Next thing im getting is a gletcher MP443 grach because I need a russian pistol that isnt a makarov
I'm gonna do something really stupid and convert my Umarex G36CV (which is actually ARES, apparently) into an MG36 Change my mind
I've been looking at that one, but doesn't it fire quite hot? I remember it firing above 420FPS, which is way too hot for my local fields, let alone for a sidearm.
Whereabouts is that if I may ask?
King Forest is the name of the field.
Does anyone have that video of the kid getting lit up by an automatic to the back? He falls over and then everyone starts looking at the shooter
This was all over a patch btw https://youtu.be/AR3T1nfi0H8
No matter how bad that was, it always makes me laugh.
It was full auto in the lower part of his back, he barely had any protection, he's under 18 and he was not prepared. Yeah that's going to hurt. I'm not sure where but I think I heard of US officers using high FPS airsoft guns in the past as less than lethal weapons. Not sure what the purpose was exactly.
Yea it is pretty hot but luckily it is just within the field limits for where I play at TAAGs. Limit there is I think 2J
I feel bad too, since the guy is a massive shithead for doing it, but the reaction from the crowd is like a perfectly timed comedy shot, they’re almost all in sync.
interesting, I think the limit here is 1J
Always found it weird that some countries have J limit instead of FPS. If there's a J limit you can still get wildly different results with BB weight right?
I'm trying to find an airsoft gun: PDW/PCC sized, took Glock magazines, might've had two magwells, kinda resembled the PDR, IIRC the only pictures of it were from some expo because it never made it to full scale production. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
It's out of production and the company/website just went down recently, but the Strafer MK4 was basically built as a less-than-lethal crowd control airsoft hose. Wayback Machine: X-Caliber Tactical
It's actually a lot more accurate to do it by J instead of FPS. A replica could shoot 360 FPS (The FPS limit in the Netherlands) with 0.20g BB's, which is 1.2 J. But that same replica might shoot 330 FPS with 0.30g BB's, which is about 1.52 J. A lot more energy. The idea behind an FPS limit isn't to limit the speed of a projectile, but to limit how hard it hits. Speed is a big contributor to that, but replica's with large cylinders for example can impart more energy on heavier BB's. For most replica's this isn't really that important, but there are some sniper rifles out there who get massive amounts of energy. They did a test a while back, and as a result of that we're switching to Joule limits instead of FPS. One of the tested bolt action sniper rifles shot a 0.20g BB at 495 FPS, 5 FPS below the bolt action limit. This is roughly 2.32 J. But when it shot 0.48g BB's, it shot 400 FPS. That's 3.56 J. A massive increase and more than twice the limit of semi-auto DMR's. Pretty crazy how the rules currently allow it, although mostly by a loop hole.
Turns out I was looking for the KWA KME 45: https://airsoftoutletnw.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/kwa_gbb_kme_45c_smg.jpg
Awesome informative post. So the NABV is switching to J? When's that going to happen and are the limits already known?
If I recall correctly they're switching in September. The limits will be the same as they are now with 0.20g BB's. 1.2 J for full auto, 1.88 J for DMR's and 2.32 J for bolt action sniper rifles and DMRs with a 2-second delay.
I just found it a second ago interestingly enough. Wasn't quite searching for it or anything. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1641/4b761efe-01ac-4397-85e9-ccc9ec47cadd/IMG-20180605-WA0001.jpg
I'd aim for 440 FPS with 0.20g BB's and then you'd be fine. That's also a lot more realistic than trying to shoot 455 FPS, since weather could influence the FPS slightly. If you get tested while it's 30 degrees celsius outside and your gun shoots 361, that's over the limit and you can't use it. It also leaves a lot more room for other upgrades. If you get a different piston, you might have better compression and shoot a bit faster. Generally most replica's are fine with this change though.
Does anyone know of any good Airsoft places around Leeds or West Yorkshire for a newbie?
Not from the UK, but this looks like a decent map. We've also got a few UK guys in the Discord if you want to ask there (link in the OP).
If anyone happens to be in Washington and you go to TAAGS im pretty much the only guy who brings a ghillie poncho every single game.
Does the LCT RPD really need to be $800? I can't imagine there's that much revolutionary technology inside that would warranted costing almost a grand at most places.
It isn't the technology that costs much, but more that they only made very few of them so they need high prices to offset the manufacturing costs.
Chicken and egg scenario but imo they'd sell more and/or be able to build more if it wasn't so pricey. It's gonna end up being just like the mac v sog version that came out eons ago where no one buys them because of the price and they fade into obscurity.
Price could be worse, could in the realm of G&G's MG42.
Here's a FP Airsoft map now using Google Maps instead of Zeemaps. Add yourself to it if you aren't on it already!
Where you at in Denmark, my dude?
