Pan-dimensional brain: writing a content scraper bot that aggregates threads and sends you a "popular threads" feed via RSS
Refugee camp was great reads.
I liked the people who copy pasted their rust server ads in there after having just been banned for it.
I miss the small oldpunch editline from automerged posts. it was more obvious indicator of several posts being squeezed into one than a simple "edited". it conveyed emotions ive never felt again since, and I could hide nasty comments in it too as a bonus. can we have it back?
Windows 10/chrome, ublock origin, privacy badger and httpseverywhere are the extensions i use. Its very easily noticeable. I wonder if its because one of the plugins disables preloading or something similar
I would have rated you with a Disagree, but I didn't have the coins to buy the rating so instead I will make this post to tell you that I do indeed disagree with you.
easy way to sniff out who's POOR
PC Building V3 This thread is broken for me. I click on the last page (27), but it takes me back to the first.
Are all fonts suddenly bold for anyone else, or is my Chrome broken?
@Hezzy If the plans are having child threads. Does it still make sense to have 1k post limits on the master? What will happen to the children when the number of posts on the master are reached? At the current state, the thread will sink and take all the children with it
Yeah, this ghost page bug has been around for a while. I made a bug report on the same thing: Quote Reply Notifications Don't Link to the Actual Post Kinda in the same boat as the vibrating Twitter embeds bug, nothing has been done to fix it afaik.
As nature intended
Was this covered or did I miss it? How do I check my old posts?
havent been paying attention to meta so i know this has been asked before, but what happened to receiving notifications when your posts have been rated?
garry just removed that feature in the last update or two. no idea if we'll see it back again or not, a toggleable option would be neat.
i used to like the rating notification but now I'm glad it is gone because it was so needlessly distracting tbh
Yeah, could even be off by default to save on resources.
I don't like this type of quote
I can barely tell when it's a quote or when it's part of the post The font color is too light (as is the one for "days ago", "viewed" and "replies" on threads, I think it's the same one) plus it should have a background color of some sort, like this: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/172/2155cb28-9d27-4181-8983-c7a9703beb9f/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/172/268ae0d4-7e30-4779-9767-710bacaf8665/image.png IMO this looks kinda ugly, but I'd take it over what we have now (getting regular quotes like they used to be would be best, but I doubt that'd happen)
I dont mind the functionality in general, but I'm kind of expecting the return of the classic-style quote boxes that you could insert over anything. I really liked that system, especially for quoting articles or breaking up a long post.
Does this work? I remember not getting everyone's complaints for WYSIWYG before the move to newpunch but now I understand completely. Editing and quoting different or multiple posts was so much easier before
There's a thread/few posts when I discussed this already with garry. Can't for the life of me find it
I'd rather not speculate about the consequences of features that aren't 100% confirmed as being a thing just yet But if we were to do what I've explained there'd be no point of a 1k autolock in fact it would be detrimental Click on your name, then click on the number of posts on the left. Pre-2009 you may struggle as I don't think we have the database from back then I appreciate the thought and effort you've put into this post, I apologise if my response is brief because I'm waiting for food to arrive I think once things settle down people will start to form habits and get comfortable in how the new processes / flows work. At the moment things are changed on a monthly basis which I think people are struggling with. I'd expect a few more months of upheaval before a sense of normality is restored. I like your point about interaction based notifications, I got a lot of good feedback about my posts when rating notifications were a thing and it made me quite happy, allowed for more opportunities of interaction. I'm not really one to go back and read my ratings but this got me caring a bit more about it. The best approach (in my eyes) is to offer what the community wants but try to think of different ways to bring content to them. This is what my forking idea tries to deliver. I'd prefer just to have the quote button put a normal quote box (like the one above this line) around the text you've selected
Awfully White emulates the old style quotes when using that kind. It's a rather hacky solution though and there's some edge cases where the bottom border doesn't show up. The new forums' post editor solution is really quite underwhelming even ignoring the fact it's a shitty WYSIWYG editor.
I haven't really got hard confirmation of this, but I think that some posts from oldpunch may be missing from the database.
