Airsoft Megathread XI - "MOST PAINFUL AIRSOFT GUN IN EXISTENCE!"

Northwestern Jutland, near Lemvig. The field itself was in Struer
Ah, that's pretty damn far from any field I know. I'm in Odense and we have a fairly healthy community here, but if you don't mind a bit of a trip, I could suggest the monthly events in Gudsø, at the fire department training area? Or even further, the ones at the abandoned theme park in Assens?
I am going to my first game today up at the Fort in Fife. Should be good.
So as a complete nub coming into airsoft, what are some brands I should pay attention to (Be that for pure quality, price-for-the-quality or zany weird stuff) and some I should stay away from? Looking through google results didn't really tell me much, and I'd rather not invest a bunch of money on gear if it then turns out to be junk.
For a starter, a Cyma 040, 042, 047 or 048 AK will do fine. I have an 040 and it's a very easy replica. I haven't had any problems with it yet for the past 1.5 years.
What kind of gun do you want? I can advise to start with a well known and popular replica. If something does go wrong with, there's plenty of documentation if you want to fix it yourself. You could also let an airsoft store fix it for you, and it's generally cheaper for popular replica.
A lot of sub $250 guns really hammer on their "FULL METAL CONSTRUCTION", but don't fall for it. Most are made from pot metal, not steel. That doesn't mean the replicas themselves are bad though. A good polymer replica will handle more abuse than a pot metal replica, but you're likely not going to drop either from the top of a building.
Cyma makes decent stuff, G&G, King Arms, Krytac and the big one Tokyo Marui are some good quality brands. TM (Tokyo Marui) is very popular, and I dont really think you can go wrong buying something like a GBB pistol from them.
Oh my god yes this. I have a CYMA CM (something, was in the $145 range) and the amount of shit that has broken due to shoddy pot metal is incredible. The trigger (like the actual metal bit not the contacts) and whatever that little lever next to the sights is have both snapped due to brittleness. A good bit of the plastic has snapped as well between the gearbox and the dust cover (also holy fuck stock wiggle).
Krytac is superior in my eyes. Love just buying the lower/upper reciever and then build everything yourself. Tokyo Mauri makes nice sidearms
I've seen Krytac suggested (by someone from the US so I get why) but seeing you're from Denmark normally that isn't a great idea, Evike doesn't ship them here and getting them from your local dealer is normally about twice as expensive. I've heard great things about Specna Arms and also the G&G CMs seems to be a popular newbie choice every time again. Probably for good reason.
I was mostly thinking in terms of holsters, masks and the like when talking gear - At this point, I've only gone airsofting once, so what specific gun or 'class' (DMR, AR, SMG etc) isn't something I've thought much of yet.
In terms of specific guns, I've always been a sucker for the look of the G36 and SCAR rifles, as well as the MP7 - So if I get to a point where I'll be investing properly into it, those are likely what I'll be looking to get
Normally people start with either an M4 or AK because pretty much anyone around you knows how to fix any problem, they're highly moddable and anything you need for them are readily available. Though I'm pretty sure the G36 is a close follow up.
Whatever gear you use is very dependent on what you want to wear. A holster is only useful if you have a pistol, which is optional anyway. If you do get one, it's advisable to put it directly on your belt or vest. Drop leg holsters are annoying. Plate carriers are cool, but they restrict movement slightly. A MOLLE vest is nice. Just like a plate carrier, it allows you to place pouches wherever you want, but it is a lot easier wear. It also breathes a lot better, so it's nicer in the summer. The nicest to wear is a load bearing vest/harness, like a Smersh. I only have experience with Smersh, so I can't say anything about other LBV's. It places the pouches on your hips, along the sides. This makes it very easy to wear, even while you're lying on the ground. It takes slightly longer to reload, but comfort is worth a lot.
As for uniforms, that also depends on what you want. Personally, I have a Gorka and a Partizan. The Gorka is comfortable and very sturdy, but it gets quite hot in the summer. The Partizan is a lot lighter and somewhat flimsy, but it's comfortable even in extreme heat.
I would recommend to start with a regular assault rifle. You really want something that shoots fully automatic. Novritsch and other clickbaiting sniper youtubers try to convince a lot of people to start with sniper rifles. That's a terrible way to start and you likely won't have a lot of fun. Maintaining a good sniper rifle isn't something for starters, and playing with them is very passive. You only engage at longer ranges, but the most fun IMO is within 20 meters. SMG's and assault rifles are pretty much the same in airsoft, they all fire the same caliber. Barrel length is more important, but even that isn't really important
JPC vests are great for mobility and aren't that expensive. Just put the biggest MOLLE attachments higher so it's easier to prone.
I bought all my vest and kit off of Grey Shop, I used it for real guns then brought it across to the UK to do all my airsoft. It's really well made and the prices weren't to bad.
If you don't mind getting a bit of a beater, I'm considering selling my G36K some time soon. You on the FPair discord?

Get an obrez
PP-19 but its by "apex" (probably a rebrand) but also much cheaper @145 instead of 215 for the shs one.
still no mags tho
I've got an APEX M4, it's a company that uses the same production factory as Classic Army so the quality is very similar. Not bad, but not on par with VFC, old G&P, etc.
So I've been to an airsoft match this last Sunday on a woodland site in south-east London. Few notable things from that day:
Someone accidentally stuck their hand in a wasp nest and ended up being stuck to fuck, luckily he did not have an allergic reaction and was okay to continue playing
The woods nearly caught on fire twice due to smoke grenades being chucked about
I got shot in the back from 5 meters away with a heavy BB, spend my walk back to spawn limping in pain
My hire gun had an iron sight in the rear, but none in the front..? I had to use it more like an LMG than an assault rifle
There was a large lad who ran around topless with a kilt and boots, blue face paint, shotgun strapped to his back and a plastic longsword, charging at his foes yelling FRRREEDDOOOOMM
10/10 would play again
I was bored on a recent game so I was shooting myself on a self timer in trenches lol

Wait... those t72's actually drive around?
It's Russian airsoft, they probably got jets as well
to think they've got actual t-72s lumbering around with bmps and shit
and here in good ol illinois the most we can muster up is a plywood box made to vaguely resemble an mlrs
it's crewed though so there's that, just get 3 others to get in and lift it up and you've got a (more or less) functional box apc
until it got flattened, actually.

This EBB bastard cost me over $700 Canadian dollarydoos. Worth every penny.
I'm a weirdo I guess, this is my 11th airsoft gun and yet I've only been to one match as a rando when I bought my first gun around 4-5 years ago, a refurbished S&T STG44.
So apart from the MP40 and STG44 I've got a:
G&G K98
A.P.S. AUG Carbine LE Model
G&G C7A1
KWC M712
KWC Luger P08
KWC Mini UZI
WE M9 Sword Cutlass
Skeleton Sidearms SS357 Magnum 8S
I also have a WE Browning Hi-Power but it's a piece of shit. It refuses to cycle consistently unless I hold it upside down and it's been like that since it came out the box. Wish I knew what was wrong with it.
Here's a pic of everything else:

My WE M9 Cutlass is damn amazing. Works flawlessly. I've been eyeing a WE GBB M16A1 for awhile but I've been on the fence due to the hit and miss quality of their products.
My G&G k98 is a bit disappointing considering what I fucking paid for it. It's made of soft metal and within like 15 minutes the safety was almost completely broken. The problem is that you can still pull the trigger with he safety on which unlike on the real gun, still fires it instead of disengaging the trigger. This causes the safety to get jammed while engaged making it had as hell to unjam it and as you can guess because of the soft metal it chews the damn thing up unjamming it.
I think that's more a problem with niche airsoft guns rather than G&G. They make quality products, but they've also got pretty much the only functional K98 on the market. So there's no real standard for it.
DBOY's and PPS make k98's. DBOY's make a couple varians, even shell ejecting model, and from what I understand PPS is generally high quality.
I get what you're saying but I paid out the ass for it so I would expect it to not have basic issues with the safety and be made from sturdier metal and not develop problems within a day of extremely casual use.
That's awesome.
