It is very cool
Quite frankly, I second this motion. After seeing Hezzy's response in PD to "just not reply" to troll threads I've given up any hope of Hezzy being able to effectively manage a lead a community.
so are we just letting tudd's new alt stay around or what
He's like an anime villain that just keeps coming back every episode.
Rip Pascall
It's okay I'm still here!
Would also like to know if evading permabans by making alts is now allowed
man all the good mods either get killed off or get relegated as support characters
If it is then it kinda completely defeats the purpose of having rules in the first place.
The general direction seems to be to have as few rules as possible. I've reported two posts for outright flaming and nothing has happened to them. I'm going to guess the answer is yes.
Is there a list of current mods anywhere?
The "Community Team" role in the FP Discord is the closest you'll get to a proper list of moderators as far as I know
Why and when did this happen?
I just got an offer for full time employment locally (just signed the offer letter today) and coupling that with my small side gig that I do for extra dollary-doos, I won't have as much time to do any moderating. I just wanna make sure I'm prioritizing the right things in my personal life is all lol. But I'll still be bouncing around from time to time.
It's not like there's really anything left to moderate, besides the occasional spambot.
Polidicks is such a shitfest after the recent changes.
rip best mod
Congrats.
Considering the effort you've put into helping peeps both in moderation terms and in the social threads (I'm sure I'm missing some other aspect), this is warm news. Don't know of anyone who didn't appreciate your time in advising them in a variety of issues. Thought I'd at least mention that as I didn't feel a rating sufficed. Enjoy!
Rip best mod
not defending Hezzy I’m sure he can speak for himself but it isn’t that easy.
managing a sizable community isn't easy, not repeating the same mistake 30 times should be
Dai was best mod by far.
did he Dai already?
afaik as long as you waited long enough and actually were a better user on the new alt, it was never really enforced
It honestly depends on what warranted the permaban. A lot of folks who were perma'd in the past were done so under the old rules, so for the most part they've been able to make a new account and continue posting so long as they're conforming to the new rules. As for folks perma'd under the new rules so long as it's concrete that its an alt it's permaban, as what gets you permabanned under the new rules generally means there was something illegal or serious along with it. As for a particular user who is believed to be another user, if we have enough evidence on our end we can ban. If there is not enough evidence but you have some concrete evidence beyond posting style and content feel free to dm it to a mod on discord.
the fact that everyone knows the user you're talking about isn't enough? it's the second alt he's created as well iirc. on my post last page he even rated me sympathy, and i didn't mention the new account's name
We've always required more than just a "know its so and so" before banning an alt. We cross check things like IP's, post locations, emails used, etc before we go and ban someone for using an alt. As stated, if we that kind of stuff lined up we'd make a ban. If you've got some more concrete information such as a confession in a steam chat or something by all means send it to us, but we're not going to ban someone for using an alt unless its indisputable. I think people appreciate not being banned due to suspect.
There’s been a one or two fuck ups before even with doing such checks. It really pays to have concrete evidence otherwise it’s like trying to find Trogdon and all of his alts and you accidentally ban someone who just happens to be in his IP range but isn’t actually him.
If I was stubborn and avoidant I wouldn't waste hours of my day arguing the toss with people on the internet, I'd just ban them and tell them to move on with their lives.
