hate to break it to you. But so far it seems that Ethan usually brings in the regular SJW bashers, "Enlightened Philosophers" like Jordan peterson and other twats, and a bunch of others who usually spew bullshit laced with alt-right ideologies. And usually avoids putting people on who are on the other side of the political spectrum out of fear that it'll anger his "SJW-bashing" audience. Worse is how he's a clueless, untalented, and impressionable fuckwit who will agree with anything told to him without a moment of questioning their opinion. So the whole idea of "You're just mad that he doesn't pick people that you agree with" is bullshit cause he's putting people on that only align with his views and his "SJW-Bashing" audience. Nobody would really give a flying fuck of who's on his show, the problem that people have with him is that the people he constantly brings on are usually dishonest, incorrect, or spewing pseudo-science bullshit. And worse is that his audience is also a bunch of impressionable dipshits like him who will blindly accept whatever the fuck Ethan says or whatever the current guest says with literally no thought put into checking what the hell their saying is either incorrect or bullshit.
While not unique to the extreme right wing and probably just extreme ignorance on his part his messed up discussion of the bombing of Dresden on podcast #7 where he spread literal Neo-Nazi propaganda about the deathcount and it being bombed after the surrender and it being purely a civilian target was fucked up. I don't know if he eventually corrected the record but I never saw any correction or apology and a quick google can't find it. I'm not saying that makes him anything but given how publicly he spread such dangerous ideas and a lack of quick and clear correction on his part it certainly upset a lot of people.
If they were showing Alex Jones clips having some sort of auto-takedown makes total sense, since reuploading to a different channel or doing some type of livestream to circumvent the infowars ban seems like it would be a pretty common measure they clearly got the strike removed afterward, so what's the problem
Nope. If youtube was bought for profitt, it would be turning a profit right now. Those data metrics are more valuable to Google's bussiness than money is.
Wrong. They bought it expecting a turnaround based on the changes they've made, that it has or hasn't is entirely a separate issue. 5 billion in ad revenue also isn't chump change. If it wasn't directly breaking even on the black side of the ledger they wouldn't be scrambling with all the content locking bullshit they've implemented over the last three years every time revenue versus content concerns comes up.
He's repeated stuff about the Dresden Bombings that originated from Nazi propaganda but I think that was just out of pure ignorance.
He wasn't deliberately parroting nazi propaganda, he was talking about the book Slaughterhouse Five which apparently gives the wrong figures. He didn't say it because he's an alt-right neo nazi, he said it because he trusted false information from a book by a well known book that he liked written by an author who was there during the bombing in real life. Yes, he has apologised for it and corrected himself on the podcast.
They do seem to somewhat sensationalize it, however I really feel like the trunk of the matter is that anyone who supports him or is a journalist will pretty much act like it has greater and farther reaching implications.
Did he apologise and correct the personally more important bit about stating the bombing was after the German surrender? Genuinely could not find any apology via google. Again I don't think anyone is saying he's a Neo-Nazi but spreading that propaganda intentionally or not was a huge mistake and is a very dangerous mistake to be making.
Because blindly taking everything related to it down doesn't just stop reuploads, it also stops any discussion about it and empowers people who think there's a conspiracy to silence them over their political views. Not to mention Ethan talked to their YouTube representative about the topic they were streaming and got the go-ahead. Kinda fucking stupid of YouTube to then give them an auto-strike immediately afterwards, intentionally or not.
They're not taking everything related to it down, only auto-detecting stuff that uses the actual clips. you can discuss things without using clips
