[Ignore this, damn you newpunch] I cant believe we've hit 9 and didn't get a new video. Like I should expect not to but somehow I kept expecting one. That'll be a habit to break.
Pat missed out on a DnD session with Matt and Crymetina, and then Matt called Paige a succubus. But don't worry, in like a year, Pat is gonna be streaming Dark Souls 2, Matt is gonna break into his house and then they're gonna go to the water park together and it'll all be fine again.
STER is a fucking weirdo
Pat and Jerma share an affinity in the vertically disabled department
It's really embarrassing when one of your members has their SO stand in for you and it... ends up being one of the best podcasts in ages with you not there.
That's probably because Pat and Paige actually want to talk to each other. Everyone rags on Matt for being on his phone a lot during the podcast and not contributing as much, but if this was a long string of feelings that snapped like it seems to be there probably was a reason other than "Matt was bored". No, he just didn't like being around Pat anymore and felt obligated to stick around. And I don't blame him in the slightest. Anyway, this thread is coming to a close soon it seems (I think 34 pages is the limit, weird newpunch), and I don't know if I'll be hearting the next one- it'll probably be filled with speculation, theories, and embarrassing posts trying to take a jab at one of the former friends. Y'all try to keep it kind, ya hear.
Either this is going to be the last Zaibatsu thread or we start making 3 (4?) separate threads for all of them. (If any really) Could also continue just having 1 thread for all of them as usual, but I think that would be kind of weird tbh.
I thought Matt and Pat sounded more like buddies again during that Star Trek LP, but here we are now, at the end of all things.
I see it like this. The sub-reddit isn't going anywhere, the mods have basically said to post things like normal that're related to the guys, so I don't see why we can't remake the thread when this one goes (and if FP does go, I'll see you over there). Besides, it's not like we didn't post some of Liams content here in the last 2 years because it was taboo. I propose calling the next thread something like 'SBFP Cinematic Universe V1'.
Canadian Schmucks Megathread V1: wha happun?
Yeah, I don't see any reason to really change much about the next thread other than the name. I don't really think any of them post enough non-stream content for a thread for any one of them to work, anyway. Though, we could always include content from other people they're associated with, to help fill the gap that now exists. Like Clemps, TierZoo, Super Eyepatch Wolf, Mother's Basement, Plague. Probably others I'm forgetting, too. I haven't actually said anything on this whole thing yet, so I'll say it now. It's really sad to see them split like this, they were one of my favourite channels and I always looked forward to their videos. I could tell something was up the other day when the urgent circumstances tweet happened along with there being multiple KH episodes in a row and more content without Pat (other than DmC), but I didn't expect it to turn out to be this. It's a shame it seemingly happened so abruptly too, it would have been nice to have more of a goodbye like when Liam left at the end of the Megaman X LP. Still, I hope they do well in what they all do next, and that they end up happier for it. With any luck, we'll still end up with some of them doing stuff together outside of one-offs and podcasts, like Woolie and Pat doing DMC5. There's already the Woolie/Liam Nier Automata LP, and a Matt/Liam Resident Evil 4 LP, so hopefully more will end up happening, even if they're more random and sporadic than normal.
Reminds me, weren't Woolie and Liam planning on playing Guacamelee 2 after Nier? Could have sworn one of them said they were going to.
I see TierZoo and Super Eyepatch Wolf get their videos posted in their own thread every now and again in General, which is really heartwarming now considering they got signal boosted hard by the Zaibatsu (don't forget they also created Wolf because of a HxH rant). I would totally be down for Canadian Schmucks Extended Universe, Plague's videos are enjoyable to have on in the background but they wouldn't get much attention in their own thread, and I'd consider other's like Clemps and Mother's Basement videos being niche around here.
I wonder if any of them are going to start a Patreon now since they're all (mostly) separate and not all under one banner anymore. Liam didn't start one when he left, but who knows really about the others.
I'm pretty sure Pat pulls higher viewers than the RSS (I'm just using that as a baseline, nothing more) more regularly so he'll be fine, Paige is similar in size and she's also holding down an IRL job so I don't see them struggling anytime soon. That's if he can keep off the Warframe plat. Matt has already gotten pretty cosy with his main channel now (fuck it's gonna be hard calling their former side channels the mains now) and he does the Flophouse too so that's all good. I just hope Woolie is going to be fine, the Castle Super Beast twitch channel will likely fall into his possession now and he's getting used to doing regular streams. I wish him well and that he remembers it's fine to fail every now and then, his cautiousness is what's kept him from standing out on his own.
So what the fuck happened to Mothers Basement? They used to borderline shill him but anytime he gets mentioned on the subreddit, the response is vitriol
I don't know about other people, but I eventually found his "shill supreme" shtick to be kinda grating over time and just stopped watching his videos about a year or so ago.
Yeah the response I feel from people is they think the shilling has passed it's cute phase and his content isn't what some of his original core audience like any more, which is fair to an extent but otherwise I'm not sure. Looking back at which videos I've seen, in the last 10 months I've watched 24/88 Mother's Basement videos and I feel like I haven't wasted my time watching those select ones.
I did skim through his JoJo cheat sheet video tho and it was pretty bad, so maybe his content just got mediocre. vv
Yeah, I can see what he was trying to do. It was meant for both the returning fan that needed a refresher as well as a Jojo virgin that knows nothing outside of the memes but doesn't do a good job at either. xforts comes to mind as a better source for Jojo related recaps and the like.
I saw some twitter hot takes about how Matt probably didn't like Paige plugging an alt-right podcast at the end of the last friendcast and just her in general, but I somehow doubt the bisexual disabled furcon-going woman is a nazi
I keep hitting up my youtube Subscriptions page and wondering where today's videos are. Man, this sucks.
I really don't think politics would play into it like that. There's been some drama on Paige's twitter about her association with stuff like that but she makes her stance incredibly clear and handles it on her own. I honestly don't believe this is a Yoko type of thing.
I saw this too, apparently they're doing a degrees-of-separation thing about her being friends with Dick Masterson (he's right-wing, a trump supporter, has a style of humor that'd give lefties the vapors, but I wouldn't call far-left) who does have a rogues' gallery of anything from centrists to far-right crazies on his podcast. But like, c'mon, the woman got together with dick to chug mustard, not talk about how much she hates the SJWs. Peach is pure.
I'm just going to stick with my head canon that none of their SOs had anything to do with this and it was just them having a falling out because conflicting personalities made it too hard to work with one another anymore.
His content got really awful. Like, really bad.
Hate to project like one poster, but I feel like I've been here before. This feels all to familiar with a falling out from a group I had a few months ago I mentioned in the old "Social Friendly Chat" thread. We were super chill and had each other's backs for a year and it all was so nice going to exotic locations and trying new things. Then it felt like we needed to scratch each others backs as a obligation to be in, felt like I was taking a load of everyone's baggage that I needed to fulfill, some petty shit too much to list, and it just wasn't fun anymore. So I jumped ship after a long letter and never looked back, and I severely hope everyone does this same. We all want answers as to why our favorite scrublords broke up, we all do, but this ain't it, and it will only hurt yourselves by diving into problems that don't involve you. To hope for the best, the better route is to continue to support their endeavors and go to their own channels now since they seem to be okay with that.
I for one am avoiding the gossip phase. It never helps anybody and just flings around a lot of shit.
Yes, let's avoid painting any of the dudes in a bad light, Liam has his take on Pat and by no means has to accept Pat's olive branch because we don't know what happened between them, nor should we automatically assume Pat's at fault, personalities clash all the time let's not take sides just cause you like X member better than Y. Also concerning the political stuff Liam said on Twitter he can't recall Pat and him ever speaking about political bullshit so call it backpedaling or whatever but I'm inclined to believe him, no need to make the disbandment about politics, it could simply just be personalities clashing and no longer being able to stand each other.
I just hope Matt and Pat become friends again one day. I just want a happy ending.
