I think we can all agree that the attitude of the game is udder trash- from Tyler Durnte to formerly fedora'd Vergil, someone decided that this was the kind of punk that the game needed. Like, look at this shit-

Like, holy shit, he'd get kicked out of Matt's tryhard museum for trying too hard. I'm glad this version of Dante won't see the light again
Whenever I think to myself "maybe donte wasn't as bad as i remember" I remind myself of the DANTE IS presentation and go "oh right".

This is just sad to look at.
I'm so glad it blew up in their face.
usually a third party wanting things toned down to avoid an R18 is awful, but here it was probably one of the wiser development decisions
Oh JESUS it was that Alex Garland they had on screenwriting for their games? How the fuck did they get the dude who worked on 28 Days Later, Sunshine, DREDD, and Netflix darling Annihilation to help them write their laughably bad plots?
Ninja Theory will forever confuse me. They seem to have some idea on how to actually make a game that works, but it's always lacking something.
That arm blade thing is hilarious because it just makes you think "MAN WHAT IF WE STUCK BLADES ON IT MOTHERFUCKER"
(Hit wrong post and can't erase, thanks mobilepunch)
Gotta remember, they were a game developer before DmC- I can only assume it was the exception, not the rule.
I'm pretty sure I remember a ton of critique of the weird fetish nuns of Hitman, but admittedly didn't see any talk of DmC or cage games until recently. Probably because the industry has a lot more diverse writers than it did back a few years ago, I'm glad for it.
I feel like I may have been one of those suckers. Too young to buy DMC3 and DMC4, but old enought to buy into the "DmC" hype and backlash of the old games, but never bought it because..........Huh. Why didn't I buy it? Anyway I watched a ton of fan videos on old Dante vs new Dante and was convinced how fun the old games looked and sounded.
Looks like I'll have to buy them or rent them at some point before DMC5.
Meanwhile at best LP ever pt 4...

Seeing Matt and Woolie get hyped over the Disney villain congregate is fucking dope.

So pat was a bee for a while and now he's a cube.
https://twitter.com/AngriestPat/status/1066838678314631169
So that's a thing.
https://twitter.com/SunhiLegend/status/1066847507995680771
It is indeed a thing.
Before the cubes and bees stuff, Pat argued that, since Smash got leaked in Mexico, you should pirate the game, and that Nintendo is being shitty for not releasing the game now (digitally or otherwise). Obviously it's a complicated issue with different talking points, but I can't stop laughing at-
Honey I had to get that prostitute: I wanted sex, but you told me I had to wait! There's people in Mexico having sex right now, why can't I?
Buying that prostitute was pro-consumer.
I'm loving all the people that are actually mad at him and saying "I'm unfollowing pat" because of this. Why is this dumb hot take the one that gets peoples jimmies rustled? Dude has been making them from the beginning of 2bfp.
I unfollowed Pat a while ago, yes this is his gimmick but at a certain point you get tired of his stubbornness and how much it floods your timeline. Not to mention that he continues to quote tweet without thinking or caring about its consequences (gets more people mad, continues the conversation longer with wildly different contexts, worse case scenario sends his followers after the person he qrted).
Anyway, he's gonna talk about it on the podcast today and Woolie will probably explain why this naive ass take couldn't work. Gonna be fun.
I'm fairly sure Pat is actually just a 50 year old dwarf. His Twitter antics like the quote replies are an incredibly old person thing, or someone who genuinely just wants to stir shit.
Watching Twitter blow up over it was fun though. I'm not entirely sure I can sit through him and Woolie discussing it on the podcast, heated Pat moments on the podcast vary from funny to genuinely concerning sometimes.
It feels like the latter, but its probably just "I want everyone to see my point". In the end though it just highlights certain people being shitty and those on Pat's side thinking the shitty people define everyone on that side. I'm so glad to have unfollowed
Sounds like they're gonna try and sandbag it on the podcast, I can't wait.
Like apparently he hassled a game store employee because they had an early copy of a game, told people about it, and did it AGAIN to another store.
Like I'm sorry if I'm not seeing Pat's POV coming from me who deals with customers and payments, that's a shitty retail thing to do regardless if the employee caved in or not. For all we know they guy could have been cursed out, and had to deal with the fact he has to tell his boss he sold a few copies by someone who has a history of doing this before. I've dealt with bad customers, young and old and I'm amazed they didn't do anything close to stealing and having my manager haul their asses out because they were not getting their way.
I already knew his pov was one of naivety/stubbornness of not understanding why stores don't sell games as early as possble, but all those stories he told on the podcast really outed him as a real bastard on this. I understand it's "his gimmick" but it can only go so far
At the very least it was a fun segment on the podcast to see/hear Matt, Woolie, and Alpha try to understand Pat's points, and I can't wait to relisten tonight.

Big mistakes
Seems like this blew up way bigger than I expected it to. Hope folks don't harass Pat about this.
Having worked my fair years in retail I can feel for Pat here, your brain really gets fucked with when you work that shitty of a job, thankfully I never worked at a place as bad as where Pat worked but I can definitely attest that when you do that kinda shit, especially for 8 years? Yeah you can suffer some legitimate trauma. I wouldn't say it's a backdown, I think it's a legitimate epiphany from someone who had to work one of the shittiest fields on the workforce for 8 god damn years.
Retail's fucked yo.
i remember an interview he and Matt did for a local Montreal news site just when they were hitting it big, and Pat said that before the channel took off and he was able to quit, the job and his money problems were getting so bad he "was in a place where most people would go throw themselves off bridges".
so tbh i'm just pleased that being kind of a dick around retail workers is all that came of that
I think the weirdest thing is that, between him and Paige.
Pat is the sane one
They're both disfunctional in their own unique ways, I wouldn't claim either one was more sane than the other
Paige has been "checking for worms" in her burgers since she was like, 8, all because her mother made an offhand joke about mince looking like worms.
Paige also doesn't understand how public transport works. She lived in Japan for half a year and got lost literally every time she took a train because.
And I'm not joking.
Thought trains just took you where you needed to go.
Paige "You Just GUESSED On Your Prescription" Mustard or whatever her last name is...
At least Pat, unlike Paige, doesn't make me wonder how he's still alive on a day to day basis every time I think of them.
Paige is just an alternate universe Pat who somehow came into our world.
