Because HL:S is shit, and depending how its done, it could easily be ported over to source.
og's always the best.
I thought I read the title wrong. But no. It's real. The more I watch the more amaze and impressed I become.
What the hell? I didn't even mention half life source. I said why is he using the WON version and not the steam version?
Hello, my friend Slarty pointed out this forum thread and I decided it was time to remake my Facepunch account.
I think I should probably answer some questions I guess.
To all the MANY questions of "why?"
to get famous. Because I can. I was bored. Spyro is a cool series.
Will there be multiplayer?
possibly, I need to try it out once I finish the rest of the mod for the first release.
Is this on WON Half-Life?
Nope, it's currently running under Xash3D. Steam version is planned.
Spyro gibs? YOU MONSTER!
It can be disabled for those who don't want to see their cute boi get blown up.
I'll probably stick around for people who are interested, and will answer any questions or whatever you may have. Thank you OP for the share!
How far do you plan to go with this mod? Specifically, are you planning to incorporate powerups like flying, fireball, supercharge, and spitting out bombs?
I actually found this because google chrome for android recommended a PC Gamer article about Epistle 3, which linked to another PC Gamer article about your mod.
So, thanks PC Gamer for being useful for once?
I plan to get all the base mechanics in, charging, gliding, swimming, climbing, head bash, and flame breath. This will all be done for the first release.
As far as the powerups go, I will have to see what all can be done. I imagine everything is possible, and I will most likely give all those a shot at some point since this is a tool kit of sorts.
The supercharge might be the only one that will give me some trouble due to how the engine starts to throw a fit when you travel too fast.
I was surprised how they just slapped on the article for my mod into the Epistle 3 one. Guess because it was all done the same day. Still cool of you to share it around though!
I feel like the hardest thing to emulate from the original spyro would be the camera movement, especially with the swimming, as it kinda twists and turns between different movements, something I haven't seen the engine do, but damn you have done a real good job with it.
If you do end up doing multiplayer, any plans for getting NPCs working?
I'm talking bare minimum so people can make coop maps if they want to
Looking forward to the Crash Bandicoot version where all the Kleiners are replaced with the lab assistants.

Yea, I'm working on the swimming currently and it requires a complete redo on how the player usually interacts with it.
As soon as I can get the last of the mechanics in and working. Hoping before the end of the year or sooner, but you never know if anything will pop up.
I'm not sure yet as it will depend on multiplayer working first, but it's a idea worth trying.
As of now I'm just getting Spyro into Half-Life. After that I'm going to go full toolkit on the mod putting in sparx, fodder, npc related stuff, essentially everything needed to make your own game out of it. I myself plan on making a game out of this at some point.
Make a TFC mod without Spy or Pyro, but with Spyro.
I'm sure you're a bigger expert than I am, but something seems off about the current running animation. It might just be the camera, I'm not sure.
It seems off because Spyro's a four-legged creature, and his running animation in the video is weird, because both his front legs move at the same time, back and forth, as with his hind legs. The legs should be more out of sync with eachother like when you see a horse run.
The run animation is still pretty symetrical which can look off from certain angles. I've still been working on touching it up to be a bit more like the original game with some asymmetrical movement.
@magic_nipples So is your HL1 alpha/beta mods still active like Absolute Zero, SHAFT or Preliminary?
And most importantly, how can we be certain of the so-called magic status of your nipples? Have you had a verifiable third party provide confirmed measurements? Do these output levels apply to both teats?
But, Magic Nipples has no involvment with Half-Life: Absolute Zero and neither does his team? 🤔
Citation: I am project lead of HLAZ.
I'm guessing his team or his only HL1 beta/alpha mods is still working on or put on hold?
I don't know if it was asked but I was gonna ask more specifically, why do it in Half-Life instead of doing it from the ground up in Unity or as another game's mod? I'm just curious as to what drove you to choose the GoldSrc/Source engine over the many others when you started working on it
Because then it wouldn't be Spyro in Half-Life?
The regular modern Steam Half-Life still runs on goldsource, WON just happens to be completely unpatched since like 2001
Now let's get Gordan Freeman into a Spyro game.
You know the Source port is that shit when people forget it exists.
Absolutely nobody mentioned the Source port except you, though. Nobody was talking about it.
Imagine the fun involved in animating for PS1 when bone rig systems weren't a standard in real-time graphics
I said in my Mod DB article I've wanted to make a Spyro fan game. I've had the idea in the back of my head since replaying the series back in like 2007 or 2008.
I looked at Unreal 4 and Unity but I know way more about Half-Life and Goldsrc than I do learning a whole new engine. I also wanted the old ps1 look and I think a engine from the time will look the best in that department. It all comes down to that I just do not care enough to learn a whole new engine for what isn't even a original game idea anyways, so might as well do it in a engine I know. As far are a 3rd person camera "not being suited" for the engine, well that's only because Valve never full developed the camera perspective anyways. With enough work it can be as good as any other.
Googles for a third party that measures the magical powers of nipples. You're probably going to just have to take my word for it.
