so i'm doing my return, in other work-related am i just putting "assorted" as the description?
Disclaimer which I should have added to my previous post: I’m not a qualified accountant. I work in an accounting practice, but I am not yet a full member of an accounting body. My advice has no weight.
When we do it for our clients, it’s either ‘assorted’, ‘other’ or ‘various’. Make sure that if you claim that, that your total work-related deductions (which includes laundry but doesn’t include things like donations) does not exceed $300.
yeah should be all sweet then, kept the deductions down under 300
Hey fuckheads all this depressing news about immigrants in the US and being separated from their families reminds me that Australia has been the test case in abusing refugees and whatnot for years. I'm not sure i'll reach anyone saying this, and maybe I'm preaching to the choir, but the way we treat refugees and potential immigrants is disgraceful. Our government keeps them on pacific islands to prevent them from claiming asylum. Our government deliberately makes the asylum process as slow as possible. We have boundless plains to share, but we refuse to allow them to be processed on Australian soil, because we'd legal have obligations towards them if we do. We haven't stopped the boats. We've just stopped reporting about them. Why must we be the example of treating people like shit? Why?
Sorry for not frequenting these threads much and letting the other die
I went in for a major surgical operation on my foot which worked out fine and I got NBN connected the other day (running at 90/40 on FTTN)
Welcome friend, NBN is good when it works.
Also glad your foot is good.
What is it that you want to say?
I had severe doubts because we are FTTN, but being so close to the node (350m) is a blessing. I've had a few issues where doing too much shit (like uploading, being on Skype with webcam on and downloading a bunch of shit) has crippled the internet into the kilobits but I think I'll work that out as I go along.
I'll post a speed test tomorrow when I'm hooked up via ethernet, 5ghz is too dodgy rn for anything that isn't uploading
well boys, there’s nothing wrong with tenuous. I mean for fuck’s sake, we’re Strayans and there’s nothing more Strayan than half-assing something. It’s not just our culture; it’s also literally encoded into our bloody DNA. So don’t you fucking worry about tenuous mate. We live for that shit
What’s everyone’s favourite drop? When you just want to sit back on the couch after a hard day of half-assing shit / doing fuck all, and you need to reward yourself. I hate to be un-Australian but

IPA is disgusting.
you're disgusting
Anyone done a first-year language class at Uni?
Gotta pick up an elective and have been thinking of Spanish, but I don't wanna pick something hard that'll interfere with my real studies.
Were a
Nope but I am a uni grad
I think any language elective is going to be difficult, especially if you don’t have any experience in the language at all (eg if you didn’t study it in high school). Also a single elective in a language may be insufficient in attaining a reasonable grasp of that language.
If you want an easy elective, do a history course.
Pick an elective that supplements your other courses. For example i picked maths subjects for my electives in my info tech degree.
Not just for that @kobalt . Some degrees will offer optional minors, so you may be able to invest your elective units in doing a minor; adds value to your degree, makes you more employable etc. Or in my case, I invested my elective units in studying a pathway to fast track my professional accreditation. It meant that when I signed up with my professional accreditation body for post-grad, I didn’t have to sit any foundation exams. Because I did the lot at uni.
Its probably best to do your compulsory courses first, then your electives at the end of your degree. Gives you more time to prepare for which electives you’ll take.
i've decided i prefer winter to the other seasons. i used to be a big fan of summer but as i've gotten older my allergies have gotten worse and winter is the only time of the year where i don't get super sick.
I'm a fan of every season except for summer.
Summer is too bloody hot and winter is too bloody cold. Autumn is especially shit because the days are still as hot as summer days and the nights become as cold as winter nights.
But spring? Mate, that’s just right
I'm performing a double major in Cell Biology and Chemistry, there's nothing in my degree that says anything about minors that go with my majors, so I think I might assume that my uni doesn't do that. I've got a pretty keen interest in History however, and they offer a couple of minors in that which interest me. And a lot of my major units are locked into specific points due to prerequisites, so I can't really budge and do them early unfortunately.
Thanks for the answer, I might look into the History minors offered and try doing some language stuff as a hobby in my own time!
It really depends on the university and the specific degrees.
In my case, I wanted to go straight into professional accreditation for accounting once I graduated from university. So while I was still at uni, I made sure that I did as many uni courses as possible which were equivalent to the ‘foundation’ courses in the professional accreditation body. Hence how I got fast tracked into becoming an associate straight away.
It’s not always going to be like that. Forgive me for being rusty on it a bit, but iirc most post-grad stuff like MBAs are considered 5th or 6th year stuff; I think all 4th year stuff is considered Honours level. But if you’re currently only at the Bachelor level, you can only study 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year courses.
Well, shit. Bought a crate of Royal Dutch beer.
$40 for 24 500ml cans is pretty tempting.
They're fine. It's just cheap lager, no worse than any other. I think it's just got a bad rep.
Pickwickian mate, your avatar just reminded me that The Wiggles are announcing some big shit in a couple of days.
Haven't been this excited for an announcement in years dude.
When parody imitates life:
Baby Boomers Prepared To Vote For Pauline If Slight Dip In House..
If you don’t follow the toots, are you even Australian?
If you don't, you're probably a baby boomer who barely knows how to use a computer, found the Toot and then blocked it after it made you uncomfortable.
Have to vent: The fuck is wrong with some people on the road? Was on a dual carriageway and was keeping left because, you know, that’s what you’re supposed to do when not overtaking. But some deadset fuckwit was in the right hand lane and causing a bottleneck by not overtaking anyone - instead, trucks which weren’t even doing near the speed limit were overtaking on the left. Traffic was queuing up in both lanes.
But wait, there’s more! The dual carriageway came up to a dual lane roundabout, and the aforementioned moron decided at the last second to brake hard and quickly merge to the left lane to turn left at the roundabout, cutting in front of a truck in the process, and causing a whole heap of people in both lanes to slam on the brakes. Why weren’t you in the left hand lane the entire time you fucking moron?
People who don't keep left should be hung from a gibbet by the side of the road as an example to other motorists.
