shows how smart the playerbase really is
Good.
smartness returns and suddenly i disappear
I was just joking.
Kiwi does need to phrase his/her posts better though.
Shit hap-
Dick.
What happened to gary_spivey?
This forum can often be uninviting to new members. The new rules have made it somewhat easier on them, as "that cat" type stuff won't get you banned.
However the attitudes of other users is also part of that issue.
smartness was fun lol, i definitely wouldn't welcome it back, but still, bringing it up has invoked some nostaglia for those days
we should bring it back as some opt-in system that attaches a smartness score to your post that just generates extra coins instead of having any negative consequences. then you'd see all those rust kiddies and newcomers to the forum who actually care about having coins adopt the smartness system and boom, post quality superficially goes up.
This reminded me of something else:
LMAO Pics v
What did this guy get the (sort of) ban for?
Chronic lack of humour, it was killing the LMAO vibe.
I'm sure that's not a super serious (sort of) ban anyway. Probably blow over in a few weeks when everyone gets over his terrible streak of pure not-funny.
Toxx, giving you 100 coins if this gets added tbh, because it should be.
If that is the reason, then that seems like one of thing that isn't against the rules.
Posting without "effort", or any other subjective shit like "shitposting"
Yeah, if we're getting serious about enforcing the rules I'm sure that ban wouldn't be applicable. I think it was just for the laughs more than anything else. Again, I'm sure if he starts posting again after a few days no one would even notice and I doubt Hezzy would actually care.
He wasn't even shitposting or posting without effort, he was just sort of postin' unfunny stuff. No offense to him intended though, because it led to one of the funniest moments in recent LMAO picture history.
I'm pretty sure that "Stop posting in this thread bans" were enforced, at least at one point.
As someone growing up learning english through the internet, the smartness system helped me find a lot of grammatical errors.
Now with all these auto spellchecks and auto words on phones, i might be getting dumber
How many mods do we even have aymore, by the way? I've only seen 3 active in weeks.
A lot of them are probably in the no-go zones such as the Rust and GMod section
Pascall is no longer a mod
it's not like it's hard to see the event list or something

It was a post shit enough to be worth banning for. Mod discretion applies
(I'm not really going to talk about polidicks in regards to this.)
One example of this "uninviting-nes" would be LMAO pics. If you post the wrong type of funny content in LMAO pics, people will get pissed at you. The thing to remember is humor is subjective, not everyone will share the same idea. Which is why some new posters may post decades old content, or stuff that people think has been "run into the ground" (dat boi, ugandan knuckles, and so on).
This occuring in LMAO pics, is why I guess that something other than strong feelings on a subject is causing this. I don't think people have such strong feelings on that content.
A possible example could be the TF2 subforum. If a new user shows up, there is a significant chance that they will be accused of being me.
That's b/c you're a fuckin goober.
i mean, the same shit goes irl
if you do something unfunny and straight-up cringeworthy in front of a group, nobody will want you there anymore and for you to stop
This seems to me like it is against the spirit or/and letter of what the rule says.
Posting without "effort", or any other subjective shit like "shitposting"
"A Shitpost that is shitty enough to be worth banning for" is going to be a subjective thing.
The thing is that unfunny and cringeworthy is subjective. Some people would find the stuff in LMAO pics to be unfunny or cringeworthy.
One example
There is a LMAO pics in joke called "Isn't that the same thing as Transnigger". A lot of people would find that more cringe worthy and in bad taste than "dat boi", but people in LMAO pics would find the former thing much funnier.
afaik it's not the joke itself that people find funny, it's the pic with all the posts reacting to it
once again, context matters
No, people found his joke funny too. Not just the reactions.
See "The Rifleman"s post in this image for reference.

Well, here is a bit of an update. This guy got banned for a shit report: Discord to launch a gaming store
So flaming is bannable again? I just saw two or three flaming bans.
No, that's not true. It is not my fault. It is due to (the online version of) "mass hysteria" or "moral panic".
