Can we make it a bannable offense to post "NOBEL NOBEL NOBEL" in Polidicks? It's such a repeated meme-tier shitpost and it contributes absolutely nothing to any form of discussion.
you could report for "dumb memeshit."
I forget that we have that ability now.
What does that even mean?
It is a joke about Trump not deserving a nobel price, as far as I can tell.
It's some meme shit that started with Trump doing something with North Korea, and now it's spread to everything ironically and it's dumb.
Is there an issue with the website embeds? Animated GIF
Does it happen without custom css?
Happens without custom CSS. Latest version of Firefox. https://media.giphy.com/media/1hAXRrJXpXpEQ6dDxq/giphy.gif
Try this div > div > div.postinner > div.postcontent > div.expandable.postexpand > div > div.ql-container.ql-snow.ql-disabled > div.ql-editor > hotlink > div > div.ec_iframely > div { max-height: none; }
the new event log is sick
I'm using Chrome without any customization, and half the twitter embeds on FP look like that. Recently some Twitter embeds with videos have also become completely unclickable.
I think the issue is that the max-height property restricts the height in doing so, it adds a scrollbar which reduces width iframely tries to do aspect ratio correction on the new width, shrinking the height to match the height is now less than the max-height the scrollbar is removed repeat My CSS fix: .ec_iframely_root .ec_iframely .iframely-embed { overflow-y: hidden; } Also interesting: .ic_framely has settings attribute set to a string "[Object object]" which is probably a bug with some Javascript.
What part of "Mass debate with hard facts and *throbbing* statistics" didn't you understand??
What is the practical purpose of auto closing threads If the new philosophy of the forum is to have relevant topics stay to the top this goes directly against that for no reason that I can think of
If I import another FP account that is older, do I get its join date?
I haven't gotten my 2009 join date yet so no
Rip 2007 join date
the 'new' icon that appears alongside threads in forums is supposed to indicate it's under 1 day old, right? then wouldn't it make more sense to have it list the time it was created (maybe alongisde the shortform date) instead of just the usual 'Thursday June 28 2018' stuff when you hover over it?
Why does the social icon look like a cock ring
Rather than merging them together I think moving Polidicks so it's a subforum of SH is a better choice. That way those who subscribe to SH but don't want political crap clogging their notifications don't have to have it and can filter it out of the subforum but it also isn't taking up a whole forum worth of space on the front page and can have all SH and PD threads showing in the same place.
This is a good idea until you consider that Polidicks was made because non-Americans were tired about the whole subforum being spammed with your President's shennanigans.
make a category for american politics it's icon can be an Orange 🍊
us americans were tired of it too
Q: Can we get the old green "+" thanks rating back? Informative is used so often for TMI stuff, that I feel weird rating it on actual informative posts.
So Garry outright locked the thread regarding new reporting rules without really elaborating on much. It seems rules have gone out the window with newpunch and that we won't be getting a list of posting guidelines? Can Hezzy comment on whether or not there's been any consideration for the incoming drop in post quality? I mean, trolling, image macros, necrobumping, etc, is all allowed now. That's a bit of a paradigm shift that will take a lot to get used to, I think.
I really just want clarification about how this new system is supposed to work, especially since moderators are now not supposed to use the report system. I tried asking but my thread got locked before we got any info.
I can't speak for hezzy or Garry, but I'll admit it's a bit for me to get used to. With that said this is Garry's forum and he can do whatever he wants with it. He's made a lot of drastic changes over the last decade, and I'm sure he'll make more in the future. Whatever he wants to do is what I'm going to go with, and while the atmosphere of the forums change at it's core it's still Facepunch. I'll say that if we want the community to grow we can't be stuck on a set way of things, the forums need to grow and change with the userbase. Some of those changes might be off-putting to long time users, but if you want a forum or any community to grow you can't just focus on old users and the way things used to be. To my understanding the main reason we've let off the brakes is to make things more inviting to new users. This is especially important for guys joining from rust, as under the old way of doing things a vast majority would have been banned which would leave a pretty bad taste in folks mouths for not only the forum but the devs as well. That and what folks deem acceptable has changed quite a bit. Had I seen folks posting stuff like "REEEEE" just a few years ago I would have banned in a heartbeat, but that's just not the case anymore. Ultimately the forum isn't just some semi-secluded community anymore that revolved around some guys mod, it's a legitimate game forum for a video game company. We do need to be more mindful of that.
I do definitely agree with this. Semi-relaxed moderation is a great idea. I'm also a big fan of the warning system I've heard about that's being planned to replace short-duration bans. Facepunch's biggest problem right now is the bad new-user experience/ That said I think this current change to reporting isn't the way to go about it, since it just makes it more difficult to keep serious conversations civil in serious forums like SH and PD, where moderation is most strongly needed. We can make the forums more welcoming to newcomers without punishing old users with bad posting that they can't do anything about.
"Don't report for trolling" is the only thing that really doesn't sit completely right with me. Pretty much every forum I've ever visited has disallowed overt trolling of it's users and the only internet community I can bring to mind that doesn't care about that is 4chan. Are we really meant to just hope moderators come across every instance of trolling, instead of reporting it? What if someone starts Tudd-ing it up again? I'm sure most of these issues will be ironed out as a new community culture is formed, but for now some of the changes made with the reporting system don't seem entirely thought out.
