. You use cheap cuts of beef for applications where you're going to thoroughly cook it, and then typically add other flavoring because cooked-through beef on its own is fairly bland.
Like, I get personal preference, but if you prefer the texture and flavor of thoroughly cooked beef, why buy steak? Why not make something like a beef bourguignon or pot roast, which allows you to use cheaper cuts, is cooked in a manner that thoroughly tenderizes it, and augments the flavor with additional ingredients?
i ain't into that kinky shit
Flavour develops through a complex series of chemical reactions that happen when meat is exposed to high temperatures. Most of the flavour of a steak lies within the outermost layer that comes into direct contact with the heat source; the interior of a steak is comparatively bland and is mostly there for texture. Stir-fried beef, being sliced thinly, cannot achieve this duality of doneness and so has to be cooked well-done throughout. Tender cuts are preferred for stir fry for this very reason.

Old but gold. I don't have this monitor anymore, but it was definitely a beauty when I did.
CRTs are cool, but they use so much power and if you open it up you're running a serious risk of hurting or even killing yourself. Though the ability to just throw shit at them and have them display at ludicrous speeds is a major advantage.
"Hey CRT from 1998, run this game at 240Hz."
"Not problem, mate.
Exactly this, CRTs are dangerous, but as long as you're not stupid they're awesome, you can also get CRTs from 20 years ago that are able to do 200Hz (Iiyama monitors for example), the color reproduction is great, there isn't a set number of pixels, so it can display a wide variety of resolutions natively (as in no up or downscaling), and the colors are a lot more warm than LCD screens, which almost always have a blue tint over everything, even when configured properly. 800x600 on a CRT looks just as crisp as 1920x1440, and can often offer much higher refresh rates at a fraction of the cost of LCD monitors (I got a CRT monitor for $20 that could display 170Hz by 800x600, 160Hz at 1024x768, 140Hz at 1280x960, etc up to 85Hz at 1920x1440, while my 1920x1080 BenQ XL2411Z costed 10x that and can do 144Hz on 1920x1080, the color reproduction is AWFUL)
here's an unpopular opinion that I've recently 180'd on. OLED displays are a terrible dead-end technology that needs replacing ASAP. Burn-in isn't ever going to be fixed on OLEDs and it's almost impossible to raise their refresh rates above 60Hz. Power consumption when displaying white is unacceptably high and the grey-to-grey behavior has gotten worse if anything over time. The perfect blacks are amazing but they're not worth the mountain of compromises.
That said, I think micro-LED active matrixes are probably going to pop up at some point, and I bet that'll be a much more successful technology.
Ahh, that serves me right for not following CES. I usually follow Computex a lot more closely, despite usually being a bit less interesting.
What's wrong with oled?
Burn-in, power consumption, grey-to-grey performance, refresh rates.
If the steak ain't crunchy I ain't got the munchies.
I don't enjoy cringe compilations or, really cringe humor at all. I kinda just find that stuff deeply upsetting and then I start over-examining myself and I start to feel like everything I do is awful too
TVs are gonna die slowly
Nobody needs 4K tv these days, and even the 1080p ones are still decent enough
Even with the huge discounts these days, I still have a 1080p one from 2007 and it works fine
When people say "insert witty X here" it makes me want to shit
Country music as far as I have ever heard around here has only sung about things that are totally, completely meaningless and nebulous. They won't sing about anything that has character or soul behind it, it's all insanely spelled out and mind numbing.
just look at Kidd Rock, who grew up in luxury and sings about growing up a redneck and toughing it out, it's all a big dumb illusion.
I fucking hate summer.
At least you won't get disgustingly sweaty by literally existing during winter, fall and maybe spring.
Modern television as we know it is being killed by the internet, I doubt it'll die off entirely for a very long time though, and your opinion of 4K TVs becoming the standard is fine, as long as your argument is not that 21:9 will become the standard aspect ratio, as 21:9 is (imo) garbage, and pixel density does not require making the aspect ratio larger, aspect ratio and resolution are not directly linked (as I'm sure you know), pixel density is basically an unlimited field, we have OLED displays (which are indeed garbage, I thought they were good in the past when they first became big in like 2012 though.) that can display 1280x720 resolutions despite being like an inch large (obviously I'm exaggerating), so 16:9 is fine for the standard aspect ratio and doesn't need to change (but it may, we'll see), as technology advances so does our ability to pack more pixels in a denser area, case being 42" TVs that are 1280x720 and then 27" monitors that are 1920x1080 and 2560x1440.
All hail 16:9 (unless ur GAMIN then 4:3 is my preference because I'm an old person.)
Another problem is that the online community for it isn't super prominent/good, so it's pretty hard to find stuff to get into it with. I've given rap, shoegaze, etc. a try just from opening threads on facepunch/4chan by curiosity but you don't quite see that with country.
i love loot based games where you have to grind against certain monsters to get that certain item you are after.
i think borderlands' grind is fun (at least pre-UVHM in BL2, everything becomes un-fun bullet sponges in that mode, at least in my experience. TVHM is probably my favorite of the three)
sometimes it's nice to sit back and listen to a podcast while doing something kind of menial
American democracy is a really poor example of democracy.
Currently you have a president who is doing things that would otherwise got him in jail, but still hasn't. Other fpers argue that investigations take time, but how much time are you going to give him? After his term? The GOP holds immense powers, and yet, with something so illegal, the government agencies are unable to override their powers to make any arrests.
And so what if he ever gets arrested? The VP or next in line could just pardon him, like what happened to Nixon. Its ridiculous when other countries punishes their head of states but you could just get pardoned in US and get away with it.
Republicans fervently defend him regardless how damning the allegations of sexual harassment and working with Russian intelligence, and even with all the remarks he made, they see no wrong with him, and at the same time, the left and democrats are giving the republicans and right wing people ammunition for their views, the right love pushing on the boundaries on their views, and the left are being too conservative when it comes to being politically correct or incorrect. Anyone with a balanced view just get blasted by both sides for being against their side. Its becoming impossible to have a balanced discussion when it comes to American politics, because it just becomes a shouting match over who's right or wrong.
I have doubts on Trump even getting impeached, arrested, or the people of United States getting up and standing against him. It should had happened a long time ago, and it hasn't even happened now, so when and how long is this going to take?
I don't want this thread to be filled about Trump, but I'm just stating my point on the American model of democracy.
It may not be the most popular opinion, but this is feels unpopular enough.
Much easier to dress well, too
This. If I could wear my suit pants and jacket every day without dying I'd basically be in heaven
While it wasn't great, The Last Jedi isn't as bad as salty fanboys make it out to be, and that's me talking as a Star Wars fanboy.
I don't give two fucks how cooked or uncooked you enjoy your steak.
American democracy is flawed, but it’s mostly down to a culture problem. Americans just absolutely hate each other; politics is a contentious topic in any country, sure, but Americans feed on cults of personality (Elon Musk, Donald Trump etc) and are so quick to resort to hostile “us versus them” politics on a scale that you don’t see in any other developed country.
There are ways to improve the structure and processes of democracy in the United States; especially in local and state governments. But Americans, and indeed many people around the world, also need to learn how to be courteous to one another. This can include treating others with respect even when others do not reciprocate, recognise that everyone has their own perception of politics and therefore avoid name-calling or putting labels around people (eg no longer calling people libtards or trumpets; hell, avoid using liberal and conservative labels too). It also means engaging in dialogue rather than simply shutting people down just because you disagree with them.
And although I am frequently shocked and disappointed by things that Trump says or does, it really isn’t productive for people to talk about locking Trump up or impeaching him. Let Mueller continue with his investigation. If Mueller’s well-informed findings are that Trump is guilty of whatever, then yes, that is the time for impeachment talks. But in the meantime, we afford a presumption of innocence to most people. And that should include politicians. Point is, people should respectfully argue against Trump on the merits (or lack of) of his policies and administration. Rather than resorting to calling him a criminal or traitor.
>:(
I mean, all the stuff you listed is why I love New Vegas so much, so I guess we just play games for different reasons.
