I just realized not every video for the Shitstorm has to be an indie jogo with the occasional jumpscare

I don't think this deserves a dedicated thread, but due to ZONE having ties to best friends, I'll put it this here.

I blame Woolie!
wow, a whole hour of buildup to nothing!
Like I know Shitstorm is one of the biggest workloads for them, since they need to make a new video for every day of October, but you'd honestly think that by this point they'd have realized that they should start filming super fucking early in the summer, get a good couple hours of each game, and then have someone edit each one down to just the best parts. Or, if it's too much, just cut down on the number of videos and focus on quality over quantity.
Because I feel like the vast majority of Shitstorm videos are borderline unwatchable filler because it's a genre convention for nothing much to happen for the first 30-50 minutes of a horror game. When you're watching a horror LP, you ideally want to see some people get spooked, but if the game decides to build its world and story for the first hour, then all you're gonna get is a bunch of boring puzzles and hallways rendered in the Unity engine.
The only Shitstorm videos I really like are the ones where the game is over in 20 minutes (like that Momo one from the other day or PT) or where something entertaining happens right from the start (Spooky's House of Jumpscares, Call of Cthulu, The Grudge, etc.). OneyPlays put out a one-off about some weird sasquatch game and the entire video is consistently entertaining throughout because you get a good balance of fun conversation and things actually happening; it's not just 50 minutes of meandering around with nothing happening capped off by the slightest hint of a scare and "well, I guess that's this game".
The good Shitstorm videos are fucking classic, but there's a very good reason I opt for unofficial Best Of compilations the vast majority of the time (except in the case of Spooky's Jumpscare House, because that video is absolute gold from beginning to end).
I think the best shitstorm we've had for years was the one where they played three games, but then did ten episodes of each game, and if I recall, even picked one up as a regular series afterwards. It's also just clearly hard for them to actually find 30 different horror-games to play that are actually mildly interesting at this point.
Great podcast this week. Also Eyepatch Wolf wins.

One Late Night continues to be one of the best Shitstorm videos, as with Calling

Welp, it's the end of an era, in more than one sense. Hype as fuck though.

Yeah I had to look at the other options, and while Zer0 had that cool feint moment, Cassius has the sickest shit ever. FIREBALL
is this the first time we actually get to see the inside of a vault? all the other borderlands games just end with you killing the vault monster, then credits. this whole time, i thought the monster and its loot was the only 'reward'
i can't wait to see how much from this game carries over to borderlands 3. the crashed helios at the very least
If BL3 doesn't have a single thread from TftB, it'll be a complete waste of potential. There's a lot of plot threads and characters that could go somewhere if given the chance outside of the Telltale Shitgene, even if they were to make some routes "canon" for the ease of storytelling.
Anyway, that's it for that series, based on what Matt said on the podcast we have a Dreamcast game in our feature.
BERSERKERRR
As long as the next game is set after Tales and still on Pandora, they have to at least touch on Rhys, Helios and Hyperion, that's all too significant for there to be absolutely nothing, even if it's set pretty far in the future. I'd say the most likely characters they'd include in a future game are probably ones like Vaughn and Sasha (instead of Rhys and Fiona), where they're still significant enough that they can talk about events from Tales, but there's less problems with decisions having to be made canon.
But hey, maybe they'll surprise everyone and have someone be a playable character in the next game, there's certainly enough options for that to happen.
yo check it

Pre-sequel's final boss is inside a vault. Too bad PS is fucking atrocious, Especially since almost half the quests are about finding hard to reach echo devices with horrible "comedy" on most of them.
Going from PS to BL2 was night and day and made me appreciate how BL2 knew when and where to be funny. A lot of later scenes are serious with fucked up shit going on, but balances it out with some comedy. Prime example is the exploitation reserve's echo devices are people being experimented on or tortured in the facility, with one being a mother telling her kid to look away when shes about to be slagged. Then bloodwing gets mutated and detonated after almost rescuing her, and everyone knows everything is going to shit real fast.
Meanwhile PS has nonstop lolrandum moments, none of the baddies are actually villains or even intimidating, Every single playable character is fucking garbage (ironically, clap trap is the most tolerable one when the game insists hes the most annoying), Story was all over the place with the goal shifting every act for no reason, and all the sidequests were like putting your nose to the grinder for 10-40 minutes for a little cash and XP with horrid comedy. Top it all off, after playing the entire thing with a friend, we found exactly 2 fucking orange guns out of chests and maybe 14 purples.
God the game is awful, and if GB goes back to the same writers for PS instead of tales or B2, i'm not touching it with a 10 foot pole.
Best podcast segment in a while.

I can't believe I never realised until now that the OG Gameboy had fuck all good games. My memories of playing the shit out of Red/Blue/Yellow and those Mario games on it made me think it was really good.

DMC4SE is now selectable.
I can't believe I'm saying it but Liam is actively ruining Woolie's Nier Automata playthrough. He's telling him to skip sidequests including some that are basically integral to the plot because they're thrown at you, and has basically told him to not level ever.
He's redoing sections in the last area of the game because he's so unbelievably underleveled that he's almost a whole playthrough behind in terms of combat strength
To be fair, theres plenty of side quests Liam says to avoid to do them later with the level select, because they'll be more fulfilling then. And while your latter point sucks, we at least know he got to credits thanks to the friendcast.

THUG2 is the apex of Tony Hawk. The systems are all there, it's tight as FUCK. The story is nuts, but not senselessly so, it leans into jackass because that was the hottest shit back then.
And THUGPRO, the mod that adds tons of extra features and models and restores online multiplayer, is still kicking. It's mostly modelswaps but it gets nuts:

Tapping into Jackass for THUG2 was a fucking inspired move. It gave them an in to do so much weird shit with people the skating world were familiar with and really push it further than that "Eric steals a tank!" scene from THUG.
American Wasteland was okay too I suppose, but I don't remember it being as consistently fun. Also it was much shorter if I recall. But NO LOADING SCREENS!!!1!one!

The only sad part about these clips is that it doesn't have the twitch chat, and on this subject it was hilarious- quite a few dumbasses came out of the woodwork to defend R* and crunch in general, all the while others mocked them. The true fun of twitch
wow i was not ready for that nostalgia blast, thug2 was my shit

So much detail in that intro art, skelmo is genius.

Holy fucking shit this is one of the hypest and best looking fighting games I've ever seen
That fucking match at 35:30
You know you've got a good game when their commentary is nothing but hype noises
