I played some of the past ones and no, I can't remember it being the case. Battlefield 1 sold incredibly well however, so maybe it just attracted the MLG crowd or some shit I dunno. I never had issues being competitive in online games until the past few years, so maybe the gaming landscape has just changed so much that my old ass can't keep up lol
I thought Infinite Warfare's campaign was pretty good.
This happens with every Battlefield release. The length of time between the final DLC release (really probably even before it) and the release of the next game is filled with playing games consisting of exactly two types of players: People who just bought the game for a great deal and have seemingly never played an objective based game in their lives, and a five man team of heartbreakers and widowmakers dominating land, air, and sea with thousands of hours of combined game experience.
ah yes, a song about new orleans fits perfectly in a world war 2 trailer. What was wrong with some fanservice? Give us an updated 1942 theme. Also why do the fucking french soviets poles and japanese always get shafted in games like this when it was their countries primarily under attack or attacking?
I was actually pleasantly surprised by that, but I never got "hooked" on it. The original Call of Duty's all grabbed me in some fashion, and had my attention all the way through, but the recent ones haven't managed that.
FPS campaigns are a dying breed unfortunately It costs 5x more money to make all the assets, animations, storyline, etc. to make 5x less money than if they sell shit like lootboxes in multiplayer
I'll love for more obscure fronts, but as it stands, the Eastern and Pacific theaters aren't currently present, I'm guessing they'll be the first DLCs, followed by North Africa and probably Italy. It really sucks how much these games are marketed to Americans even if it makes sense, most Amercians know fuck all about the Winter War and EA probably thinks it'll sell like shit. But maybe we'll be lucky, we could see the Winter War, seeing as the Italian-Austrian Front was present in BF1, two armies which are far from famous and not exactly held as the most exciting part of the war. But they have much to add, if we are fortunate they could lump the theater alongside the Eastern Front.
I hope fans recreate this intro once the game comes out Having the majority of it not have direct combat is such a welcome change from the Michael Bay trailers BF's been putting out
Was pissed that Canada didn't get any representation in BF1, now I feel it'll be the same thing in this game. Dude, where's our respect eh?
Na, the trailer would be less bombastic than it would be with period accurate music Plus, they seemed to have grown a few brain cells back and are going back to BF1's style of trailers which were great, particularly its great Gamescom trailer that featured a remix of Johnny Cash
man I can't be the only one that finds this style of trailer annoying *build up of music* *BANG* *quiet* *build up of music* *BANG* *quiet* *build up of music* *BANG* *quiet* *build up of music* *BANG* *quiet* *build up of music* *BANG* *quiet* Like 5 or 6 times in the same fucking trailer
Did they steal the trailer music from fucking Sicario at the end?
I imagine that the need for player customization (people were loud and clear about this back when BF1 released) is why we are getting brits and germans only for now. I hate to admit it, but I think you can do a lot more variation than for the local fighters.
That imagery of the British soldiers getting up to observe the devastation of Rotterdam reminds me too much of BF3 Aftermath. And i love it!
I totally get where you're coming from, but I think there are a few reasons for this: Developing an entire faction for one or two maps is not economical The Brits fought in Belgium, so it's probable they fought in NL to some degree too (I am not totally sure on this.) The Dutch used German aircraft, and this could be both confusing and not terribly distinctive Still, I totally understand what you mean, despite me being British myself, and it would be nice to see some representation of smaller nations in these games at some point. I'm kinda surprised they used the British at all, rather than just opting to use America. We tend to be snubbed in military films/games made in the US for obvious reasons. In terms of the trailer itself, does anybody else find that using music and video synchronised to create a feeling of synaesthesia is incredibly effective in trailers? What I mean by this is that there were explosions matching up to the strong beat in the song as well as 'camera' changes. Love that shit, myself. This was a wonderful trailer and I will admit that it makes me a bit hyped, even though I am unlikely to buy the game due to my laptop being arse.
Actually, there's plenty of instances where DICE went to absurd VO work for factions that barely have any maps, most notably the Italians and Ottomans who only got 2 maps each during BF1's launch and you can argue that they shouldn't have bothered with the US as they never got any new maps beyond launch. One British unit did fight in early Rotterdam, but I forgot the exact details, so it's not total fiction that they're pulling off here. Yeah, the type of trailer you've described is exactly why BF's trailers are so good. It's even better if you also consider the fact that Frostbite is one of the only engines you can confidently depend on being true to actual gameplay as the trailers show visually. Hell, in BF1's case, trailer worthy clusterfucks are so naturally frequent on their own that a legitimate complaint of the game was it was too trailer chaotic for normal play.
In fairness the Ottomans don't speak Ottoman Turkish (Because basically no one speaks it.) and the Austrians got snubbed entirely.
why is it that you can just tell that a 39 year old white guy with a keurig machine picked this song
I learned yesterday we got a single map in BF1942
Playing the alpha both times I think the main issues exist in: Uniforms (I know it is minor, but recognizing silhouettes of enemies/classes is incredibly important. Plus they do not seem like authentic representations of wartime attire which is offputting because it adds some distance from actually being immersed into the WW2 era) Spotting. Bombers and air-to-ground attack planes are useless in making any meaningful difference. Air in general is useless. This includes fighters. Squad leaders should have more tools to lead their squad better. I really appreciating squad specializations but maybe more point related rewards. The V1 rockets are fucking awesome in this regard. More massive, game changing events on the map that change the course of gameplay. I love level-lution in this regard except when it flat out ruined the experience like in Seige of Shanghai. Medics have massive advantage over everyone since they can heal themselves at very fast rates with medpacks. This is a major issue since health does not really regenerate
It feels like you could tell the difference with each iteration of battlefield game but this just looks exactly the same as BF1.
BF3 to 4 was worse
It's the same development model DICE has always had. They release one game, then an interation of that game, then a new game with a lot of the core mechanics intact but changed significantly as well as a new backdrop and all that entails. 1942 > Vietnam, BF2 > 2142, Bad Company > Bad Company 2 (this is actually the closest one; BC2 was virtually a re-release with models, skins, sounds, and animations moved over), BF3 > BF4, and now BF1 > BFV. With Hardline being the obvious black sheep.
BF3 to 4 still had a stylist change, even though the blue tint was shit it did make the game feel unique.
