Fanks.
Fish Warden - E4 - US ARNG - Medic Thinking about commissioning into the Navy Reserve after my contract is up in 2020. Just have to get through this deployment and finish school. I don't mind the military but being enlisted in the Army sucks dick.
Oh hey, a fellow meat mechanic!
oh great, more people telling me to take motrin and hydrate
None of that does any good without changing your socks!
A healthy diet is a healthy soldier. Don't forget to save an hour a day for PT! Also, please piss in this cup for me.
USMC - Lance Corporal - Enlisted Aircrew/Hueys
It's a tough job. If you're ranking it that high on your preferences you are more than likely to score it as your branch. ADA is continuously changing and growing and there are some opportunities abound if you stay in it. You will hear a lot of old salts that complain of the branch but ultimately it is all on you on what you make of it. Do not let the opinions of others influence yours until you finish off your first duty station. You will be challenged one way or the other but that is applicable to every other branch in our Army.
Tark - SSgt - USAF - SATCOM/Radio Maintenance Honestly, military is p. sweet.
For some reason I thought you were higher ranking than that.
Ayyyy, we used to have a detachment of Hueys and Venoms down the ramp for us. Used to really enjoy those dudes flying overhead as I drove to work, I have a special place in my heart for the Huey Venom from all those years of Arma 2. Sadly they inactivated a few years ago. Related story, we had a cobra pilot visit us for some coord stuff, gave a capes brief and all that jazz. He was supposed to fly with us the next day, but we all showed up to a broke jet and an hour later maintenance cancelled. Solid example on our part
FYI I should add that I'm a reservist soldier and no longer part of the national service. Though I've yet to be called back lol
How was bolc, and are there any tips you’d have for being a 2nd LT aside from the usual listen to your NCOs?
Bubz - A1C - USAF - Fuels I've been in for 2 years now and I love stinky fuel. I hope you guys do too.
Take your easiest college course you attended and throw in daily, morning physical training and that’s what our BOLC is. As for tips on being a platoon leader? Never complain to your Soldiers. Soldiers complain endlessly and seeing you do it validates them and worsens the working environment. You will be signing for millions of dollars worth of government property. Sign your shit down to the lowest level as fast and efficiently as possible or you will get fucked. Take early morning to do it if you have to.
SSGT - USAF - Munitions Systems (Ammo) My only dream is being able to cross train to aircrew
How many times did you get Ninja Punched? You've been in almost five years yeah?
I've been out for almost 7 years now. Never NJP'd, just never promoted cause aircrew loved to lock out back then.
Goddamn.
Updated the OP. US Army and USAF are now tied.
Who actually likes getting tacc'd out and being operational on a regular basis? I'm a boarding team member on a 12 person USCG patrol boat and in my personal experience, scrambling to get all your LE gear + plate carrier + PFD while conducting a boarding brief and then deploying from the RHIB is fucking exhausting. Power to you if you enjoy it, but after changing in and out of gear and buttfucking the small boat in heavy seas only to board a boat that doesn't want to see you in the least bit - I'm way past over it. So over it, in fact, I'm getting rated as an IT specialist so that I'll hopefully never have to do this shit again haha
Welp, reenlisted the other day. 4 more yay....
Can't say I've ever boarded someone but I sure know the feeling of scrambling to get my vest, helmet and medical bag whenever we get a call. There are times tho when my squad leader puts us on standby meaning we eat, shit and sleep in our gear. During Aurora 17 I once slept in full uniform + heavy flak vest and boy, it was cozy.
I'm usually full of adrenaline when I'm rushing to throw on gear, so I don't really mind it. As long as there was a real reason to be doing it anyway.
Turns out I'm getting to do Emerald Warrior at the beginning of next year. From what I've been we're going to Germany for it too!
skynet-SPC-US Army-11B Infantryman
I've majored in Motive Power Tech (fancy word for auto mechanic) in college, and i'm curious if I can use the certification to speed up my specialist training if I end up in the vehicle tech MOS, iirc i'd also get a bump up in pay grade too, right?
Which one of you crazy freedom-lovers are going Norway to free us from our oil sup.. i mean to train in Trident Juncture? Despite me being a civilian cook working in a military base, me and other cooks from my base and other 10+ bases have been selected to feed a few thousand troops during the training operation.
Oh boy, the 9-11 anniversary is coming up, time for cloudy with a chance of mortars with ground attacks possible. Every fuckin year. Wonder what's in store this time?
Forgive me as I havent actually been out there, but they know when 9/11 is and have the idea to try hitting you guys when it comes around? I remember seeing something posted online about how Afghanis, besides maybe oldass village elders and some gov officials, didnt really know what 9/11 even was or could recognize it on photo.
