We still complain about it taking too long though.
we also like to complain about our railways, which is funny, because when my mother was at a conference here in NL there were also people from Britain and they were absolutely amazed that the trains were actually on time
Not that I think that we shouldn't complain because things are relatively good here
Some roads around my hometown have had the same potholes since I was a kid. Installing a tunnel in 48 hours would be like an act of God
Not sure if this fits in here, but I recently visited the Making of Harry Potter in London and saw this statue that featured in the Deathly Hallows part 1. There's something about it that really stands out in my mind. I think it's the fact I enjoy the design and story telling of war memorials and statues, with this capturing the same feeling with the twist being that it's created by the oppressors, with the 'Muggles' being crushed under the weight of the magic world. The motto of the statue is 'Magic is Might'

The photos of this don't do it justice, with each person being life size with pained faces and bodies it gives off an incredibly dark feeling.
Also if you're visiting/living around London i highly recommend it, this was the stand out piece for myself but there is so much there, it's surprising how much of those films are actual sets and props.
I guess that explains why this thread hasn't been updating so much.
I only come here when I get a notification through subscribing, I had no idea GD has gotten so compact with all these threads

i didn't know about this one, that's crazy. the ones i posted are just "laminar flow" which is water flowing with almost zero turbulence
what if it just flickers between movement and not movement
This terrifies me for some reason.
Then you're not stressed, I would guess.
what part? the size of the tower, or the isolation of the rig?
Yes
Guess it's just a normal optical illusion, saw this debunked elsewhere

It was created by Yurii Perepadia, a 50-year-old designer from Oleksandriya in Ukraine
That image should be on the cover of every sex-ed textbook
The Birds and the... Bees?
It's a massive metal structure extending deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep deep down into the ocean floor; the second one with the single massive pillar is even worse
on the surface, under the gaze of the sun in the sky, it's just a bunch of stuff sticking up from the waves. that's not the scary part, the scary part is what the waves conceal. if you were to actually see these things underwater, they would just be gigantic, silent, ominous, monolithic... things extending upwards to a distant light you might never reach... and down, down into infinite, unknowable, eldritch darkness never meant to be pried by the eyes of Man, a darkness looming up to swallow your pitiful mortal existence with all its nameless terrors
...can you tell that i don't like deep water in video games?

More war stuff but still really cool, especially for the radio nerd in me
Just spent like an hour looking up stuff about the planes that were hit in this run. Apparently, one of the survivors of Ash 1 died in the Pentagon during 9/11.
