• How Battlefield 5 turned feminist - 1791L

EA is just trying to get those sweet sweet morality bucks so they can fuck the consumer in the ass again and again. I'd like to remind everyone that they recently fucked over Battlefront 2, over and over, and have forced nearly all the people working on it off of the project and onto Battlefield V. In the year it's been out, we've only gotten two new maps (including crait that was basically done before launch), a bunch of cosmetics that were also done at launch (as seen by a thousand mods that enabled their use, as well as their use in the campaign), no new classes, enforcers, or anything of the sort, and only two new heroes (that may have been done before launch). EA also dodges taxes like Neo doges bullets, underpays their employees, and fucks consumers on a yearly basis. But people keep saying "This one will be good, you'll see!", only followed by sad posts a few months later about how "this game turned out like trash" and "I wasted my money!", but are more than willing to shell out their cash again next year so they can get fucked right up the ass. Seriously, EA is the video game equivalent of evil. Never give them money, because they don't deserve it. If you want to support females, how about you go buy a game MADE by a female, there's a thousand cute indie games out there made by talented women, and not by cash grabbing conglomerates.
I honestly think the BF2 failure has to do with them loosing their primary means of income on that game.
And EA was incredibly slow with fixing those problems. Not only did it take them about a week or so after launch to get rid of the crystals, but it took them MONTHS to switch out the lootbox gained levels into the leveling system it is today. Don't forget having to buy heroes, then having to buy heroes (but at a smaller price that was still pretty fucked), and then FINALLY just letting everyone use every hero all the time. BF2 feels like a blatant cash grab, with the campaign that's 90% reused assets from multiplayer, the awful servers at launch, the lies, and the lack of community discussion until recently when they brought in the community manager from Need For Speed to finally get things back on track. All of this, and they didn't tell anyone about it at all. They didn't inform anyone on how the systems worked, and what we ended up with was a mediocre shooter that was rushed out the door. If you think they won't find some way to fuck Battlefield V, you don't know EA. I'm pretty sure they're banking on the battle royale mode to bring in the big bucks (Like Fortnite & PUBG), but when they realize how little people actually want it, you'll see the effects.
They removed them the night before the global launch. It was only people who had the 8 day early access via pre-order and the EA Access 10 hour demo that could buy crystals. Only the launch heroes are free, future ones will cost credits
Oh you're right, I forgot about that. I'd ended up making the mistake of pre-ordering it and trying out the beta, and then the early access.
I feel like I'm a broken player at this point, but fuck it. No one has a problem with women in WW2 or the fact that they're going to be a thing in BFV at all, what people DO have a problem though, is how they chose to implement and represent them. BF1 pretty much ticks all the diversity check points, but does so in a respectful and sensical manner. Indians for Commonwealth, Maori for ANZACs, Cossacks for Russia, women in the Imperial Russian Army, all have legitimate historical basis to be included and represented as the main infantry fighting force. Sure, if you dig deep enough, you'll get stories like the Allied spy with the prosthetic leg, but is it really enough to warrant a sizable portion of the British Army to look like a crippled group of Fallout 4 Raiders? BF1 even showed off a female saboteur very well in its War Stories, so why can't they do the same with the prosthetic spy instead of shoving her in everyone's face in the reveal trailer and opening up the possibility of having an entire team of cripples in MP? Customization can still be preserved, but faction-exclusive options like maybe Indians for the Wehrmacht in France/Africa maps or women for resistance groups or Russia can do a whole lot to calm this entire shitshow down and the game can freely flaunt of its immersion and WW2 label while still ticking whatever PR good boy check points they have hanging in their office right now.
It's just how you make money now. Make a whole facade and let people look at taht instead of your actual shit.
At this point, it isn't the game shoving feminism down my throat. It's the people who complain about it that "sort of" do it.
Huh, only one and two half Nazis. This guy must be new to the rational community.
whats with these fucking greasy nerds getting mad over women in their video games? grow up, they all just sound like a bunch of whiny losers. battlefield is a massive game, probably in the top 5 best sellers each time one comes out, you don't have any reason to complain as a guy because you've always been catered to, you can always play as a dude. chicks don't always wanna play as a dude, give them the option to play as a chick. on top of that some guys prefer playing as chicks in video games. there are studies on how players connect more with a game with an idealized avatar.
here is my stance on this issue i enjoy playing as women in video games this game allows me to play as a woman I see this as a good thing
i love how he claims there weren't any jets in WW2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Me_262
Reactionary twit has no idea what he's talking about. Some one, some where, is almost surprised.
Ah yes I've been catered to for decades with my WW2 games and being able to play as a male. The often underrepresented Female Fighting Forces have just been swept completely under the rug even though they were vital at D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. I'm really glad they're starting to get the representation they deserve.
> Lt. Colonel John Churchill. Where's THAT game DICE? I'd buy the fuck out of it.
You cant spend almost 2 years saying how you want to be as close as possible to source material, then flip the total opposite direction in the next game with the excuse of "being on the right side of history" without pissing off fans. The only reason female avatars are being pushed is for their cosmetics system that EA is going to probably bait the living fuck out of since they don't have premium passes or lootboxes, and for EA to get some good PR for "showing those misogynists what real representation is".
Speaking of that, apparently DICE is attempting to take a page from Tripwire's book. [ https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/3edc5e6b-7df4-4c26-88f2-d4f551867a42/vo_mp_comment_intense_battle.wav ]
I've been playing battlefield since battlefield 2, I just don't see the big deal especially after battlefield one. I imagine this goes down the same route of alternate history.
I'm not going to play it anyway. its just funny from the outside how people will outrageusly pull agendas to blast each other just "muh video gaem" features a gender choice.
My favorite part of this whole ordeal is how both sides of the spectrum seem to love to shut the optimal solution the fuck down under the reasoning of either 'lol its vidya gaymes bro lol chill bruh lol' or 'SJW cuck womyn ruin vidya!!!!!!!' Can we all just agree that the best presentation of groups is one that's contextually accurate and reasonable like normal sane people who give a shit about the setting used?
what is the optimal solution?
Having normal sane opinions doesn't get views though.
In my previous post where women are only an option in maps featuring resistance groups or Russia along with shoving other relevant groups into relevant maps i.e Wehrmacht Indians. A more 'extreme' solution would be to just give a flatout historical toggle option i.e War Thunder/World of Warships. You stroke the cocks of both parties and anyone who's still bitching about it can just be told to go through the bloody options or be educated about the relevant inclusion of the groups into their respective maps/battles.
Does BFV forces players to play as the female avatar, like fortnite does? or you can choose gender?
there's girls outside though
its player choice.
They'll let you customize your appearance, including gender, on release.
then the problem is that people doesnt want to play as females. nor see other players use female avatars because... it breaks the inmersion. even though they don't have to play as females, nor the female avatars have different hitboxes.
that's the crux of the entire conversation, yes
how much do you actually want yet another WWX game? how many simulators of a single war do you actually want to see get made? it blows my mind how anyone can find it in themselves to be upset at historical inaccuracy in such a genre of videogame
