It doesn't help that the event log is not only less descriptive than before but also more out of the way. For whatever reason it's under a dropdown despite being the only thing under said dropdown. It's really easy to overlook because of that. Recent stuff is less granular (it used to have "recent" for less than hour or so ago then hours for everything up to 23 hours), there's no duration information for bans, there's no distinction between bans and permabans with the ban icon being the old permaban one, and names like code_gs' containing emoji like that really doesn't help honestly. Also a personal gripe with it was "because _______" instead of "for the reason '______'" which feels like rather bad grammar considering how rarely it lines up with the actual reason given.

I don't report because I still have no clear answer about what we can and cannot report.

This talk is idealistic and all, but it doesn't work. Deal with the forums as they exist, not as you'd like them to. Yeah, if people were like this, it'd be great! You'd have to do nothing at all! They aren't, you aren't either. You should've been mature enough not to lose your temper and close multiple forums discussions, you should be experienced enough not to needlessly antagonize the community every 5 pages. If you want to do nothing, go for it, keep hoping people will follow an ideal you can't stick to for even a month. OR, recognize that if a community of thousands is to thrive, and be on board with where things are headed, they need a bit more direction, and a less passive-aggressive attitude than "the trolls I won't deal with, it's everyone else who deserves being reprimanded"

We know it's fucked. If this is all you know on the matter, it's fair to say that there's been no extra effort to debug the problem. While not your fault, it's actually quite infuriating that it's just been left in this state for way too long

You would think that. But people have been told conflicting things, and until recently, no one had made an effort to say otherwise. The problem is that this has been done on an individual level, like your post here, and not broadcasted to the masses. So it's not spreading as it should.

I've spoke on this subject multiple times in this thread series. Just report stuff, worst thing that'll happen is nothing.

I believe Hezzy already discussed this but iirc the plan was to have a global announcement system. I just can't remember if that was a confirmed feature or not. It would really help out with this "he said, she said, nobody said" nonsense.

If that ever worked, forums since time immemorial wouldn't have rules universally marking trolling as punishable tbh.

There were moderators (albeit far less of them back then) even in the days of Usenet - the primordial soup from which all internet forums spawned.

Yeah I really don't like how Hezzy has approached this whole change in rules. We try telling him why the rules change won't work and he keeps saying otherwise. Lo and behold, the rule changes don't work out, we come and complain to Hezzy, and basically get told this is our problem and we need to grow up as a community or whatever. That's not how it works. Every single forum ever has a concrete set of rules, I honestly do not get this approach.

I don't have a problem with banning trolls and shitposter but the current rules don't allow for that

The image wasn't even about Hezzy, it's a meme and was referring to the rules. Worst ban I've seen in a while.

Another example of something I don't understand. The post 2 above lavalamp complains about someone and calls them a dumbass. He didn't get band.

Is there any chance we could get numbers on the daily active users in certain section/forums over time? It feels like the site is dying in some areas but it's really difficult to actually tell how bad it actually is (or isn't) and I'm curious.

I guess the "and basically you're fucking stupid" could be taken as flaming. If it wasn't already an established part of the meme, it definitely would be. Some of these users are even what I'd call "pretty sensitive", often taking things very personally, but apparently being an asshole to other people online is just great when you're not on the receiving end, apparently. Personally I find it pretty shameful - Hezzy has been here for 13 years, ran the place for a long time with no pay; even if you think his handling of this situation is bad, that's no way to treat the guy.

I don't think people understand that you can only fuck with the dick you got. Garry has to give Hezzy dick surgery and other tools to allow him to fuck more. Hezzy is trying to satisfy a fourm full of horny users with only his dick and the pocket vibe Garry gave him after taking away the dragon dildos all the mods used to have, all after cock teasing everyone with a new fourm before leaving it unfinished. But yeah, let's blame Hezzy for he is the all powerful community manager who is bound to the rules set before him.
