Old ass video games you still play or have recently played

I too am playing the first Spyro game as well as Crash bandicoot
Snatcher on emulator
Batman on my NES (the music is just too good imo, best song is when you're game over)

I always end up returning to:
Any of the Ratchet and Clank games
Super Mario World
Mario bros. 3
Turok Rage Wars
Mario 64
World of Warcraft
Mega Turrican and Streets of Rage 2&3 are the absolute best to play on my phone.
Every few years I go back and play through the Red Faction series (except Armageddon) so I've been playing Red Faction 1 the past few days. It still has a couple of minor issues on modern hardware even when using the Pure Faction fan patch, but it holds up really well overall.
I'm also one of the few people that likes RF2 just as much as the first game too. Even though it wasn't as impressive due to having massively toned down destruction and it didn't have much importance in the series' plot, I think it's a fun shooter still. Plus RF2 runs pretty much perfectly out of the box on modern hardware despite being a lazy console port.
It's not exactly old-ass so much as just regular old (only been a decade) but I've been playing the Gears of War series. I started years ago but I felt like I was forcing myself to play it by the time I killed the giant fucking worm in Gears 2. Finally came back to it and started caring after getting hit by the infamous Maria cutscene.
As far as actual old-ass games, though, I've got a playthrough of the shitty not-Mario Super Mario Bros. 2. Gotta finish that trash before picking up The Lost Levels and, later, 3.

There's just something about this game that drags me back, more than any other game.
I beat Ninja Gaiden for the first time a few days ago and I'm replaying Castlevania III.
I wish there was a retro gaming thread.
Still one of the best games to date.
NFS Most Wanted
Just played Portal with my girlfriend last night, she'd never played it before, only Valve game she ever played was L4D. She's about to start Half-Life 2 now, I'm glad she's into it.
Unreal Tournament '99
Just bought Silent Storm Gold if that counts lol

Not recently played, but I had this one in my mind for some weeks now.
Going to start it tomorrow if I get my netbook back.

I just recently decided to try out W40K Chaos Gate
aside from those classic Xcom moments where your dudes just instantly explode when you step out of drop ship and some odd bugs its pretty fun
it nails the w40k atmosphere pretty well
The first Battle for the middle Earth. I love the second and third, but the first one feels like im playing the LotR movies and it has less op heroes and powers
buncha old nes, snes and gba games. currently playing castlevania aria of sorrow for the first time.
Deus Ex, and there is a, shall we say, entertaining story about it.
A year or two ago I started playing it the first time with the intention of finishing it. However, I moved to another desktop PC as I was about 2/3 into the game (Paris). Once I was on the new machine I discovered that my save files couldn't be retrived in any way whatsoever.
The event made me lose the will of replaying the game to finish it ever again. Notice that in the meantime I got around to play and finish Human Revolution, Mankind Divided and Invisible Wars.
Recently however, as I was scrolling around Facepunch as I always do, a Facepuncher posted some screenshots about him replaying the game with an overhaul mod I've never heard of, GMDX.
I got curious and decided to finally fill that huge hole inside my gaming career. I'm now around Paris again (sort of).
By the way, if that Facepuncher would be so kind to reveal him/herself here, and offer some proofs too, there is a diamond on the line
General Ingame Media v18
It was meee
Also, I've been playing some good ol' Sven Coop lately. God I love playing that game, it's how I met one of my closest friends. So many fun maps in that game.
And I've been playing Cold War Rearmed 2, which is a remake of Operation Flashpoint/ArmA Cold War Assault in ArmA 2. There is a an Operation Flashpoint remake project for ArmA 3 being made as well which is nice, can't wait for that to come out.
A diamond, as promised
If you haven't yet, play the secret city maps. They are so much fun and so well designed
Half Life 2 Deathmatch
And burnout 3: Takedown when the PS2 is set up.
still playing SOCOM 2 for the PS2 online in full lobbies most weeks....it's a shame the first game didn't have LAN capabilities otherwise we'd all be playing that as the maps are way better
The 3D Universe GTA games, Half-Life 2 and its episode, Portal 1 and some DS games.
Unreal Tournament 2004, that's some good shit to play in LAN.
Shattered Union, Good memories.
Black & White 1 & Creature Isle.
Beasts & Pumpkin is one I'd love to be able to play again but I just can't figure out how to make it work properly.
Command & Conquer Renegade is timeless for me.
Occasionally I'll do a full campaign run of UT2k4, I just love the recruitment and challenging teams for one of their member.
I'm tempted to say Warcraft 3 every now and then for a skirmish but it's not actually that old, especially considering a fair amount of people still play it and it had an update not so long ago for updated resolutions and support.
Project Gotham Racing series
Max Payne 1 & 2
Half-Life series
F.E.A.R. 1
Manhunt 1 & 2
Alien Vs Predator 2
Tony Hawk Underground 1 & 2
Various Doom and Quake mods
Fallout: New Vegas
Blood
Does The Witcher count? It's my first time with the series, and I'm playing the whole thing in order instead of just skipping to 3. Even with the Enhanced edition tweaks, the first game is janky as all get out. Also immensely entertaining, largely thanks to the writing.
