Desperate too. Some people are legit desperate enough to throw away just about everything for the chance of a change. It's a revolutionary and reckless attitude which could have been avoided if we just put more effort into addressing the concerns of those left jobless from automation.
I say we coz I'm from the UK and lots of the brexit people fit into this group. Fishing, manufacturing, mining towns suffering heavily from "urban decline" leaving the populace poor and frustrated. They'd vote for anything if it promised improving their situation (even though there is next to no chance of that promise being fulfilled)
Partisan media hasn't helped at all in having an informed voting base. People have entirely different versions of the same facts based on where they get their news and it is almost impossible to debate on a singular idea. It's like playing poker with people who have Pokemon cards while you're using a standard deck.
I would comb through this post with a fine toothed comb for errors, but you start out on a bad, dishonest and disingenuous foot. Your summation of how people are opposed to Trump, the reasoning why, and the creedence you lend them is very, very dismissive and dishonest and doesn't align with reality at all dude.
Try. for one fucking second, removing the bias that makes you look at any anti Trump post as the insanity you described it as. Just try.
The point of a debate is to generate synthesis. Not see who "wins". example. I like Chinese. My ma like Italian. We both debate about where to eat out. We both discover we both like Mexican. There are no compromises. Just a mutually satisfactory solution
sometimes the only middle ground you can find is agreeing to disagree.
Who said middle ground? The example has nothing to do with meeting half way. I assure you it the yellow stone mega volcano were to begin erupting you and trumpets would join force very quick like in an attempt.to counter such an issue
It's hard to find a mutually satisfactory solution when a number of people from both sides seem to have lost all touch with common sense, manners, and reality, not in that order. Also, it wasn't the democratic party that screamed and yelled to shut down change whenever it happened or was proposed, otherwise we wouldn't have the Obamacare fiasco and the numerous lies spread about it. Americans could have had affordable health insurance for all, but because others saw the premiums as "too much to pay", and one idiot even made a tall claim that people need to buy "one less iPhone a month to afford insurance", it got gutted. This isn't the only example of change being ground to a halt.
In the less than 2 years of Trump's presidency, he's thus far taken credit for all the positive measures Obama introduced while regressing America back socially and politically by about 30 or 40 years. He's also laboring under some delusion that President = powerful man who calls all the shots, and his decisions and actions are attempting to make this into a reality. There are few Republicans openly speaking out against this man now because most of them, surprise surprise, would prefer their political careers to be safe rather than suffer the ignominy of being labeled a RINO, and thus an outcast, from party mechanics.
But while I'm of the school that people should be willing to take responsibility for their actions, alienating them entirely for making one dubious decision such as voting for Trump is no use. Desperate people look for desperate solutions, and Hillary didnt do shit to look for support, hoping that screaming about how stupid Trump and most of his supporters were would be enough. You're just pushing them further to double down at this point, and deepening the gulf they see between them and the country's governance.
At the same time, you can't scream oppression if people think outdated ideas of racism, an excess of religion in schools, bigotry, and other such crap should be relegated to a dustbin where they belong. The first amendment doesnt protect a number of things, such as incitement to lawless violence, knowingly making false statements of fact, such as libel and slander, insults used with direct knowledge of being capable to cause a provocation, and certain others, which have been all too often broken by certain parties. It's just that our lawmakers have been turning a blind eye to most of it.
I've been very busy. I've been lurking for a while before signing up
first of all my view on politics is based on my pass time of studying dehumanization, genocide, sociopathic behavior and other such niceties.
Why are you believe in your world views considering you are from india? are
the cultural situation isn't something I can grasp from my American bubble.
Also this be a nice thread to pull up various points to discuss. Issue is i can't pull up post history. Has things changes?
And what with you and others always thinking any one who disagree with you is "on the right"? This Type of thinking is how simpletons think and I doubt folks here are simpletons.I
For example what if I am a jew? Currently the alt right would want me killed and the left history with Jewish people haven't always been kind either.
