As far as I can tell it's one of three things that causes it: One more post is needed to trigger a new page, a mod deletes a post or posts, or someone deletes their own account or gets nuked (thus deleting posts)

well the intent there wasn't to throw insults or anything, it was merely a dumb drive-by zinger but thinking about the random crit discussion and how that went down, it left an impression that you have a habit of answering every question with a question of your own and it turned a discussion impossible when all you have is a mountain of questions and little actual substance from what I've seen tho, you've seemed to have steered away from this constant badgering and that's nice, makes it more nice to read your posts

I mean people predicted this hours after the new rules were posted.

Do we still ban "gore" videos? Does a video of a police shooting count? Can they be posted?

Eh, let's just revert the rules to what they were already. This change isn't really doing naything in the practical sense other than confusing people.

Why are we discussing this in a forum that was in its best times when we banned people for making too many spelling mistakes. There is nothing to discuss here, since there is no rules for the users there is also no rules for the mods and they have more space to ban people for being fucking idiots.

How bad was the smartness thing if it got garry banned?

I think what I was talking in that post was about how the flaming rules are enforced. I think that despite the change in the wording of the rules, the enforcement of flaming bans seems to be the similar. The apparent inconsistencies with the flaming, may be due to something else. The thing about "treat others how you want to be treated", is that the person writing them assumed that users would interpret it correctly. I don't know if anybody has actually misinterpreted it yet, but it's more likely to happen than with clearer statements.

Ideas like smartness could work. Trying to enforce good spelling and grammar practices is doable. But it is probably best if the bans are not handled by some basic word filter, we would need someone else to deal with it. I nominate myself.
