I think the fact that he started posting threads right away with almost no posts partaking in any discussion were already a dead giveaway that it's an alt. Of whom was the main question. It's good that you were able to determine it for certain though.

Like, I know we're all flawed, imperfect human beings and you don't need to act like a robot to be a good community manager but in that role shouldn't you strive to be professional and diplomatic so you don't risk antagonizing the community? Even if you don't deserve the flak in some cases.

It's mostly pain relief if there is actually any money being transferred. If he was being paid a living wage to moderate these forums, he wouldn't be working as a cop while doing it.

As I said I think it's better that we do get definitive evidence rather than just ban on a hunch. You already know the answer to this, but I'll elaborate anyway. As many of you already know the rules are quite a bit more laxed, and Garry has instructed us not to ban people for a vast majority of things once bannable. For the most part really the only things that people are banned for involves something illegal or very serious ie. Doxing a fellow user, posting warez, etc. However, there are always exceptions to that rule and rather than codefy every single possible exception into some solid rules that are inflexible, and thus easy to tout the line on, we are given the discretion to handle things on a case by case basis. With that we reserve the right to maintain a permaban and by extension the alts of permabanned users based on a case by case basis. Peope get perma'd for a reason, and that generally means we don't want them here. Like I said though, it's handled case by case, with members such as smurfy being allowed to return from his toxx. I'm sure some of you can probably some up with "but so and so is back, why isn't he banned" or something along those lines. There are thousands of people on this forum, and we can't sift through every single account cross referencing every ip/email/steamid etc. For all I know there is 100 previously permabanned users posting on new accounts. As far as I'm concerned if they're staying within the bounds of what's allowed under the current ruleset I don't have a problem with it, though if one is found to have been perma'd previously for a particularly peculiar reason you can be sure one of us would ban.

Honestly PD and SH are a lot more interesting with the changes. Not having a self righteous moderator touting conspiracy theories as fact and banning anyone who disagrees with him makes it a much better place.

Here, the problem wasnt so much with the fact that FP is basically more or less a left leaning forum, it's the fact that most people on facepunch who espoused right leaning views, as far as i've seen, save for a few exceptions, all espoused insane shit like mining borders because "blasted corpses make good scarecrows", supported the deportation of nonviolent individuals, were ok with shit like torture, racism, homophobia, and gay conversion therapy, and were generally sociopathic too in a handful of cases. I can't argue with people like that in good faith, even though believe me, I fucking tried. In the cases they didnt, they kept spouting shit that wasn't anywhere within the realm of actual reality as most sane people understand it, like shitty talking points from the likes of alex "chemtrails make people gay" jones, and milo "kill the journalists" yiannopoulos, and a number of conspiracy theorists posting inane bullshit on youtube that falls apart under the slightest examination. The few times I was able to engage in good debate with fellows holding right-leaning views, I enjoyed it enough that I'd do it again in a heartbeat with them.

The issue is more that anyone with a dissenting opinion gets dog piled on so rapidly it gets to be impossible to hold an actual discussion. Its not just right wing opinions, its everything. If theres a hot button issue and you present a contrary view, it will be almost completely impossible to maintain a conversation with 45 people at once. And thats fine, thats how the internet works and FP is not different than anywhere else in that regard. But what sucked was BDA's bigoted views on modern politics. It kinda sucked going into a thread and having him make the 2nd or 3rd post describing why all people in x group are nazis/fascists/bigots/racists/ect. So if you walked in with dissenting opinion BDA&Friends would shit on you for the entire discussion. God forbid you questioned the status quo. People here with right wing views tend to keep their views to themselves lest they have their name changed or get harassed in every thread they go to. And thats fine I guess because the internet is left leaning and this forum is no different, but having a moderator who would sanction the dog piles sucked

No, anytime there would be a modicum of information incriminating Trump BDA would take it and run with it and start filling in the gaps and presenting it as fact. If you questioned his logic or the conspiracy theories, you got shit on.

I'm fairly certain that you'll find blizzox and blizzerd are posting from the same country. I don't recall blizzerd's country for certain off the top of my head since he got permabanned awhile back but it was eastern Europe and I'm fairly certain it was one of the countries that starts with B, blizzox is posting from Belgium. (Fake edit: I remembered search no longer sucks so I went and looked for a post by blizzerd and it is Belgium.) On top of that blizzox doesn't simply argue the same points in the same manner as blizzerd but seems to have the same quirks in grammar as well. And the username choice is about as transparent as Tudd's was. I can't say with absolute certainty that it is indeed blizzerd but it seems incredibly likely. You're probably in a better position to come to a proper conclusion on that though since you can cross reference ips (if old ips are still accessible at least) and emails and such.

Everyone knew he was Tudd since his first post. I'm surprised he wasn't banned on the spot.

I'm not going to defend BDA other than requesting a citation on him "banning anyone who disagrees with him" but I don't really know what you want. Maybe when Trump stops doing awful shit people will stop criticizing him? You seemed pretty adamant in that one thread to explain why Disney and Adult Swim should absolutely fire Gunn and Harmon over years-old jokes, maybe if you can't see yourself investing that much energy into defending Trump it may just be that he is indefensible? You completely missed my point bud. My point was that under the old rules and under BDAs moderation, PD was a lame, bigoted, hateful, circle jerk over Trump. Every thread turned into a dick measuring contest over who was more disgusted with Trump. At that point why even have a forum if theres never going to be an substantial debate or conversation? I never asked for people not to criticize Trump, just questioning the point of old PD when every thread was "Trump is bad today" and every post was "I agree!". The thing you did in your second paragraph is the kind of thing why PD used to suck, and still does. Because I'm not in favor of bigotry, acting like a petulant child, and wanting to hatefuck Trump, I'm a Trump supporter and an enemy. I dont even know who you are but youre dragging disagreements we've had in the past to new threads for some reason. How is criticizing Donald Trump bigoted and hateful? What rules have changed? I was just under the assumption you meant the relaxing of of the thread creation guidelines which let more stories break up the ones about Trump. You say you never asked for people not to criticize Trump but that's kind of how it's coming across. I don't know what else you mean by dogpile. I never said you were a Trump supporter. I never so much as implied it. What I was trying to get at and what I guess I should have made more clear was that if you can't think of any reasons why Trump should be defended by other posters, that maybe explains why the conversation is so one-sided.

It's sometimes considered rude to discuss things politics or religion in social setting. It is for similar reasons as to why that sort of dogpiling is usually inevitable in these political discussions here. This is due to how controversial these topics can be, and how different beliefs in these areas can easily make someone angry. Often these beliefs are very important to the people that hold them. A devoutly religious person will become upset if they feel their religion is insulted. A person who seems support for a law or politician that they think is against them (or their principles) may become angry.
