To have a more nuanced take on the hoops he has to jump through. So far we have 2D corp villain, 2D anithesis antagonist, down to being a cop, and 2D reasoning by the antihero to be an antihero or hero at all.
It just reeks of made by committee.
What exactly do you mean but "2D reasoning by the antihero to be an antihero or hero at all."
Also what cop? Theres a cop character?
This looks fucking terrible and I hope it bombs.
Get Venom in the MCU and let Disney fully have Spider-Man you fucking haaaaaaaaaaaacks
Looks fine to me.
Also its going to be R-rated and i dont think the MCU would, even with the interest in R-Rated future projects, ever do an R-Rated Spider-Man property.
Since the cartoon I've always wondered how is Venom's maw so wide if he's just a layer over a human
I always kinda assumed that the Symbiote plays a little optical illusion there; Piling more of itself atop Brock's face to create a long enough jawline to pull off the extended mouth, while still having enough space behind a false throat (which it wouldn't need to be functional anyway since it's a blob creature) to hide Eddie's entire head. Similar to how it also tends to beef him up to ludicrous proportions, it's a damn good intimidation tactic
Of course, that only works for very specific takes like these

While the likes of these remain firmly in the world of witchcraft and wizardry
I always assumed it fused with his cells and just changed his shape as well
this would also explain how he's able to "project" symbiote appendages while not being fully Venom-ed
I always liked the PS1 type of Venom where he inexplicably becomes 14 feet tall.
Thats a good explanation for the head being hidden.
There's a scene in the trailer where Riot rips Venom's face back to reveal Eddie's, and another where they're both torn open and their hosts are visible in the torso region. Maybe the human bodies are always inside but move around in the goo, so when Venom's throat is visible Eddie's head is actually lower inside his body.
I think there was a comic where someone describes getting Venom'd and the symbiote more or less dislocated every joint in their body to stretch them out, but its inconsistent.
Looks decent to me so far tbh, like most other superhero movies, with a little bit of a darker twist. Hardy's accent is really grating and weird though.
Don't know why people are reacting to your post the way they are. if this succeeds, Sony's going to be crapping out a bunch of other spinoffs based on Spiderman characters, and is also probably going to yank Tom Holland's Spidey out of the MCU and plop him right into their new shit continuity. Does anyone really want that?
Yeah, strong chance that's a contract Sony wouldn't risk breaking because Disney would have the Sony senior staff practically executed for it. They'd be eaten alive in court.
Are you not aware that the contract was only for 5 movies? Once Avengers 4 and Spiderman: Far from Home are out, there is no mandate that Sony has to continue doing business with Disney..
This seriously looks like Prototype the movie
While Amy Pascal has hinted at that, they’d have to be massively stupid to do that (which, judging by their track record, they probably are). Think about it, they’re reaping all the movie profits and they don’t have to put up a dime. Disney’s letting it slide since they have the merchandise rights (which are far more profitable than a movie) and they get to use Spider-Man all they want.
Its a profitable relationship, and only the idiots at Sony want to fuck it up.
Not enough building scaling and throwing ragdoll bodies off the top of towers.
